Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

Hi, I'm new.

Thought I would join as I'm finding the Helen/Rob story line fascinating.

So glad it's not just me who found Heathers death amusing. You could virtually hear the grim reaper swooping after the car.

Will David say "I did warn you this might happen?"

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 28/09/2015 21:08

Bugger - first post is an X post with Babylon Grin

Primadonnagirl · 28/09/2015 21:10

Bore knew you were going to do that....

R4 · 28/09/2015 21:13

There isn't any chance that the 'poacher' taking the game is Scruff?

AskingForAPal · 28/09/2015 21:14

Welcome WhenSheWas!

It was the singing as someone else said. Inevitable. Anyone else wondering whether Carol had kindly given Ruth a little something for her old mum?

Welcome WhenSheWas

The bees said you'd be along soon Wink

Oh, I do hope so!

BeaLola · 28/09/2015 21:33

The only thing that would have made the demise of HP better would have been if Ruth had crashed and joined her. Sorry but I have never warmed to Ruth - David could do SO much better .

BertrandRussell · 28/09/2015 21:45

But why was she singing cockney songs? Wouldn't it have been The Keel Row or something?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 28/09/2015 21:46

Thou shalt have a fishie, on a little dishy.... And I'll cook it better than Jill would?

selsigfach · 28/09/2015 21:49

I reckon it'a a hungry HWMNBN, R4
runs
I'm annoyed, why couldn't they have let HP have a nice few weeks by the fire with her grandsons bringing her mugs of tea, feeling all loved, before dying in her sleep? Miserable, sodding SWs. Any YY, bloody Dave will be saying 'I told you so'.

Gruach · 28/09/2015 21:49

Heather only spent a few weeks in expensive nursing home care - so it's to be assumed that Ruth is returning from Northumberland rather better off than when she left.

Pip will have spent her DM's inheritance before the car crunches up the drive.

Travelledtheworld · 28/09/2015 21:53

Blaydon Races is the Geordie Anthem isn't it ?
But I don't think rural Northumberland counts as Geordie ?

Any Northerner is welcome to correct me.

Travelledtheworld · 28/09/2015 21:54

I"m from Yorkshire mesen, but I have no wish to die to the tune
of "Ilkley Moor Bha t'at".

LillianGish · 28/09/2015 22:09

Could it be any more predictable? How could last night's episode be so marvellous and tonight's so poorly executed. Are there two entirely separate teams of scriptwriters? HP, who was so unable to leave her northern home and all her friends that D and R were planning on uprooting their family and selling their farm to be with her, couldn't wait to leave the north in the end and SOTMC singing a cockney ditty. We can only hope that this farcical conclusion to a plot that has been a farce from start to finish is the end of the matter. Can we move on to the Grundies - that wonderful scene with Jill, be it ever so humble there's no place like home, surely presaging their eviction from Keepers by Hazel.

AskingForAPal · 28/09/2015 22:37

I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks this will cause big problems between David and Ruth! She will blame him for putting his mum ahead of hers (esp if he tries to move Jill straight back in) and now Heather's dead and never even got one cup of Brookfield tea.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 28/09/2015 22:39

I've not listened yet, so I have a treat in store, but do you think the SWs thought their audience would be saddened by this? Grin

(Just posted this on another thread altogether, how embarrassing)

Gruach · 28/09/2015 22:41

Yup. Once I'd stopped ShockSadGrin I felt more than moderately insulted. The whole thing - all year - has been sheer bilge water.

Poor Eddie.

(Btw Lil'G - your "eye off the ball" disquisition deserves some sort of prize. And if that's what people mean by "intimidating" ...Wink )

Northernlurker · 28/09/2015 22:48

I was sort of surprised that she ended up in Nottingham. I would have taken the A1 as far as Scotch corner then A66 then M6. But that aside this evening's development was staggeringly unsurprising.

choccyp1g · 28/09/2015 22:48

I thought David was utterly heartless when he met Ruth at the hospital. I'm so glad I found you, I went to the wrong ward, me,me,me. BTW how's your mum?

choccyp1g · 28/09/2015 22:49

She's dead you fool, and has been for hours!!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 28/09/2015 22:49

Thanks for the welcome. Asking I think you are right Ruth is going to be a nightmare to live with.
Definitely going to be issues between her and David.

R4 · 28/09/2015 22:51

I wondered where the carefully-not-identified motorway services were. I think, by the reference to Nottingham, that they are the ones just north of Junction 25. (over-infested, moi?)
So HP threw in the towel at Trowell.Grin

BertrandRussell · 28/09/2015 22:51

"I thought David was utterly heartless when he met Ruth at the hospital. I'm so glad I found you, I went to the wrong ward, me,me,me. BTW how's your mum?"

Good lord- the poor sod really can't do right for doing wrong, can he? Sad

I'm so glad I found you- I got lost- that's why I wasn't here sooner- what's going on?

R4 · 28/09/2015 22:53

Nah, NL. M1 then M42.
