Tell me about living in Mold?

Hi
Am looking to move near to Chester and looking for locations. Any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated!
Daily commute will be to Ellesmere Port and looking for detached house up to £640k with at least 3 beds, off street parking and large garden. Don’t need any schools. Any others area suggestions welcome!

£640k is a fantastic budget for a 3 bed in Chester, you really don't need to be looking at anywhere with a longer commute. However you don't want to be too close to Ellesmere Port either!

Try Christleton, Littleton, Waverton, Mickle Trafford, all great on the edge of Chester. Upton and Hoole in Chester, or on the other side of town Handbridge as previously suggested or Curzon Park if anything suitable available though these two not quite so great for the commute.

Rayna37 · 07/01/2020 18:04

M53 pretty good for traffic but the M56 (so anything Frodsham/Northwich direction) is really bad for regular jams and heavy traffic.

Lookingatlocations · 07/01/2020 18:51

Thanks for the info! Was thinking of looking towards Warrington-is this too far a commute?

Rayna37 · 07/01/2020 18:56

It's not too far as such but I just don't see why you'd want to... longer commute with much worse traffic and just not as nice. If your budget was less maybe, but honestly you'd be mad to live anywhere other than Chester or the surrounding villages, or at a push maybe one of the nicer parts of the Wirral.

Whitchurch Road, Rowton, Chester, CH3

Will look at those thanks. What are the nicer parts on the Wirral?

I wouldn't want to live in Warrington as it is a bottleneck to get around.

Lookingatlocations · 07/01/2020 19:39

What’s Rowton like?

What about this one?

It's fabulous but essentially the middle of nowhere with a dreadful commute. The A51 crawls and the other option is quite a lot of small roads then the M56.

Rowton is very small but essentially joined on to Christleton and Waverton, both great villages, nice pubs, Christleton a bit posher but whole area is good.

Lookingatlocations · 07/01/2020 21:14

Thanks, was too ££££ and bit spooky anyway! Be interesting to see if it sells fast?

Can anyone advise me about Upton?
Thanks

maddy68 · 07/01/2020 23:54

Oxton is lovely on the Wirral, handbridge in Chester , christelton, all lovely

Lookingatlocations · 08/01/2020 00:57

Hadn’t heard of Oxton will have a look, thanks.

Rayna37 · 08/01/2020 08:53

Upton is great, close to the zoo and park and ride into town, nice houses and good area.

Lookingatlocations · 08/01/2020 09:35

Thanks will definitely look there. Am staying at the Hilton in Chester am was surprised by the road noise! Are there any areas I should avoid because of this?

Jins · 08/01/2020 12:31

The Doubletree just off the A55? [Waves]

You get used to it but if it’s a problem for you then avoid the Chester southerly bypass corridor.

Upton by Chester is very nice. Upton in Wirral also pretty good

Lookingatlocations · 08/01/2020 13:06

Yes near Warrington Road, when you stand in the car park the road noise is everywhere! Was going to look at a house in Pipers Ash but not sure if road noise is an issue there?

Yes, Littleton is excellent, borders on to Christleton and easy access to A51 and M53

The doubletree is my gym.

The main question to help advise on areas is what sort of a place do you actually want to live? Village feel or city, shops within walking distance, good pubs, community activities, what hobbies etc? If there are two of you will the other be at home in the day (and if so, what sort of thing do they want to be able to do with their time) or if looking for work, what field?

Jins · 08/01/2020 15:32

Pipers ash is quieter than the doubletree carpark. The doubletree is in a triangle of busy routes into Chester with the motorway/a55 in spitting distance.

Littleton is nice but Tarvin Road is busy at rush hour. Takes ages to turn onto it sometimes.

Would definitely help to know what sort of location you’re after

Lookingatlocations · 08/01/2020 21:24

Hi thanks for replying- looking for largish private garden, decent sized reception rooms, not too remote with at least a pub and shop within walking distance, something not way overpriced compared to real value and community we can get involved with to meet people!

MountainPeakGeek · 08/01/2020 21:48

With your budget, and needing to get to Ellesmere Port for work, I'd definitely be looking at Chester (a bit biased - I used to live there!) and Upton is lovely.
