Sexy sex on lovely legs, shearing sheep bare-chested. Tell us how you picture the good folk of Ambridge (and feel free to discuss anything else rural soap-related).

For me, that describes Ed. Some strange people think that it describes Jazzer.
Does it matter what they look like? We know and love their voices (except you Pip)

Rob does know - in fact I think there was some mention in relation to Rob's parents coming to visit that they might ask about Henry's father and whether Rob had told them.

CuttedUpPear · 29/07/2014 05:56

I've been reading Temple Grandin's autobiography recently - it's amazing what she has achieved.

PseudoBadger · 29/07/2014 06:36

Lillian - I read that conversation as 'normal' worrying about discussing Henry's 'absent' father.

Can someone more 'in the know' tell me who the wonderfully named Temple Grandin is or was please Grin. I'm a very regular R4 listener but for some reason have missed out.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 29/07/2014 11:03

I'm just listening to last night's episode and Lynda has started saying OOOH OOOOH while watching the cringey film. And Fallon and Alice are making me want to vomit.

it's so zeitgeisteeeeee! No, it's so passe!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 29/07/2014 11:04

A vintage tea room that sells furniture? yes, nobody has ever thought of that ever before.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 29/07/2014 11:18

Grin She's not an Ambridge-ite ppeat, she's an Animal-ologist. But I can't tell you anything that Google can't unfortunately.

WipsGlitter · 29/07/2014 11:25

Where will the spot for the vintage tea room magically materialise from? Jaxx?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 29/07/2014 11:30

Disused police box?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 29/07/2014 12:12

Jaxx isn't in the village is it?

Maybe upstairs at the bull?

Where does Alice get the time?

I think they have had a 'rare wildlife saves the village' story involving Lynda before haven't they?

PetulaGordino · 29/07/2014 12:12

Sorry ppeat she's nothing to do with R4 or TA - I was just showing off! She is an animal sciences researcher (behaviour and welfare in particular) who also has autism and has campaigned for the rights of those with autism

PetulaGordino · 29/07/2014 12:16

I noticed they had a bit about Alice's work yesterday (perhaps because we have been whinging about it!)

I hope fallon remembers that proper tea rooms don't serve panini

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 29/07/2014 12:25

I personally find the upcycling more interesting when changing the function of something (like forks into coat hooks) rather than just tarting something up/making it look shabby chic/decoupage

PetulaGordino · 29/07/2014 12:34

Yes and ruining perfectly good wooden furniture with Annie Sloan chalk paint

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2014 12:49

Thanks Zero and Petula Grin

Lets think about the type of village that Amb. is; it has a variety of residents most of whom will be very MOR not avant garde or intellectual or even clever. Certainly IMO this thread has posters of greater IQs than the majority of TA residents.

Perhaps we may be expecting too much of them Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 29/07/2014 13:11

I've found the perfect German word to describe Charlie

Backpfeifengesicht

Roughly translates as 'a face in need of a fist'

R4 is very educational!!

JessieMcJessie · 29/07/2014 13:19

Surely if Fallon is going to have a tearoom/showroom then surely charming market town Borchester is the place to have it? Is Ambridge known for its passing tourist/city dwellers looking for afternoon tea traffic? I don't think so.

After "in town" the best place to put it would be as a concession within Lower Loxley, though Lizzie would need to take a sizeable cut on the teas to justify taking trade away from the Orangery.

I was wondering where Chris' forge was though - can they get Fallon to chuck in a bit for the rent and put a teashop annex on that?

mummytime · 29/07/2014 13:22

I'm hoping its a rare tree, maybe Wild Service? Something that can't be moved and is a sign that the whole area is of scientific interest/old woodland. (That or a Yeti).

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 29/07/2014 13:42

I've always wondered how the bull makes a profit. I bet there will be a house on the green that used to be a tea room that will get bought by pc plot to live in the flat upstairs and he will use the money fairy to turn it into a downstairs shop for fallon this tying her to him forever.

Or more likely there will be an unseemly fight over the village shop and hazel giving it to fallon at peppercorn rent just to piss everyone else off

So are we due an unknown love child appearing? My money is Charlie being Brian's son which will make him and Adam gettibg it on a bit icky and gossip worthy

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 29/07/2014 13:43

As for what Lynda saw in the woods - the local mp sexually harassing a deer

impomea · 29/07/2014 14:16

Something has just pinged in my brain [rare].I think I remember someting to do with a wild service tree and Shula maybe ?

Loved the bobblegate bit with Lil confessing to Nick that she didn't know how the hell to knit them.

PetulaGordino · 29/07/2014 14:24

i was most intrigued by kirsty allsopp's question about intarsia in the round, which i didn't think was possible but

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2014 15:36

Jessie Where do Chris and Alice live? i'm not sure that the forge is in the centre of Amb.If it was it'd be ideal they could extend it and have a lovely open fire in the winter Grin

PetulaGordino · 29/07/2014 15:47

could this be fallon in 10 years' time?

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2014 16:01

yaay Petula I love GBBO me Grin I'm MOR that JD discussing Babette's Feast didn't ring true to me.
