@sew ditto. In fact from where I'm sat now it's probably a metre behind me :(

nomoneytree · 25/03/2022 10:54

@Sewfrickinamazeballs that is literally amazeballs. How big will the space be?

This room will be about 8x7 (with a bit taken out for the utility)

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 25/03/2022 11:02

@BlueMooMoo the raised bit on the floor was our existing downstairs bathroom and office/junk room so have gone out a bit to the back and side and obviously above to. View from the back attached.

@GardensandGrandDesigns

Looks amazing. Can I ask how many weeks it has taken to get to that stage? Thanks!
We started 4th jan with demolishing the garage, so 12 weeks ish. The roof is being done this weekend then windows and doors next week. After that it's all the insides to do.
BlueMooMoo · 25/03/2022 11:06

Will it be kitchen plus dining? Or are you going to have tv/sofa too?

Thank you. I think we are going out semi similarly although our extension part is smaller (kinda of an L shape). We're on week 4 so exciting that you've made so much progress in another 8 weeks from now.

BlueMooMoo · 25/03/2022 11:10

And sorry another question - what's the aperture for your glass bifolds/sliders at the back? 6m?

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 25/03/2022 11:11

Yes, kitchen, dining table and a tv with some small sofas and bookcases on the wall in the left along with a fireplace of some sort. Our old dining room will become a play room and we have a living room at the front of the house plus an office (well my crafty room).

I have an retro G plan sofa I picked up on eBay for £100 quid to go in here for now, but will see how we use the space before buying much more furniture.

Almost exact! 5.9m sliders. We also have a large picture window to the side of it on the other wall
Sewfrickinamazeballs · 25/03/2022 11:14

@BlueMooMoo it's amazing how quick the progress is once your out the ground. I'd come home from work and there would be huge changes. I take a few photos everyday just to document the changes. How big is your space?

Ours will be 8x5 so less wide. Our sliders will be 3.5 approx. We are at the bricks point but still firmly outside and not yet much on the inside except a cut out in our dining room where they've had to put in a new steel. Feels like a prison cell in there now.

BlueMooMoo · 25/03/2022 11:21

@sew I'm hoping to have a tv/sofa area but it will be quite tight i think - sitting a metre away from the tv? I'm looking at narrow dining tables at the moment or maybe benches on one side as any extra room we can get, the better. I've also yet to go to IKEA (probably in about 4months time) to test out the narrower sofas to see how comfortable they are. I'm debating no tv but I think mrmoo will veto that firmly

GardensandGrandDesigns · 25/03/2022 11:27

Our back room will be 8x7m too so will eagerly watch your progress. 12 weeks that's great. Ours starts in 3 weeks!

We have some IKEA sofas at work and they are so comfy. I'll try to find the one but it's quite small. I'm tempted for the play room.

Room twins! Look forward to seeing the progress.
Sewfrickinamazeballs · 25/03/2022 11:37

@BlueMooMoo the sofa is Landskrona

nomoneytree · 25/03/2022 14:55

@Sewfrickinamazeballs also really similar to ours. We are going out 6m and the house is 11m wide. We are taking off a chunk at the end for the utility so the kitchen / dining / sofa will be about 6m x 9m. I'm panicking it will be too small so really good to see yours and get an idea.

nomoneytree · 25/03/2022 14:58

@BlueMooMoo I've already said no tv. I'm desperate to have 1 room that is civilised!! I figured the kids just sit with tablets / laptop anyhow and I'm going to be too busy admiring my new kitchen to watch tv. Even though ours is a big room it is tight when you want to fit so much in. As soon as I decided no tv it was easier to plan it as I didn't need sofas facing a wall.

BlueMooMoo · 25/03/2022 17:54

@nomoney we won't have any money for furniture or a new TV anyway! So it will be a blank area for a while so maybe we can live with it and we can see what it's like to not have a TV in there. It would be so much nicer to have a sofa facing out rather than facing a side wall.

GardensandGrandDesigns · 25/03/2022 18:03

We ordered our kitchen and utility today! 😁 Available delivery was July for bespoke painted with DIY so glad I designed it before the build started!

BlueMooMoo · 25/03/2022 20:08

@gardens did you select a delivery date? We're still waiting on the builder to confirm but I message ever so often to update on the earliest delivery date. At least it gives me an idea of the schedule! (That no new kitchen until July earliest!)

nomoneytree · 25/03/2022 20:11

I ordered our kitchen as soon as planning came through. Delivery is October which is 2 weeks later than the builder wanted. We have gone with handmade kitchens of Christchurch. I planned it on the diy site though. Im so excited.

We are having quite a few veluxes put in. Is it worth the extra money to have electric ones?

GardensandGrandDesigns · 25/03/2022 20:25

Yeah I selected 18th July after speaking to our builder. I read that you can push back the date if you give 2 weeks notice but you just can't bring it forward.

nomoneytree · 26/03/2022 11:09

Any recommendations on shower trays? Our current one is matki but they seem to have become £££!
