Ideas for this pink bathroom suite

Please be kind Wink

I'm moving into a new place which requires renovating. But there are rooms that are first in line. Apart from ripping up the carpet, I'd like ideas how to brighten this bathroom up temporarily. Tia

You’re so lucky OP
I spent ages trying to find a suite like that and gave up in the end

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 16:42

Apolloanddaphne I think some of them are upside down. I hope it doesnt start to traumatise me 😂

I love it too and that is not normally my thing! Use cream and soft grey accents and embrace the vintage. It could be very cool Smile

makingmyway10 · 02/05/2020 16:45

Forgot to say definitely get rid of the carpet though!

ImDillDandin · 02/05/2020 16:47

Another one joining the chorus of positivity, I love it too! It was only a matter of time before coloured suites came back into fashion. My daughter, who is very stylish and has many Instagram followers for her interior design ideas on her own house, has had her kitchen tiled in the same pink. She has white walls and brushed gold taps, door handles and extractor hood which looks great.

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 16:47

makingmyway10 have no fear, it'll be the first thing to go as soon as I get the keys!

I'd get rid of the wallpaper, paint the walls in dark green and also spray paint the tiles to make them plain white - as a temporary option before you replace the whole lot.

Some Pinterest ideas

RandomMess · 02/05/2020 16:52

I was gutted we had to take our 1960 pink suite out, only did it because the bath had been removed and we need a bath in there Sad

MrsMGE · 02/05/2020 16:52

This sort of colour scheme, OP.

I'm also for running with the dark blue and bringing throughout, there'll be LOADS on Pinterest like that. Definitely keep the wallpaper - expensive to get genuine looking retro paper nowadays!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 02/05/2020 17:03

Yayyyyy....chicken tiles! :o

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 17:12

I absolutely love it, including the wallpaper. Camping it up with flamingo pink is a great idea. Can you get an over the top loo seat, I reckon our blue sparkly one would look amazing.

mencken · 02/05/2020 17:13

before you do any decorative farting about, your first job is to check the functionality. A suite that old may mean that there has been no maintenance in decades. Get the bath panel off and check the floor beneath. Find out where the toilet overflow goes.

surprises in my experience include a bath sitting on damp chipboard from old leaks, THAT close to falling through to the room below, and an overflow that was also routed into the room below. Isolators may also not have been turned in years, if they exist at all.

and yes, the items may well be worth money!

I got married in 1970 and our first little house had a pink bathroom suite
The tiles which were just around the bath were black.
And there was a rather lurid pink carpet.
We thought it all rather wonderful.( I was only 20)
I think light grey tiles would be nice.

Butterbeaninjeans · 02/05/2020 17:17

I was at the ivy for lunch a while ago and the toilet fixtures were pink, it was stunning. a mix of silver gold decor.

totallyyesno · 02/05/2020 17:20

I think it looks great. White walls, new flooring and a few accessories is all it needs.

ivykaty44 · 02/05/2020 17:26

I’d use green paint, cork tiles on the floor (make sure you use ready varnished)

It would create a great calm relaxing bathroom on the cheap

Love the flamingo 🦩 paper

Don't change the loo seat. You will probably find that most modern loo seats won't stay up as the cistern is slightly curved unless they are very thin like the current one.

I think tiles that are only around the bath with a splash back for the sink (to save money) like that date a room. Maybe you could trawl ebay and pick up some matching tiles to at least tile the rest of the wall behind the loo and sink to the same height as around the bath. I would stick to white paint to make the pink suite stand out.

A bold mid century geometric pattern lino like a PP posted would look good. I would stick to chrome taps but good quality. I would also change things like the shelves and towel rail. Having bog standard (no pun intended) fittings makes the suite look cheap and dated rather than a design statement.

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 18:13

mencken it's a bungalow with concrete floors so hoping it's all sound. I will be taking the panel off as i will probably want to change the taps

My granny had those tiles in her bathroom. Sorry, I also love the pink bathroom suite.

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 18:57

Bet you weren’t expecting all the love for your pink suite @cittigirl!

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 19:01

Alsohuman no, definitely not. I like the paper too and just wondering how to preserve it now. I guess acrylic over the top of it perhaps. I'm worried it would get soaked by the shower.

I love the dark blue/green colour but may need it lighter. Lots of ideas and love 😊

Another who loves it! It's lovely Smile

Imtoooldforallthis · 02/05/2020 19:20

I'd go for navy or dark teal, something like this.
