The Archers - It's not about the money, money, money, think about Jill's honey, honey, honey, Justin wants to farm by satnav, forget about the prize tag.

Will The Dopeys have buggered off by the end of this thread?
Will Tom finally reach home, after weeks of trekking through the tundra?

So? What happened? Stuck in traffic and can't use radio!!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 02/12/2014 19:25

Briefly - Borchester Land was set up some years ago by Brian and Annabelle Scrivener (?) and a few other local business people to buy The Estate. They were taken over earlier this year by Damara Capital - global sharks...

There was a BBC Blog ...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 02/12/2014 19:29

BYOS David told Brian. Brian was sad.

Brian told Jenny. Jenny was furious.

They told Adam. Adam feels made a fool of by Charlie.

There will now be war between the two families.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 02/12/2014 19:29

Bl owns the land and damara owns most of bl

BringYourOwnSnowman · 02/12/2014 19:31

So which Shakespeare has warring families other than Romeo and Juliet?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/12/2014 19:33

Makes a change ... didn't Brian/BL do some sort of unpopular housing development?

I'm not entirely sure Jenny would have turned down an offer like that in D&R's position - easy for her to take the moral highground from Home Farm with its fabulous kitchen, swimming pool etc. Wryly amused by her 'you think you know people' line - is that some sort of excuse by the SWs for character shifts? Hmm

BringYourOwnSnowman · 02/12/2014 19:33

Was this whole story a set up to engineer a falling ou between the aldridges and archers?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/12/2014 19:36

Shakespeare... 'et tu, David'. Or there's the Yorks and Lancasters.

R4 · 02/12/2014 19:38

There was a BBC Blog
Here it is. BL

Was SOC having a laugh at our expense when JD came out with her literary bit?Hmm

PseudoBadger · 02/12/2014 19:43

What about Amside Story? The Bulls vs The Stags....

TopazRocks · 02/12/2014 19:44

Are the 'King' plays not a bit warrish? . I have a child who reads Shakespeare out of choice though, so I'll ask him anon.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/12/2014 19:46

I must have missed JD's 'literary bit' (DH talked over a section - he was saying how nice dinner was so he's not in disgrace)

PseudoBadger · 02/12/2014 19:54

Listening now. Go Jenny! She's right, if Justin gets Brokefield (can we call it that any more?) then the road is a done deal. Together they stand, divided they fall.

I'd forgotten it was Matt who caused the Grundys to lose Grange Farm - till I read the blog. Also, I'd forgotten all the tension/acrimony between BL and Brine and Bridge Farm

GypsyFloss · 02/12/2014 19:56

Proper SATTC. How many years late?

CuttedUpPear · 02/12/2014 20:03

Going back to ARSE for a moment. ...
If Tamsin Greig could Skype in her presence (from Hungary, obvs) then could OldTom do the same from Canada, where the SWs have cruelly abandoned him in a forest somewhere?
I worry that he won't be able to afford to get back to the UK since he lost his job.

Confused
unitarian · 02/12/2014 20:06

Useful blog. I understand it all much better now.

PseudoBadger · 02/12/2014 20:13

Blog has made me miss Matt Sad Quick, someone call me Pusscat!

So

Jill v Peggy

David v Jenny

Pip v Adam

Josh v Phoebe? (Messes up the generational ladder.)

This is where we need Debbie and Kate (!) to add their voices.

Where will the Bridge Farm Archers stand?

Jim will be working in opposition to his DIL ...

The Grundys?

The Carters?

The Vicarage? Would be fun if Alan and Usha found themselves on opposite sides.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 02/12/2014 20:22
  • Sorry, just thinking aloud. But this is brutal.
OddFodd · 02/12/2014 20:22

Am I the only one who finds that NewTom and Charlie sound horribly similar? Actually all the new actors sound much of a muchness - NewTom, Charlie, Peep, Todd. All sound like they qualified at Guildford

Prague does sound a bit of a SW mis-step. But it might be primarily for Ruairi. Or even Phoebe and Ruairi.

GypsyFloss · 02/12/2014 20:42

Pseudo More gin Pusscat?
