We paid a 20% deposit, 75% paid the day before the delivery date and 5% after all snagging was completed - this was with a local firm who were recommended by our builders and did the installation as well.

soakedat3 · 11/09/2019 19:37

@pazraz10, that is what I would've thought too. We did it all through builders who have previously fitted kitchens for this company before. He paid a 40% deposit but suppliers saying that kitchen was not late as order was not put in until full amount paid. I don't think this was properly communicated. And also a bit off.

Isittheend · 11/09/2019 20:41

Wheredoesthistoiletgo, that's annoying. I think I find it most annoying when people can't just say, sorry and try to bluster over it.
Not Mary- Very excited for you. Months before we start.

WorrisomeHeart · 11/09/2019 22:42

We got ours on interest free so have only paid £800 so far 😂. (I am ignoring the rest to be paid by mid next year at the moment).

So boiler man left just before 9pm tonight but we are almost there. He’s done a cracking job of getting the new gas main re-routed under the floorboard and I am very (easily 😂) pleased with the new smart thermostat. I am so tired of workmen in the house though, so the rest of the house may need to stay crappy once these builds are over 😂

WorrisomeHeart · 11/09/2019 22:44

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo how annoying. Will you be able to adjust the kitchen delivery ok?

NotMaryWhitehouse · 12/09/2019 06:30

Thanks @Isittheend!

northernruth · 12/09/2019 13:42

hello all, sorry been AWOL (oddly I keep forgetting about this thread whenever things get stressful).

Anyone finished? Not RTFT yet

My builders have gone off on a boys holiday to Key West. Before they went they took down the kitchen ceiling to allow Kev the electrician to install spots. In doing so they broke two of the glass shades on my vintage 70s light fitting that I have repeatedly mentioned that I am going to use in the new living room.

Plus I had a mad panic last night that the new bathroom was going to be too small - it's currently full of old skirting boards and architraves and feels tiny and dark. Went round the houses with all the alternative upstairs layouts (all of which would require a lot of rework/ rewire/ walls down) before concluding that actually as it is will do. Am still in two minds.......

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/09/2019 13:56

I spent yesterday afternoon and this morning labelling the already removed kitchen units with their matching doors in the most irritating game of Pelmanism ever.
Would have taken me 10 minutes if I'd had the nous to do it while everything was still intact!
Plumber came and did a bit of ripping out and capping off.
Thankfully I overheard him being told to more the gas supply to the other side of the room as hob was going to a new position, and was able to remind BBB that I'm having an electric hob so don't bother!

Shows how accepting I am of the process that water all over floor didn't worry me!
I keep saying "it will be all worth it" and gazing at the CAD rendering of finished space.
I also have the benefit of being able to say to Mr WheresDoes "this was all your idea!"

Noroof that's so annoying about your lights!! Will they replace?!

Have you got a proposed layout of the bathroom? I'm sure it will be fine!

Haha wheredoes you can name change to wheredoesthiskitchengo

Agree re. Looking at the plans. I'm obsessed with our kitchen design now I keep looking at it. Just can't imagine it actually being a real life kitchen that belongs to me at any point!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/09/2019 16:45

I've just changed the background photo on my laptop to the CAD of my extension, to encourage me every time I open up the spreadsheet to put yet another payment in !

I love a bit of CAD porn, nearly as much as Larder Porn

@avocuddl that's very stylish. Talk us through it - what's the colour scheme?

OP posts:
avocuddl · 12/09/2019 19:34

That's just the kitchen design cad so not the floor etc! But we just had the design finalised :) going for light grey on the wall and dark grey or dark blue on the island. Oak worktops and light white Corian on the island. There will actually be a sink in the island but the kitchen designer couldn't put it in as they don't sell the size that I want so having a bespoke cupboard.

What do you think??

soakedat3 · 12/09/2019 21:20

@northernruth, I'm not finished yet. Nothing done today but I was told they wouldn't so was ok with it. I must update my list but I think maybe a day of outside work and a day of inside work left. IF they just get on with it!

Love the mix of worktops @avocuddl. And the dark island. Is that units on the seating side also? Where will sink go now? Oh and is that a 1000 larder? :D

soakedat3 · 12/09/2019 21:27

The reality of our kitchen was better than the CAD because the CAD was quite lacklustre and they didn't have the right doors and door colours.

These are very tidy pictures. The un seen bits have tools and dust.

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo - you might spot we used more Minerva up and put an extra downstand at the wall to even up the bbfast bar. Still awaiting my larder drawers to be done before sharing larder porn!

It's just fantastic @soakedat3 and really does look SO much better than the CAD! I think I'm going to have your tiles too as a splashback.

The sink is going in the centre of the island, opposite (well just off) the hob. It's not a 1000 larder, it's a fridge freezer and a 600 cupboard where I'll have my appliances.

But I'll have this (pic attached) which IS a 1000 larder so I will be joining the larder club!! CANNOT WAIT!

We are getting there. The plasterer took ill and my contractor went on holiday so the pace has slowed a bit. Hopefully doors and bathroom in next week and then its just snagging and little bits and we are done!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/09/2019 21:45

I remember your original CAD @soakedat3, but it had really dark walls, and possibly yellow seats?
I love your marble tiles behind the hob, so bright and fresh

OP posts:
avocuddl · 12/09/2019 21:49

How long does plastering take in your experience?

Noroof · 12/09/2019 21:53

We have had our hall upstairs, stairs and hall downstairs plus kitchen wall in the last 2 days. One plasterer

soakedat3 · 12/09/2019 22:03

You have a good memory @WhereDoesThisToiletGo!

Thanks. It took a long time to choose a marble tile to match the worktop but I think I got it in the end.

Our plastering took forever but in reality was probably only 4 days spread about.

That's lovely @soakdat3. I love the white worktop.

Noroof · 13/09/2019 07:19

A downside to building...
