Sexy sex on lovely legs, shearing sheep bare-chested. Tell us how you picture the good folk of Ambridge (and feel free to discuss anything else rural soap-related).

For me, that describes Ed. Some strange people think that it describes Jazzer.
Does it matter what they look like? We know and love their voices (except you Pip)

Gypsy I protest! Usha is a well paid, child-free lawyer with virtually no accomodation costs. She has plenty of money to spend on clothes and spirited, directional tastes. Selfridges (Birmingham or London) would be her usual chioce.

Odd Slogans? Deck shoes?? Are you sure?

Lil'G Wouldn't CD-W have guffawed at the news over the phone? Ma Titch seemed more the "tinkly little laugh" type to me. (Though she'd better turn out to be a good'un; Ursula is one of my favourite names - wreathed in earthy Lawrentian romance...)

PetulaGordino · 09/07/2014 23:04

rob's parents are farmers too aren't they?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/07/2014 23:15

Yes... but Rob only seemed to mention his dad in relation to the actual farming. Ursula might spend all her time tending roses and polishing her pearls.

And, while I'm on the subject, what kind of parents give one son a magnificent name like Miles and then call the other Knob? Enough to turn a man evil.

PetulaGordino · 09/07/2014 23:23

oh yes, i wasn't disputing anyone's visualisations of her - ursula could be a farmer like jennifer's a farmer Grin

fwiw so far i imagine her looking like stephanie cole, but it's still a bit fluid at the moment - need more information before i can pin her down

JessieMcJessie · 10/07/2014 04:11

Susan wouldn't have pics of Jake and Mia-they are Clarrie's step grandkids. Emmur would be horrufied to have pics of them in her house-remember her annoyance over Mia disrupting Kira's christening?

Clarrie,on the other hand woyld be at pains to make sure that the pics of J and M were exactly the same size as those of George and Poppy, bless her.

OddFodd · 10/07/2014 05:01

Zero - I'm basing that entirely on the farming men I know who all dress like that in their leisure time :o

Icimoi · 10/07/2014 07:27

Not sure that this thread is really working as the Archers chat thread. Maybe start another one?

Davros · 10/07/2014 07:37

Ursula - are they posh Catholics? Will divorce be very much frowned upon? Never mind living in sin with Hellcheese and her offspring of indeterminate origin?!

GypsyFloss · 10/07/2014 07:42

Yebbut Zero she's also a vicar's wife and as such might not want to portray an expensive taste in clothes.

I think this current manifestation of the thread is just a pleasant diversion from the dullness that is the road, the pigs etc. Come Friday we'll all be back on message with gossip about the Knob's Ma and Pa I reckon.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/07/2014 07:45

Did anyone feel sorry for Ed yesterday? He sounded like a put-upon teen rather than father of a family.

Perhaps things are leading up to their being offered somewhere else to live. (I don't believe Susan would actually throw them out.) Who has a spare house at the moment?

(Ici I'm sure by the end of the week we'll have abandoned Vogue and be back to shock and awe Grin )

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/07/2014 07:45

X'ed!

GypsyFloss · 10/07/2014 07:51

Maybe Ma and Pa Knob will enlighten Helen about his stint in prison for...murdering his older brother ( accidentally of course) Hence the scar he has but has never told Hellin how he got it. Canada is actually a euphemism for Wormwood Scrubs Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/07/2014 07:56

I was weighing up her wardrobe options / humility obligations last night Gypsy. Blush

She's at work amongst urban professionals all day and probably enjoys the swagger (or she'd be in a different job.) At home I don't think the local yokels would be able to tell the difference between a £70 t shirt and a £7.00 one. I don't see her being a showy dresser - just a stylish one. Which I'm sure Alan appreciates. (It's not as if she hangs out in the poorer parishes swathed in Versace...)

PetulaGordino · 10/07/2014 08:32

kirsty and tom were at no1 the green and no mention of new tenants, but not sure that ed n emma would be happy with that!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/07/2014 09:01

Good thinking... We touched on this about a dozen threads ago but surely it's time for Will to do the right thing re his inheritance from the convenient great aunt? Perhaps a peppercorn rent for a few years?

Otherwise:

Helen and Rob > the Lodge?

Roy and Hayley either > LL or far, far away?

Mike and Vicky > Birmingham for the sake of their daughter?

Caroline and Oliver > his daughter in the US?

Did Fallon move out of the flat?

It occurs to me that Charlie the professional stalker will probably decide to move closer to Adam into the village....

PetulaGordino · 10/07/2014 09:06

there's also the fact that probate has been granted on jack's will, so hazel will be taking ownership of keeper's cottage (and the shop iirc?), so clarrie and eddie may be feeling worried

mummytime · 10/07/2014 09:19

Susan has a crush on Charlie (doesn't realise he looks so smart because he bats for the other side, this is a bit stereotypical SWs BTW). She is social climbing again - so trying to get her son in law to smarten up-despite living in a village hasn't spotted that the rich are often scruffy.
I'm not sure why Neil is staying out to avoid her - her nagging seemed reasonable to me - Neil needs to stick up for himself.
Maybe Fallon's sideline could make her rich, but I am surprised she isn't performing at Bolloxfest herself.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 10/07/2014 09:36

Hell will freeze over before Will does Ed a good turn, Zero.

Has probate been granted, Pet? I don't remember hearing that, just talk about the headstone. Still waiting for a big stooshie about the community shop once it's in Hazel's clutches.

If the Grundys are evicted from Keeper's Cottage I wonder where they'll end up. We couldn't have TA without them, in my view. One of William Smethurst's better innovations in the 80s. I treasure Neil Kinnock's remark that The Archers would have been better re-named 'The Grundys and their Oppressors'.

PetulaGordino · 10/07/2014 09:38

didn't peggy go and sign something a couple of weeks ago? i might have dreamt that but i did think it was to do with probate

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 10/07/2014 09:41

Quite possible that I'd nodded off for a bit, Pet! Oh dear. I can't bear the thought of Joe having to get his clubhammer out again. If I were a Grundy ferret I'd be looking for a hole in the floorboards toot sweet.

OddFodd · 10/07/2014 12:04

Yes she did sign something to do with probate. I can't bear it if the Grundys get kicked out of Keepers. It was too awful when they lost the farm

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2014 15:31

I like that social climbing Susan is now nagging Ed AND poor Neil; that's our Susan Grin also brown nosing the shxx Charlie (with the lovely shirt yuck yuck) to underline that she's splitting the village about the road along with the new anaroebic digester!

GypsyFloss · 10/07/2014 19:13

Oh god Shula sounds like she's just had a good seeing to... " oh Roy that was ammmmaaaaazzzzzing" Grin

OddFodd · 10/07/2014 19:23

Elizabeth is up the duff isn't she? Well that's going to blow everything sky high.

I'm cringing in advance at the meeting of the Titches/P&T. It will be an utter disaster with much scraping of knives on plates during awkward silences. Fabulous :o

florencedombey · 10/07/2014 19:29

Peggy swore the oath for probate last week. It normally takes two weeks or so for private to be granted, so things should start moving with The Shop etc pretty soon...
