Ideas for this pink bathroom suite

Please be kind Wink

I'm moving into a new place which requires renovating. But there are rooms that are first in line. Apart from ripping up the carpet, I'd like ideas how to brighten this bathroom up temporarily. Tia

I think white or off white/cream all through, get rid of the wallpaper and add a nice blind and accessories. Keep it neutral and have the pink as the only accent colour.
Cream, pink and grey is a nice combination. And a wooden floor in a light colour. It will look 100% better.

I sort of love it! I would go on pinterest and look up a lot of 'vintage bathroom' 'sixties/seventies bathroom' images of how very stylish, hip people (er not me) manage to make this kind of thing look amazing.

What I wouldn't do is try and semi-modernise it until you have the money to replace with exactly what you want.

The other upside is that a lot of old sanitary ware is actually incredibly good quality - we viewed a seventies bungalow last year that had an avocado AND a peach bathroom complete with immaculate floral tiles - we didn't get the house but I had already noted that the baths were huge and really high-end for their day, and was going to kind of play up to their seventies strengths until I could afford to do my dream refit. Unfortunately we didn't get the house.

I actually think that bathroom suite could look really cool. I'd pick white or a neutral warm grey like dulux chic shadow and have all the walls neutral.

Can you retile the backsplash? White subway tiles would look good or use white tile paint for a temporary fix

TeddyIsaHe · 02/05/2020 16:06

I actually really love that suite! Change the taps and go with gold accessories and lots of white everywhere else.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 02/05/2020 16:06

I might be tempted to embrace the horror...pink flamingo paper, pink loo rolls, gt someone to crochet you a crinoline toilet roll lady

definitely get the carpet out...

But the pp suggestion of white and grey sounds best :o

daysofpearlyspencer · 02/05/2020 16:09

Retile and lose the soap dish, change taps and maybe box in sink and pipes around the loo. Looks like good quality suite.

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 16:09

Thankyou for being positive 😊
Peonyonpoint I agree, the bath and sink are in fab condition for their age. The toilet is clean and condition but I'll get a new seat. Colour?

If you put 'pink bathroom suite' into pinterest you get a lot of cool ideas - some out there, some a bit more conservative!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 02/05/2020 16:14

I bloody love it! Yeah take up the carpet and replace the loo seat but I'd leave the rest until I was ready to replace the whole lot.

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 16:17

daysofpearlyspencer I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to box the pipework in neatly but I guess a joiner would gave some ideas. Maybe I wont have to replace it anytime soon after all. That'll save me a few quid for now. 🤔

Ooh how wonderfully retro, including original 1970s tiles! We had those at home, only in blue to match a blue suite.

I'd get rid of the carpet immediately (yuk) and that hideous wallpaper, and yes to replacing the loo seat, but I'd totally keep the rest.

BruceAndNosh · 02/05/2020 16:19

Our first house had a much pinker bathroom than that when we moved in. With lime green tiles and pink faux tile wallpaper!

The first image in this article would be relatively easy to recreate cheaply - and they purchased the pink suite themselves. Grey wood laminate flooring and grey paint above the tiles both cheap and easy to DIY. Then a big statement mirror on the wall above the radiator, you could paint the frame a corresponding pink to the suite to tie it in more.

PragmaticWench · 02/05/2020 16:23

I genuinely love this!! The paper too!

I'd box in the pipes, paint the walls white or off-white and just get new taps and toilet seat. If the wallpaper isn't damaged then keep it, it's great!

Simonfromharlow · 02/05/2020 16:25

Is it wrong that I kind of love it?!

ShowOfHands · 02/05/2020 16:27

I love it op.

We are currently replacing our bathroom. It had a peach suite, including corner bath and mint green textured wallpaper. It was terrible! We have actually bought a replacement vintage suite with painted designs on the ceramic, crazy flooring and lots of other quirks. I love a retro bathroom. You can keep your modern white suites and coordinating towels.

We've done it all ourselves, moving all plumbing to behind walls and under floorboards. It's worth getting it out of sight if you can.

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 16:28

Smile love that you're all loving it. I'll do my best to embrace it then

can you do a close up of the tiles...are they the "chicken or hedgehog?" ones??

Chicken or hedgehog tiles

We had those in avocado at home, my dad put his foot down and they were the pay off for my ma who thought a avocado suite would be the bathroom of her dream....we stuck with white with the avocado tile

And we ruined my aunt's bathroom for her since she had gone pink, and to my mother's eternal envy had been allowed a pink suite but had not spotted the pattern in the tiles and once we pointed it out to her she said all she could see was upside down chickens and hedghogs and they were upsetting her! :o :o

ofwarren · 02/05/2020 16:30

I LOVE that bathroom suite!!
You could make it look gorgeous. I agree that Pinterest is the best place to look for ideas.

keepingbees · 02/05/2020 16:30

I love the idea uptheead about the pink flamingo wallpaper. I think you could make it look amazingly retro.
When you do eventually rip it out try and preserve it, I'm sure someone would buy it!

cittigirl · 02/05/2020 16:32

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow I thought they were just random ish lines Shock

Oh we had those tiles in green too and noticed the 'chickens' when I was a kid aswell.

Apolloanddaphne · 02/05/2020 16:40

I love the 'chicken' wall tiles. My DM would be pleased to see they are the right way up. It makes her sad seeing these tiles with the chickens upside down!
