Sexy sex on lovely legs, shearing sheep bare-chested. Tell us how you picture the good folk of Ambridge (and feel free to discuss anything else rural soap-related).

For me, that describes Ed. Some strange people think that it describes Jazzer.
Does it matter what they look like? We know and love their voices (except you Pip)

never satisfied eh?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 15/07/2014 19:19

Charlie's obsession with Adam appears to be reciprocated. Poor Ian.

( Olivia I think the title has already been edited.)

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 15/07/2014 19:51

I wondered if Adam was going to be in for a nasty surprise when Charlie makes a pass at him. He seemed genuinely perplexed about why Charlie keeps coming round to talk about something that could quite obviously wait a bit and finding excuses to sit close to him in a tiny little cab. Another complicated employment issue!

Shock am not indispensable

looking forward to catching up with all of this

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 15/07/2014 20:22

Grin Olivia I didn't say it was as brilliant an edit as you might have produced!

But I do love this (Bluestocking's) thread title. I've been using my laptop slightly more lately and every time I see "Sexy sex on lovely legs" at the top of my screen it makes me smile.

PseudoBadger · 15/07/2014 20:31

HelenMNHQ got there first Olivia :o

I hope they're not trying to imply that Jenny being upset is a sign of an affair

If they were close friends you would expect her to be very upset too

PrincessFiorimonde · 15/07/2014 23:29

Just reading the thread ...

Grin at 'I'm hoping for a spin-off calendar this year with him [Roy] posing in a series of cheap work suits and smiling coyly while holding staplers, wrestling wild horses etc.'

(Though there must once have been something about Roy when he captured the imagination of Wild Child Kate?)

Oh, and I always thought Jenny did have an affair with John Tregorran in days of yore (well before my time). Anyone know?

ppeatfruit · 16/07/2014 12:06

Hello all Grin I'm trying to get the hang of an up to the minute lap top computer 'cos mine has been struck by lightning! well not really but our broadband box has been. Our computer radios are out of course as . well so I'v just fought up with yesterdays' TA.

Ref. Susan she's always been a bubbling under bitch but I reckon the menopause has not improved her; she's great!!! Oh and Peggy's going ga ga IMO.

ppeatfruit · 16/07/2014 12:07

I mean caught up of course.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 16/07/2014 12:19

Yeah, Peggy's clumsiness and random comments and confusions are clearly indicating trouble ahead, I think. Perhaps to show that not all lovely grannies can take the Jill-route and move in with their children to make cottage pie to rapturous slurpings happy-ever-after, we will have Peggy going down a different route, with Jenny and Lillian having to find a care home with a posh enough clientele etc. And Tony won't want to help. And they'll all argue about whether the house should be sold to pay the fees. Possibly Tiger will do it up to rent out in the short term.

PseudoBadger · 16/07/2014 12:20

Can it be sold? She gave it to Helen and Henry.

I wonder if Peggy's story is about showing that depression can lead to dementia but is treatable and therefore reversible. I don't think they'd do Alzheimer's striking twice in the same household, would they?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 16/07/2014 12:25

So she did... I forgot that was that house. Well, where's she living now then - can't they sell that?

It doesn't need to be actual Alzheimers for someone not to be able to carry on at home alone though, does it? She could just be increasingly frail and forgetful.

PetulaGordino · 16/07/2014 12:28

maybe showing how depression in older people can present as dementia (if that is the case?)

not sure about the house - it's willed isn't it, rather than put in helen's name already (????). if so and the house is sold to a third party prior to peggy's death then the executor would i believe just ignore that. though i guess helen might contest the will if that happened

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 16/07/2014 12:30

She hasn't given it to them yet. She's made a will leaving it to Helen.

(a) She could change the will. In the light of Tom's bombshell, I wouldn't be surprised if she did that, while she still has capacity.

(b) If the house has to be sold to pay nursing home fees or similar there will be no inheritance for Helen. I think I'm right in saying that if a specific item is mentioned in a will and that item is no longer in the deceased's estate by the time of death, the legacy fails.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 16/07/2014 12:31

Spooky, Pet! Not for the first time, you seem to be me (or vice versa).

PetulaGordino · 16/07/2014 12:36

because you sound like you know what you're talking about!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 16/07/2014 12:38

I tend to drift off when they talk about houses Blush

But then in that case, there could presumably be a plot with Pat and Tony et al strongly suggesting that Helen give it up gracefully, whilst Rob talks her into not doing so, or at least resenting having it taken away? Can definitely imagine a nursing-home-fees-angst storyline somehow!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 16/07/2014 12:44

You mean I sound like an out and out Archers nerd who knows far more than is healthy about Ambridge!

Original, no, Helen currently has no rights over the house at all, so Peggy can do what she likes with it while she is alive. The angst would come from Helen and Knob knowing that if the house is sold for nursing home fees bang goes Helen's inheritance. I suppose there might be pressure then on Peggy to make a new will evening things up between Tom and Helen, or go back to leaving money to Tony instead.

PetulaGordino · 16/07/2014 12:44

it would be an (other) enormous rift in that family, caused indirectly by peggy

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 16/07/2014 12:45

Bring it on!

PetulaGordino · 16/07/2014 12:45

if helen/rob (knobcheese) were to object to the house being sold while peggy is alive i mean, or for them to contest the will if it's not changed between selling the house and peggy's death

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 16/07/2014 12:49

Yes, Mimsy that's the sort of thing I was thinking of. Not that Hellin and Wob would actually have any rights about it, but that their entitlement would come up against everyone else's sense of what was right.

Also, some kind of power of attorney thing could happen, perhaps? As in, she wouldn't sign everything over to Tony, causing massive offence. Again. Knowing Peggy, she would probably say she was handing the management of all her affairs to Tom, even though no-one knows where he is.

And of course Hazel would want a say. And has been mentioned again recently. She might suggest that what Peggy would really like most was to be smothered with a pillow and buried in a sack next to poor dear Ben, at a cost of No Pounds.

PetulaGordino · 16/07/2014 12:50

i was musing this morning on my way to work about the adam/charlie thing in relation to helen/rob

if adam and charlie (charm? adlie?) were to get together, and presumably adam is in line to inherit a portion of brian's assets, they are both keen on big farming, technology etc etc

rob seems to have his sights on bridge farm, and he too is keen on big farming, max profitability etc, and is grooming helen to his way of thinking (though bridge farm not as big as home farm i assume? not sure of sizes, and of course HF farms for BL so that's not included)

adam and helen aren't all that keen on each other anyway

one could see a future (10-20 years maybe) where you have these two rival big farms in the village, perhaps rivalling each other for BL control
