Or vice versa?

Which would you rather?

Can't bear t6he thought of anything happening to David, despite his grumpiness he is one of my favourites ,reminds me of dh !Please don't it be Pip either ,she is about the same asge as my ds1 ,think I would fall aboutlistening to her die.I think in that scenario it might be Ruth and maybe some involvment from Josh/Jamie

WintervalPansy · 22/12/2010 12:10

I would really like this to be more imaginative than death, but the SATTC thing makes it quite hard to fathom.

Fibilou · 22/12/2010 12:13

"Emma loses her baby and goes off the deep end, snatches Helen's baby (why has nobody else suggested this?);"

Acually my other theory is the opposite to this - Hellin's baby is going to be disabled due to birth mismanagement, Hellin is going to have major PND, might commit infanticide and then steal Emma's baby. Hellin is going to give birth prematurely on 2/1

However I think Hellin is being too obviously trailed for the Big Story therefore I am switching to the David becomes Grace Archer theory

teddies · 22/12/2010 12:14

I don't care who dies as long as it is Susan Carter.
Xmas Grin

Fibilou · 22/12/2010 12:15

Just as a matter of interest, how many of us are MLers ?

LadyBiscuit · 22/12/2010 12:19

What's an MLer? I presume I'm not or I'd know what you were talking about!

WintervalPansy · 22/12/2010 12:19

Fibilou I used to be, but I was never very prolific, and now just lurk in the mustardy shadows.

ragged · 22/12/2010 12:22

No, no, it's too obvious that something bad should happen to Hellen. We've been totally primed to feel she's got it coming, after all. Wouldn't be a "surprise".

And like others have said, it'd be too awful to burden Pat+Tony with another big loss. Somebody else's turn for annus horribilis.

PrincessFiorimonde · 22/12/2010 12:24

Absolutely love some of the suggestions here.

But I'd like Freddy to shoot Lily and so get rid of both of their annoying piping voices.

(I don't think The Archers does children well.)

Alternatively, I'd like Shula and/or Kathy to pop their clogs/just disappear.

But I think the 'big shock' will be something not so shocking really, e.g. Joe or Jill dying - they are both quite old (in Archers' terms!), and could die peacefully at New Year. Though I love Joe and would like him to carry on for ever, I think his days are numbered...

WintervalPansy · 22/12/2010 12:35

MLer = MustardLander

Mustard Land is the BBC 'Discuss the Archers' forum, thus named because of its vivid ochre background.

duckyfuzz · 22/12/2010 12:44

Eastenders have a baby death storyline for nye I think, would BBC really do 2? My moneys on grundy murder

ragged · 22/12/2010 12:46

TA does the children's voices terribly -- most the kid threads are usually wrong. Phobe trying to eat books at 18 months, and Lily sounded like a 7yo the other night, not 11yo, etc.

Yeah, is about time for Joe to pop it, you're right.

risingstar · 22/12/2010 14:31

surely the baby will be a boy called John and hence Tony will melt and all will be well.

I think Pip has the worst possible voice of all radio actors. Whether she is happy/sad/perplexed/in love with the cows - she just sounds the bloody same - stagey and annoyed.

Wish she would go away to the University of Western Australia (or similar) for decades, and just leave us all alone.

And A Very Happy Christmas One And All!

Fibilou · 22/12/2010 15:33

I did read a while ago that the actress that plays shula does the childrens' voices. Don't know if she still does.

I find Ruari's voice highly grating

Acekicker · 22/12/2010 15:38

Just listened to last night's - I'm really hoping they're trying to mislead us with the heavy foreshadowing about Helen: 'this time next year she'll be putting a little stocking out for the baby's first Christmas' etc...

Fibilou · 22/12/2010 15:46

So do I now. As I said on my other thread, I can't bear the prospect of more heartbreak for Tony and Pat

Acekicker · 22/12/2010 15:52

Plus it's just so 'clunky' - whilst it's fun speculating and I want the warning signs to have been there, some of the current stuff is just too unsubtle to make it satisfying come the 2nd Jan...

traceybath · 22/12/2010 15:53

Oh no looks like it spoiler. Don't click if you don't want to know whats in the post-xmas radio times round-up.

Fibilou · 22/12/2010 15:57

Helen's baby is going to be disabled. it's what I've always thought and I really do think all the "spoilers" point this way. Helen is going to move back home.

I wonder if someone is culpable for whatever disaster happens - so someone causes a fire, knocks some one over so we have a divided community - long feuds etc.

Golly - I am ridiculously excited about this but really want the baby to be ok.

flyingmum · 22/12/2010 16:34

Freddie will run away from home because he's so fed up with all the extra tuition. Huge amounts of hysteria and hoo and haa. Jill sits looking smug trying not to say 'I told you so'. Final decision that State education is Good.

Unfortunately I think Helen's baby is going to be born prem and then have ensuing difficulties which means that she is going to be the measuring stick by which us mothers with SEN children will be measured by (AHHHHHHHH!) tony and madwife definately there to deliver said baby in barn - why bother with script writers when you have mumsnet!

I think Joe Grundy might be found fast 'asleep' by the fire and Will and Ed have fight during the funeral.

I like the idea of Jamie finally going mad and ending Kathy (please please please)

Either that or the pub is going to burn down.

Harry and Jazzer get into argy bargy??

The wonder I keep asking myself is is why do I spend my time listening to something which has so many annoying characters.
