That’s heartbreaking @PoshWatchShitShoes. Is there a row about whose responsibility/fault it is or is the plumber sub-contracted to the builder?

PoshWatchShitShoes · 01/02/2022 13:39

@NewHouseNewMe the builder has admitted liability and I took videos whilst they were explaining the problem. I've just appointed a QS to manage the issue, as I'm done now. I have no more mental capacity to deal with this shit!!!

LimpLettice · 01/02/2022 13:51

Oh no, @PoshWatchShitShoes So frustrating for you, I can't even imagine. Very glad they've admitted liability but it's never going to compensate your properly for even more delays, is it. I hope things are sorted quickly for you.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 01/02/2022 14:13

Oh no @PoshWatchShitShoes that’s so awful for you. Coffee and cake for now and a large glass of wine laterFlowers

whataboutbob · 01/02/2022 15:11

Oh. No @PoshWatchShitShoes that is just awful. How stressful. Sounds like you have taken the right course of action to document things and bring in a professional.

AwkwardPaws27 · 01/02/2022 17:02

@Callmejudith thank you, that fridge looks brilliant. Love the idea of a wide freezer drawer!

@PoshWatchShitShoes thank you.
Oh no, your beautiful floor! I hope they can fix it ASAP for you

GardensandGrandDesigns · 01/02/2022 17:12

Argh I'm so sorry 😞

Callmejudith · 01/02/2022 18:34

Omg @PoshWatchShitShoes nooooo! That’s not what you want at this stage

Oh posh that is a total nightmare. I'm so sorry. This renovation game is so stressful.

We have planning!! About to instruct the structural engineer - who knew that could be so expensive!

nomoneytree · 02/02/2022 09:01

sluj · 02/02/2022 09:11

www.discoverair.com has lots of much better photos. I am really pleased with them. You can literally move them with 2 fingers as they lift and glide.

sluj · 02/02/2022 09:54

This is the bottom slider mechanism with the covered gliders. Does a good job of stopping pet hairs, leaves etc getting in the groove

Not having a good day, I think I posted a photo from the showroom with the wrong doors! The black strip on this one is the Air600 set up. If you have dark frames, it just looks solid

@PoshWatchShitShoes that's so frustrating - I hope it works out.

On another slightly irritating point - I have just realised I should have made the whole extension two meters longer, and that would have allowed a downstairs en suite, which would have doubled as a downstairs loo and meant I wouldn't need to be F**king around with pocket doors, and making a hall and wet room happen, when I am not entirely sure its going to work aesthetically. Oh well we live and learn!!

Also do people do the garden at the same time as the house??? My garden has been completely scraped out, and i am now left with a lot of flat mud which needs total landscaping. I had planned that this year would be the house inside and out, front garden and drive way, along with the patio at the back of the extension! I now have people "advising" that it would be good to do the garden at the same time. I get that, and I could afford it, but all I wanted for this summer was a patio to drink wine on, and a finished house - the thought of the garden planning aswell is almost ending me!! Any thoughts and WWYD appreciated!

Littlemissweepy · 02/02/2022 11:29

@plumstone I plan to landscape the garden afterwards as presumed builders would wreck it. We already have a landscaper who has done a design, can’t schedule until we know more about builders schedule. Don’t want our glass doors to look out of a muddy mess for too long.

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 02/02/2022 12:37

@PoshWatchShitShoes what a nightmare! Your poor floor. So frustrating as you are so close to the end.

@nomoneytree planning! Yippee! Agree on the SE costs. We had such variable quotes, went with a middling one who could do the plans quickly.

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 02/02/2022 12:41

Huge progress here. Walls are up to the first floor, steels should be going in this week or early next week.

Utility mostly planned out. I'll be posting separately to get some views from you folk. It's quite small room and need to pack a lot in.

When my husband popped out in the weekend, I took the opportunity to lift some carpet and take a look at the beautiful original parquet again. Well, one thing led to another and I lifted carpet from half the roomGrin We don't think we can keep it due to the transition to other floors, but I have some plans on using it in the house (tables, walls etc). In the meantime I'm enjoying it.

Oh, and I tested positive for covid last night SadRight pain, but means I can focus on removing wallpaper this weekend.

In the same boat. We have the garden and side of the house to sort out. It's a huge area. Might get some quotes in so we can see if we can do it straight afterwards. Prefer to get it all out the way than prolong the presence of workmen any longer.

sluj · 02/02/2022 12:59

We are doing the patio around the house so there is no mud traipsed in the house. We will do the garden later though I might try and restore the lawn a bit. Fortunately our garden is tiny.

LimpLettice · 02/02/2022 13:38

Can I just vent a bit?

We are 8 weeks into a ten week lead time on our doors so I thought I'd prepare myself and chase them. Turns out the ten weeks didn't include an extra 2 for Christmas (was it a surprise to them?) and there are some supply issues. So maybe another 2. So maybe 6 weeks to wait. When my builders will be long finished and on to their next project. All customer services could say was well you shouldn't have started the build til they arrived. No sorry we didn't let you know, just well, wait then. Really? Do people wait until they have possession of all elements before starting? Where do they stash 2m glass doors? Up their arses? Bloke was so 'computer says no' it was enraging.

Ahem. Patio will be laid and some turf so we can enjoy the summer a bit but that's it. I cannot cope with or afford anything else.
