Kitchen arrives today!

soakedat3 · 03/08/2019 10:38

Ooooh!! So exciting @NoRoof!

Noroof · 03/08/2019 14:36

Arrived. Order seems complete and no damage. The builder was impressed with the quality and is now looking at them for other projects!

WBWIFE · 03/08/2019 15:03

Was that diy kitchens @noroof? Ours started going in today. Exciting x

Noroof · 03/08/2019 15:14

No... we went worth with Betterkitchens. I was concerned re DIY reputation at the moment

WBWIFE · 03/08/2019 15:20

Img lad it went well. Never heard of them! I think diy kitchens are sorted now. My delivery was great and everyone who I've spoke to with recent deliveries are OK. Delivery times gone back to normal too.

When is yours being fitted? How exciting!

Noroof · 03/08/2019 15:55

Be fitted Monday I hope!

They basically offered the exact same as DIY. It's funny but once I started researching I found several companies that offered a similar service. I think Betterkitchens could also help with planning although I had my plan already.

I visited DIY showroom and I'm convinced this is the same quality

WorrisomeHeart · 03/08/2019 16:01

We’ve been out for most of today and have come back to a framed in utility space!! And also a photo of the kitchen from by the doors (currently boarded up) in the extended area. Loooove it all.

Hooray for kitchen arriving @Noroof!! That’s super exciting. How long do they think t will take to fit?

Noroof · 03/08/2019 16:06

I'm not entirely sure... they guys certainly are fast workers. There are other things going on in the roof like veluxes to be fitted but I think the kitchen is a priority as I need to move back in 2 weeks today!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 03/08/2019 16:40

Curiosity got the better of me and I took a hammer to one of our walls....

Wheredoes, ours was like that except blue.

So turns out our leaky roof is still not fixed. Oh went out on our roof and took little video of what we think is wrong as could see a lifted up bit of lead flashing. So glad we've not paid all our money yet! But to give him his due new dad hasn't moaned about it, just fetches roofer and they try another fix... That's 2 goes they've had so far. Confused

We have been having plasterring done. Plus many, many holes in ceiling to get lights into position. Love seeing some sharp corners! Hate the dust!

@worrisomeheart, your larder looks awesome! Is it internal drawers at the bottom?

TheFatberg · 03/08/2019 20:45

We've had the last of our DIY missing and damaged pieces arrive today. So hopefully we can finally get the house finished! Utility room is all that needs doing now, though we've got a fence to arrange and blinds to sort in some of the new rooms.

TheFatberg · 03/08/2019 20:47

@soakedat3 I hated the dust so much. I had a really bad cough for a few weeks because of it. I'm sure I'll be finding dusty items for years.

Who was it who had the zip up dust doors?
Are they worth it and if so which ones did you get?

WorrisomeHeart · 03/08/2019 21:21

Lol to the wall hole - I hope that’s a wall that’s due to come down 😜

@soakedat3 yep, 4 medium sized ones and 2 small ones. I can’t wait to start using it properly.

@wheredoes. It was me with the plastic doors. Definitely worth it for when they were doing the really messy stuff in the loft - roof down / walls moving etc. We don’t use them now because most of the mess is over in the loft and fairly contained in the kitchen.

They were these ones; True Products Dust Stop Zip Door Kit B5017B - Pre-Assembled for easy installation. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008BT6ORU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SYErDbVQRPR1R?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Make sure you get some decent masking tape to stick them up with and be careful of heavy hoofed people trampling through them 😂

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 04/08/2019 08:28

@WorrisomeHeart ha ha yes a condemned wall! We were moving cabinets out of work area and hanging them in another room and wanted to check the wall construction so that we used the right wall plugs.
Thanks for the link to dust door - i discussed taping the door shut but would prefer NOT to have to go out the front door and in through the garage to use the kitchen.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 04/08/2019 11:42

Bummer. First thing this morning Amazon delivery on those dust doors item was same day (how is that even possible?) but because I faffed about it won't be until tomorrow.
I hope BBB is not planning on making mess tomorrow.

WorrisomeHeart · 04/08/2019 18:15

Can you tape the doors up for tomorrow?

TheFatberg · 04/08/2019 21:28

I've realised that I hate integrated kitchen bins and have bought a new bin. We'll use the integrated one for recycling only.

OP posts:
Noroof · 05/08/2019 07:22

@TheFatberg oh no why?? Its the one thing I'm really excited about having

TheFatberg · 05/08/2019 14:01

@Noroof I don't know if it's just too small and I'm too lazy to empty the bin more often than I used to. There's three compartments in ours so maybe that's the issue. What have you gone for with yours?

OP posts:
MyNameIsJane · 05/08/2019 14:06

I got used to having an integrated bin as our dog (gawd rest her soul) would go scavenging if left to her own devices. I think if they extend fully, they’re okay. I’m not impressed with my mums one though. Holds hardly anything in it.

My husband has renamed my BIL as Saint M- the patron saint of kitchen fitting/saviour of our kitchen. Such is our appreciation of him and his help this weekend.Grin

Noroof · 05/08/2019 14:59

2 26l bins I think
