Sexy sex on lovely legs, shearing sheep bare-chested. Tell us how you picture the good folk of Ambridge (and feel free to discuss anything else rural soap-related).

For me, that describes Ed. Some strange people think that it describes Jazzer.
Does it matter what they look like? We know and love their voices (except you Pip)

Haven't seen it but know the one you mean.

PetulaGordino · 19/07/2014 00:54

dp would have been devastated if they had called the bull athelstan. it's what he plans to call his firstborn son if he has him with someone other than me, he would have been gutted if it had been the name of an archers bull!

PetulaGordino · 19/07/2014 01:05

yes oddfodd it is similar

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 19/07/2014 07:54

I think the thing to do now, Petula, is to petition the TA editorial team to go for Athelstan. Solves your problem at a stroke!

I'll sign your petition. I don't believe in child cruelty!

Personally I think it would be rather fine to be named after an Ambridge bull.

Just sayin'......

PetulaGordino · 19/07/2014 13:03

zero in that case you shall henceforth be called "otto"

(dp is firmly in the dum-de-dum-de- camp)

R4 · 19/07/2014 13:05

I think that Æthelstan is a great name. Better than Otto.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/07/2014 13:05

Happy to answer to Ottoline....

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 19/07/2014 13:23

Æthelstan [shameless copy and paste there from R4's post] does sound a bit like a house name, doesn't it? Retirement abode of Mr Stanley and Mrs Ethel Trudge. However, many of those old names are coming back, so who knows?

'Æthelstan! Ottoline! Come here, darlings, I have some organic quinoa salad for you!' Yes, I can hear it now.

PetulaGordino · 19/07/2014 13:26

i don't actually have a problem with it as a name for a child - it has a very important history, v noble etc. just not my child. i like "boring" names

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/07/2014 13:27

Nah - they're the protagonists in an epic romance, across centuries...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/07/2014 13:28

You could call him Stan day to day.

Win, win....

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 19/07/2014 13:33

Stanislaw is a very fine name too. If you had twin boys you could call them Æthelstan and Stanis?aw and they could both be Stan for short.

MrsMaturin · 19/07/2014 14:19

It's worth listening to as a master class in how to be a manipulative, lying bastard tbh.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/07/2014 14:29

Poor you ppeat.

Sit on your hands till tomorrow morning - and don't read the thread!

PetulaGordino · 19/07/2014 14:31

GypsyFloss · 19/07/2014 14:53

I haven't heard the Knobcheese parental no-show episode yet - am really looking forward to it!
The Fallon-PC Plot thing is, up to now, a bit clumsy - I'm hoping it gets more interesting. A PP suggested that Fallon should get consider joining the police herself - I wonder what Jolene, who possibly thinks of herself as a little bit countercultural, would think of that?
