Oh God, I've been dreading this coming, thought it might be avoided - why why why WHY did David tell her???

My mother is going to lunch at Brine and Shula's in a couple of weeks, I will try to get her to glean some gossip, although she did try the other day and said he was indiscreet but didn't manage to finish the conversation with her.

Grockle · 26/05/2011 20:55

Really, Five? Grin

Ponders · 26/05/2011 21:11

"Brian & Shula's" sounds so scandalous Wink

R4 · 26/05/2011 21:21

v. jealous of 5's mum. Charles Collingwood always sounds so naughty.
LOL@ "indiscreet but didn't manage to finish the conversation". I'll bet he's had years' of fun with stringing people along nearly-but-not-quite spilling the beans.Grin

fivegomadindorset · 26/05/2011 21:56

He came to Sunday lunch just as it was kicking off with Sioabhan and howwver you spell his sons name, he would not budge. She is lovely.

missthing · 27/05/2011 19:19

I imagine Brine being a bit dirty. Grin I think I would shame myself by doing a bit of an impromptu wee if I ever met him.
scamp I think Hayley is the equivalent of an education officer for LL.

Ponders · 27/05/2011 20:27

oh you are hopeless Grin

ppeatfruit · 28/05/2011 08:45

Back to Lizzie R4 she has always been a 2 faced insensitive troublemaker (remember the plot about the inheritance of Brookfield?) and seems quite happy to blame David for Nige's normal gung ho nature.

Threadworm8 · 28/05/2011 08:50

When I first started to listen to the archers, Lizzie was a stroppy teen doing A levels and being a right prima donna about it all. She hasn't changed.

seeker · 28/05/2011 08:54

My problem with this whole plot line is that the "Are you a man or a mouse" comment was so out of character for David. He just would not have said that. Kenton, yes- even Alisdair. But not David. I thought so at the time.

and why didn;t it come out at the inquest? David was interviewed by the police for 2 hours - are we supposed to believe that they didn't ask him exactly what was said when?

ChristinedePizan · 28/05/2011 09:28

Yes completely agree seeker. Unless he was supposed to have been really drunk (which he didn't appear to be) that was totally out of character.

Perhaps they'll both have breakdowns. Lizzie is getting so shrill I'm having to turn the radio down

bigbadbarry · 28/05/2011 09:36

Agree re inquest and police. They never thought to say oh, and what made you decide to go on the roof

lljkk · 28/05/2011 09:51

Are we all forgetting how gleeful Nigel was once they got up on the roof, saying how fun it was when he was a kid to scramble around up there with his dad? The whole story was played out so that we knew Loathesome would blame David even though he didn't deserve it.

At least Kenton had the sense to point out it was his idea to put the banner up there in the first place.

Threadworm8 · 28/05/2011 10:10

Whatever happnes, I'm sure it will involve Lizzie getting her claws into Home Farm, and David aquiescing because he feels he deserves nothing, now that he has murdered her husband.

seeker · 28/05/2011 10:23

Is it someone on here or someone I know in real life who has Nigel's scream as their ring tone?

Threadworm8 · 28/05/2011 10:28

It's probably David that has that, to keep his guilty conscience on its toes.

Ponders · 28/05/2011 10:47

Brookfield, thready Grin

Ponders · 28/05/2011 10:52

she's going to completely alienate the rest of the family the way she keeps refusing to talk about David or to acknowledge that Nigel played a part. & Lily & Freddie are going to pick up on it all & feel isolated (with a madwoman)

she's digging a huge hole for herself...

Threadworm8 · 28/05/2011 12:28

Damn. Who's Home Farm, then? Brine and Jennifer? I lost touch with the archers a bit once the dc were born (although I have a strong memory of newborn ds1 in the delivery room with archers theme music in the background -- I think womb-exposure has hardwired him to a latent knowledge of abstruse facts about fertiliser and bovine mastitis)

Northernlurker · 28/05/2011 12:36

Yes Home Farm belongs to Brian. There's a whole new set of inheritance arguements there:
Adam has been working on the farm for several years, is heavily 'invested' in it BUT he isn't Brian's son.
Ruairhi (how do you spell it?) is Brian's only biological son but he also has Kate and Alice and Debbie lurking in the background - also a farmer. Considering his age there is a good chance that R (I give up) won't have so much as picked up a pitchfork by the time Brian pops his clogs - hen what will happen? Jennifer won't see her dc's disinherited in favour of the Hathaway sprog.....Could we finally get the Ambridge murder?

Ponders · 28/05/2011 13:11

Kate & Alice each have a holiday cottage, isn't that supposed to be their inheritance?

Debbie isn't Brian's either, is she? The only proper farmers aren't his children - how ironic Wink

JoanofArgos · 28/05/2011 14:53

Debbie and Adam are Jennifer's and some blokes, but Kate and Alice are Braaan's, is that right?

If so, why the massive age gap between Kate and Alice, though?

Ponders · 28/05/2011 15:41

Debbie & Adam have different dads - Jennifer was a bit of a goer Grin Adam's "presumed" father was Paddy Redmond. Debbie's was Roger Travers-Macy who adopted Adam, which is why he's called Macy (NB I don't know all this stuff, I had to look it up)

Alice was probably born purely as part of a long-term script plan so that she could eventually marry a Horrobin to annoy Jennifer Grin
