Only a few posts left on the first thread of 2019, so here's a new one to get us started.

So we have threw a spanner in the works during renovating, now I'm even more keen to move in!

Unexpectedly found out I'm pregnant iwth number 2! 😂

Bathroom currently going in and kitchen going in this weekend 🤞

lightlypoached · 01/08/2019 07:28

Ours is ticking along. Got an email from party wall person with the letters and an offer to do 'a survey' (mostly taking photos it seemed) of NDN property for £500 (!). Responded back to what I thought was only my DH saying 'money for,old rope, we can pop round and take pics ourself?' , only to find I'd sent that email to,the party wall person too Blush ooops, embarrassing.

Soil samples taken yesterday. Plans are showing on council website. I do hope the PD passes or we will have delays. Our plans are for 3m high extension but council website says it's 3,3m . Will have to call builders to check.

Kitchen slot secured (it's German and they are off for all of August so we have to order now so,they can make it when they get back and have time to ship it over). Kitchen co gave us a really good, deal,on appliances. The fancy extractor hob was £500 cheaper than nearest online, and fridge £200 cheaper. Both are still eye wateringly expensive but we cook 3-5 meals a day in our house so need something big and robust that we hope will last. Our house has a lot of people in it every day. It's a madhouse. 😁

Only a month until we are supposed to start.

Now wrestling with getting quotes for parquet floor fitting. Estimates so far ranging from £28psqm to £400 (!) psqm. What the hell is all that about? Both exclude the floor itself.

Getting estimates for all of this work has been a rollercoaster. I find myself constantly picking myself up off the floor, having read the incoming prices from some companies. Grin

Lovely seeing the photos of all these projects, you lot are inspiring (and scaring) me in equal measure !

Good luck with the appliances Worrisome :D

avocuddl · 01/08/2019 08:15

Congrats @WBWIFE !! It isn't grand designs without an unexpected pregnancy!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 01/08/2019 08:41

@lightlypoached if you pm me with your location, I can give you details of who did our parquet

WBWIFE · 01/08/2019 09:59

Thank you everyone ❤️❤️ we were going to Vegas as a treat once renovations were done and we had settled in April but baby had different ideas! Going to be due end of March!

True grand designs style 😂😂

avocuddl · 01/08/2019 10:40

@lightlypoached £400 per m2 is just outrageous!! Who is buying that?! That would be £20k for our extension 🤣

WorrisomeHeart · 01/08/2019 11:25

@WBWIFE huge congrats, that’s brilliant news!!! A thread baby - I sincerely hope all our extensions are done before the baby arrives 😂

Oven and washing machine are in and sorted!!! I’ve also had it confirmed that I have tonsillitis so am collapsed on the sofa trying to rest while the plasterboard is finalised in the kitchen. Oh and yesterday our credit card was cloned. It doesn’t rain, it monsoons 🙄

WBWIFE · 01/08/2019 11:32

@WorrisomeHeart I hope for everyone's sake that the renovations are done before baby arrives haha

MyNameIsJane · 01/08/2019 12:15

Get well WorrisomeHeart and congratulations WBWIFE!

Noroof · 01/08/2019 18:14

Fab @Noroof !! Looks brilliant!

Yay @WorrisomeHeart ! Can I ask what ovens youve gone for? They look lovely!

WorrisomeHeart · 02/08/2019 06:58

It’s a Zanussi ZOD35802XK - from memory it was a Which Best Buy.

soakedat3 · 02/08/2019 09:51

Great windows @Noroof!

Today I am thinking how easy it would be to do things if we didn't have to consider steels ruining ceilings and ducting needing bulkheads and joined to the outside. New Dad suggested that the bulkhead could go in OH's games room (the kids playroom got integrated with devices now they are older) and it was a hard no on that one!

One day I too will have a working oven! :D :D

WorrisomeHeart · 02/08/2019 10:38

Very quiet here today - the screeders have been and screeded and gone, and there is currently only one builder onsite - in the loft finishing off doors etc. It’s lovely and peaceful 😂

avocuddl · 02/08/2019 10:53

Question! Have you all got build over agreements from your water companies? We've had building control round and they are happy with the proposal for the drains and say we don't need to contact water company. Does that sound right?

WorrisomeHeart · 02/08/2019 11:08

We don’t need one for ours - unless the new water main that the team are digging does, but we’re waiting on BC to tell us that.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 02/08/2019 11:56

Depends where your drains are.
Most drains exit via the front of the property and most extensions are at the back.
Our water company contacted us (they do this regardless of the build) and we told them we weren't digging anywhere near their drains.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 02/08/2019 11:59

No builders here either but it's not lovely and peaceful as there are builders working on house behind and house to the front (the back of their house faces the front of ours)
I'm looking jealously at their steels
