I've started a thread looking for advice re the gap above my units.
I'd value your comments please.

Ooooh the larder.

soakedat3 · 02/11/2019 19:47

Sofa looks comfy @WorrisomeHeart. Is it? I was looking at a snuggle chair from there but too lazy to go try it out. The journey stresses me out as there is a bit where I have to cross several lanes of motorway quickly and I am a wuss.

I am very impressed how clean and tidy your fitters have been though wheredoes. Are you pleased so far? The handles look well positioned too.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 02/11/2019 23:22

@soakedat3 It looks clean and tidy because they'd gone home!
It's not finished but they'd fitted everything that was possible.
It's now a waiting game. I hope the same fitters are available when the missing stuff arrives

I'm so jealous of your lovely kitchenwhere - it's so nearly finished! Your extension is huge and so light and airySmile
I've hit fed up! The whole house is in a jumble and it's so dusty! It's impossible to make meals on one ring and a mini oven, can't be bothered with having to wash up in the upstairs bathroom and a couple of the builder's incessant chatter is beginning to wind me upGrin Aaaagh!
But our kitchen was delivered yesterday, so we're making progress and the patio is finished and looks really good. I just have to keep patient and know it's not forever! Will be asking for the dishwasher to ge plumbed in asapGrin

WorrisomeHeart · 03/11/2019 06:49

@soakedat3 yes it’s not bad - we went to try them out but then I ordered it online for delivery. The delivery was great and I’ll definitely be doing that for the Platsa config when we do the walk in wardrobe finally

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 05/11/2019 14:03

The good news is that my poncy Italian radiators are finally connected
The bad news is that they refuse to heat up.....

Oh they are absolutely beautiful though.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 05/11/2019 14:11

At the moment they are not radiators, just £3.5 k worth of Art

OP posts:
soakedat3 · 05/11/2019 14:26

They are stunning works of art if that helps? Fingers crossed they get sorted out soon.

New Dad roused himself to reply to a message to say he would call but then did not call! Positive - he is alive. Negative - he is ignoring us again. SIGH!!!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 05/11/2019 15:08

The rads are...
Feeling hot hot hot!

OP posts:
soakedat3 · 05/11/2019 17:24

Woohoo!!! I bet you are so pleased with them!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 05/11/2019 17:29

Builder and I discussed drawing up a Snagging List to keep track of all the fiddly little essentials which will need to be done.
It has already been renamed the Nagging List.

Was it @soakedat3 who was asked every day for THE LIST?

OP posts:
minniemooblue · 05/11/2019 21:51

The radiators look amazing.

We are still trying to find a builder. Our architect has sent out a tender pack to 3 more. Just hope at least one of them comes in closer to budget than the first builder!

MyNameIsJane · 05/11/2019 22:04

I am loving the rads and the fact they’re rad hot now! Grin

soakedat3 · 05/11/2019 22:08

Yes it was me who made them THE LIST each time to work on. Quite interesting to see which ones preferred a good score through the items and which did a small tick!

Def do snagging lists. The small things are so easy to forget!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 07/11/2019 13:29

AAAAGGGGHHHHH!

We were rung by Virgin Media way back in the Spring asking if we wanted to upgrade our installation. I said we would want to at some point once we had finished our building work as the space we wanted to put new TV and Virgin box in didn't yet exist.
But we discussed the options.

Then once we had the shell ready, I spoke to them again and bloke suggested a V6 box and repeatedly said that it worked off WiFi, no cabling needed.
So I got electricians to put plugs for TV and boxes at the relevant height plus a conduit to hide the cables up to the TV, cos I thought that's all we needed.

Virgin arrive today with 2 new boxes, one for old living room which is cabled and one for the extension...
WHICH ALSO REQUIRES HARD WIRING, and NO the box in the extension can't work purely on Wifi....

So now we have a bloody cable stapled to my newly painted skirting board.

Engineer was equally pissed off as he repeatedly goes to installations where the customer has been told by Virgin salespeople that they don't need a cable when they do

Arse.

OP posts:
soakedat3 · 07/11/2019 21:44

That sucks @WhereDoesThisToiletGo. I hope the cable was at least white. Could you pull skirting off and hide cable and re attach?

New Dad has sent apologies for ignoring me and is going to fix window sill. I want to believe so, so much!!

I am trying to convince OH that we should get a bigger radiator for the utility as it's pretty cold in there. Is it pointless to heat a mainly un-occupied room? There is a small radiator there. But really small!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 08/11/2019 05:15

@soakedat3 Yes, it's a white cable!
Re Utilty radiator - depends on how long you spend in there when it is occupied. If you're using it to dry laundry (don't you have those funky extending racks?) it's worth heating it decently.
Also unless everyone ensures the door is always shut (and it's not gappy) you will lose heat from the rest of the house into a cold spot.

Yesterday was a positive day, albeit expensive.
Ordered bar stools and blinds and a few other bits and bobs for new room.

New room needs a name now it's a kitchen with a living area at one end.
Estate agents would call the living area the Family Room but there are only 2 of us...
It's not remotely Snug. It's not the TV room as existing other living room has a TV too. We can't keep calling it the Extension
"Have you seen my mobile?"
"yes, it's in that bit off the kitchen that we knocked a wall down and spent far too much money on" Grin

lightlypoached · 09/11/2019 21:45

Hello all. Sitting in my lounge/diner/kitchen with wine and wondering how you are all getting on?

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 10/11/2019 07:28

@lightlypoached are you completely finished and builder free?
And are you going to keep referring to your extension as the lounge /kitchen /diner too, cos it's very exhausting, isn't it? Grin

OP posts:
lightlypoached · 10/11/2019 17:20

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo nowhere near finished! The lounge/kitchen/diner is our lounge with a temp kitchen and the dining table squashed in. It's our only downstairs room 😂. We sit and watch telly (all of us squished on 1 sofa), with the gently hum of the mini fridge and dishwasher right next to us.

Our steels are now in and the roof struts go up next week. ETA for the finish is end of Jan. We don't even have room for a Christmas tree Grin

Throwing in a bit of kitchen CAD porn. Our actual windows will be black Crittal style, and the floor walnut.

Ah, I understand! You're in Limbo...
We are lucky to have 2 reception rooms available but the dining room has the kitchen table (with humongous microwave oven perched on one end), big FF, and 20 crates of kitchen contents.
Other living room now has 4 sofas and 3 armchairs and looks like a branch of DFS!

OP posts:
WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 10/11/2019 17:46

I love your CAD design - very open and uncluttered.
Will you have a table in there?
