Our front door is in. Long story but it arrived damaged 😫 it's in and lovely but it's going to be replaced!
Our fencing has started today, the short ones are new, the others are getting ripped out

Skips in naively.

Started our ridic renovation a month ago , moved out to a rental with a 3 day old and 2.5 yr old.

Loft and pod for 2 bedrooms, shower room, side return and new cloakroom, plus each resulting room, 2 bedrooms and a study, sitting room and stairwell is being skimmed and two chimney stacks removed, new radiators and new boiler. Basically bankrupting whilst i am on mat leave. Oh and ceilings lowered. Thank you Wandsworth planners and architects.

Now . Anyone seen my marbles? I lost them reading this thread!

Stuckinstressville · 05/04/2018 12:57

We are equally nutjobs... am still reeling from 3 bills this week for the party awards, one for us, and both neighbours choosing their own.. topping over £6k in total. grrrrrrrrr.

So far over £20k down due to thames water negotiations, sewer reviews, planning, building regs, surveyors, architects, structural engineers. Anyone else want to bill me?

Only £200k to go...( not even joking) . Steel is £££. apparently and BREXIT more so.

Builders are lovely so far though!

bobkate · 05/04/2018 17:20

I think that's the hardest part - when you have to part with huge amounts of money into things that you don't 'see'. Groundworks, etc.

4yearsnosleep · 05/04/2018 17:44

Oh jeez, that sounds like a nightmare 🙈 I'm dreading the costs if there's anything unexpected regarding the drains & also the huge Steele that we need 🤦🏽‍♀️ I suspect I should budget wine costs into our contingency

Tika77 · 05/04/2018 21:37

Stressville, that sounds awful. The party wall costs would probably make me want to never speak to neighbours again.

We have a painted house 😬😍

It looks lovely Bax! Is that you finished now?

Baxdream · 08/04/2018 15:07

Well we decided to rip our old bathroom out yesterday (we must be mad!)
We have the vehicle gate to go on and then our landscaping starts on the 30th.
We are essentially done though as none of these effect our enjoyment!

DustandRubble · 08/04/2018 15:17

Haha to ripping out the bathroom! Glutton for punishment.

I am hoping the extension will start going up next week If the weather holds. They were welding the steels together the last 2 days. Our hallway is looking pretty good with the woodwork and stairs getting its first coat of paint. Maybe we will get bookshelves in the dining area next week too.

I am still trying to find a new dining room table for the space. It is proving tricky.

Baxdream · 08/04/2018 15:21

Ooh that's all very exciting!
I'd definitely recommend Konk for a bespoke table!

Baxdream,
That looks amazing!

TeamRick · 08/04/2018 20:34

Bax wow that looks amazing!

Plodding on here, little jobs, had someone round sorting tv ariels on Saturday, after 6 months of cold & wet weather we have actually managed to paint the front door- it was either too wet or too cold to paint, shelves are up in the kitchen.

Work on our garden starts on 16 April! Excited much!

Baxdream · 09/04/2018 08:50

Ah teamrick I hope you're enjoying your lovely new home.
We had a free view aerial fitted and it's fab!

Good luck with your garden, ours starts on the 30th!

At the boarding out stage here and waiting for doors and will then finally be watertight three months after starting due to this sodding weather. Then plastering can start then finally finally finally the kitchen is being delivered next week. Smile

Tika77 · 09/04/2018 21:37

That’s not bad progress ponzus. We started in September and doors only arrive next week. The kitchen has been in place since Feb though. (The only part that I organised and it arrived on time.)

ponzusoup · 11/04/2018 07:50

It's only a small side return ! So actually quite slow. Now have lighting dilemma. Over island - pendants that only light downwards or ones that are for example glass and illuminate outward if you see what I mean. Am having minimal spotlights in ceiling but trying to avoid harsh overhead lighting.

4yearsnosleep · 11/04/2018 09:33

We had a similar dilemma Ponzu, in the end we went for the one that we loved the most which is a 12inch metal one from Industville. I think the 3 of them will fully light the island. I did love quite a few glass ones, but I thought they might be a bugger to keep clean

DustandRubble · 11/04/2018 09:38

We have spots over our island so no help here! The pendants will be over the dining table.

Things are slow here. Our builders have had staffing issues and this damn rain is not doing much for us either. I feel like this will never end.

Baxdream · 11/04/2018 10:02

We have our extractor above our island, then spots around the kitchen and a pendant above our dining table

4yearsnosleep · 11/04/2018 10:12

Hugs Dust. I imagine this weather is causing havoc with all building projects. Our builder is coming to us as soon as he's finished his current job but I suspect that he's going to be delayed by the shit weather

Tika77 · 11/04/2018 10:29

We have some fully plastered rooms now in the back. Shame some of it needs to be re-done. Some skirtings are on and some doors. It's looking really house-shaped now.

Rendering outside will hopefully happen this weekend for half of the house.

jigster01 · 11/04/2018 21:12

Hi ponzu we have spot lights around and then downward lights above island ..we were umming and ahring and thought about glass as you but did only want the island area lit ...we have them all on dimmers too ...looks great ...my kitchen is on here if you have a Google on my name

Whattodowithaminute · 11/04/2018 22:07

Checking back in with very little progress to report-enjoying some holiday sun away from it all during school hols and hoping to come back refreshed ready for the big push to get this house finished...

theredjellybean · 11/04/2018 22:18

I have the startling progress of an appointment with the kitchen designer.. Wow

ponzusoup · 12/04/2018 09:17

Waiting for doors today. Anxious as they've been delayed by a week now. Supposedly arriving before 12. Builders here and getting on with other stuff whilst we all wait. Tenterhooks. Be a big moment to get them in after months of tarpaulin hanging over the back.

The search for a Floor continues. Wanting EnGineered light oak. Any advice?
