Oh God, I've been dreading this coming, thought it might be avoided - why why why WHY did David tell her???

Alice was born when Jennifer was about 42 and she and Brian went off to the Royal show and had some nooky in a London hotel. I think she was a bit of a marriage plaster baby following his affair with Caroline. Of course it was hoped she would be a boy......

Are you getting Shula and Nigel mixed up? They had a thing many, many years ago.

The Caroline / Brian thing is why Shula doesnt like Brian.

I was sure it was Caroline. I remember her trying to come onto him as he was lying on a bed upstairs blithering about how much he loved Lizzie, I think he was singing.
Maybe it was a dream.

blithering about Lizzie & singing certainly sounds like Nigel but I can't imagine Caroline coming on to him either

Brian used to come on to poor old Betty Tucker too (in the pantry, with Jennifer's fish knives). To me she always sounded as if she looked like (a younger) Hilda Ogden but given Brian's taste that can't be right

There is no way Elizabeth can keep fobbing him off with mutual busyness (esp when Ben has clearly said he can come any time)

She's going to stress herself out filling up 1/2 term with activities to keep them distracted now.
Wonder if Caroline might go and see David to talk about guilt. Mark Hebden died avoiding Caroline lyine prone in the road, thrown from her horse......

It came back and has been magically cured again!

she has a bionic battery-operated heart now & isn't allowed to drive for 6 months (& they're not up yet)

maybe Freddie will go to Brookfield anyway, she will drive in a fury to collect him, spot David in the lane, run him over, then have a heart attack & crash into Caroline & Shula on their horses.

Ooh Caroline used to be a bit of a goer before she met Oliver and became all sensible. Her and Shula's friendship has always struck me as extremely unlikely. But then Shula had an affair too I suppose.

Oh yes, Brian and Caroline Bone (as she was then - a strangely, erm, appropriate name)! They used to frolic in the hedgerows and it all got quite steamy. You'd never imagine it now that Caroline's so very grande dame.

On the subject of the loathsome Lizzie (who presumably now has to be tiptoed round by her entire family in subservient fashion forever more), the BBC Archers message-board is abuzz with the fact that she's accusing David of having 'goaded' and 'taunted' Nigel to get on the roof....now, we may all know about the 'man or mouse' comment but the thing is, David has never actually confessed that bit to Lizzie in any of the eps broadcast so far. So how does she know that any 'goading' took place?
The general theory is that it was written into the script at some point and then cut and nobody noticed, so they've ended up with a rather embarrassing mistake in continuity.
And Lizzie, despite not being allowed to drive for 6 months, audibly jumped into a car and zoomed off at speed once she'd had her big screaming fit at David over their gourmet picnic....they do seem to be getting a bit sloppy over details.
