Stressful as it will be I think you've made the right call. Once your house is sold in the money's in the bank you'll have more power to your elbow and can throw your toys out the pram a bit more effectively.

Make it clear to the EA that if anything else suitable comes up than that sake is lost too.

We had to move out to prevent our sale being lost when I was in my teens, I had to be taken out of school and my mum and I moved 150m up North to stay with relatives and my dad dossed in a colleagues flat for 6 weeks.

They did all this because they loved the house but when it came to the crunch and the vendors tried to move the completion date again my Dad walked into the EA and demanded to see all properties in a 30m radius that were empty and available for cash. The EA told him he couldn't do that, to which he pointed out he could, at this point, do whatever the hell he wanted.

It was then our vendors turn to move out and stick everything in storage to avoid losing their sale Grin

benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 18:31

well phoned as advised and the chap covering for my solicitor said he agreed 5weeks and no information from them was unacceptable and while he had my file out he was going to speak to head of conveyancing at sellers solicitor. To follow that I spoke to the seller who followed it with a phone call to them saying he wanted action. So lets see what happens now.
9th of April was last we heard from them and if it wasn't that the seller has kept emailing me and telling me what he had taken in I wouldn't know anything. I still haven't even had fixtures and fittings form yet. this is a joke now especially when there is no chain just us and the seller.

BeaufortBelle · 14/05/2015 19:10

Doesn't seem any closer to exchange. Our agent seemed to imply the bottom was further apart than I thought last night after I questioned them closely.

I'm irritated now and reaching the point where I would take pleasure in saying. If we do not exchange by close of business on please be aware that our property is no longer for sale.

OP posts:
benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 20:01

BeaufortBelle. I feel like that. feel like saying if its not exchanged by next Friday I am walking. They only problem is it would hurt the seller who is not at fault for slow solicitors .But its very tempting but the solicitor may just shrug their shoulders as it doesn't personally affect them.

BeaufortBelle · 14/05/2015 20:17

I know, we have lovely sellers too.

It isn't the solicitors here its two mendacious sets of buyers and guileful estate agents. I am sick of the lot of them to be honest.

OP posts:
benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 20:20

lets look on the bright side. maybe this time next week we both are exchanging.

BeaufortBelle · 14/05/2015 20:57

We'll see. DH and I are now calling the buyer at the bottom Fuckface and our buyer Shitbag. And we are really quite nice people Blush.

I think a Mnet housebuyers meetup is in order. We can celebrate or drown our sorrows.

benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 21:01

lol. that's how house buying gets you. I agree all of us should meet up and laugh about all this. its better than a episode of corrie.

BeaufortBelle · 14/05/2015 21:12

Oh God, not Corrie, the pub will burst into flames and all our loved ones will plot not to rescue us to pocket the life insurance Grin. Or we could have an estate agents charabanc outing to Blackpool hijacked by mad and wicked Jenny Bradley.

OP posts:
benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 21:14

lol

BeaufortBelle · 14/05/2015 21:21

Actually our Estate Agent deserves Jenny Bradley; possibly even Richard Hillman. Actually, a better thought - she needs to do business with Todd and Tracey Grin

We completed today and got the keys! It is such a good feeling and shows there's light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 21:47

CrystalSkull congrats

benjiman6 · 14/05/2015 21:48

CrystalSkull congrats

BeaufortBelle · 14/05/2015 22:35

crystalskull thrilled for you. Sleep tight - you must be exhausted.

CrystalSkull · 14/05/2015 23:11

So unbelievably exhausted! Hopefully now I can stop dreaming about it every night...

BeaufortBelle · 15/05/2015 05:16

I'm up - been lying awake for hours worrying about it.

Gowlane8 · 15/05/2015 08:24

Congratulations CrystallSkull.

I've had my solicitor lying about our mortgage status, and have been to the head of complaints about her. I'm now recording any phone calls! I was promised paperwork ''in the next few days'' so maybe today... or it will be yet another week.
And idea's on how to play hard ball with getting our sellers out? They are going to Spain, and not taking anything with them. We were promised beginning of June, and we still can't pin them down! How difficult is it ffs??!!
I am so stressed, and would appreciate ideas on pushing them out. They've already had 8 weeks to sort a date out! BeaufortBelle - hope you got some sleep?

TheEmpressofBlandings · 15/05/2015 09:49

Congratulations crystal! What a relief that must be, can't wait to get to that point.
We're going full on pushing to complete by the end of this month, but haven't even had the survey result yet! I'm starting to investigate builders etc to get work done ASAP after completion so we can move as quickly as possible. I'm very very nervous but really there should be nothing to hold us up (famous last words!).
Hope everyone waiting/battling gets some progress before the weekend

benjiman6 · 15/05/2015 17:07

My solicitor actually phoned the sellers solicitor today to be told at 11.45 that he was at lunch. he told them we were getting really annoyed at all the delay and wanted answers. told he would phone him back and guess what HE HASNT. these are top solicitors who have recently been upgraded to quality solicitors. what a joke. so another weekend wondering. could tell them where to go.

Gowlane8 · 15/05/2015 18:01

Today I got a contract to sign!! Don't get excited... the occupier still hasn't signed that he will move out. And the sellers declared that the selling price does not cover any mortgages or charges on the house..... emailed snotty solicitor who said '' it would appear they have ticked the wrong box'' They've had this 5 effing weeks.... and not even queried it??
benjiman6, that really stinks, The empressofblandings, fingers crossed for you.
Yet another weekend of getting nowhere drives you around the flipping twist! I did get some satisfaction telling mine to shove their £75 extra charge for septic tank enquiries up their ....

BeaufortBelle · 15/05/2015 18:15

Hmm. We have been advised that we might exchange on Monday. Seeing is believing.

OP posts:
Chesterado · 15/05/2015 18:51

Can I join in? Have managed to get to three months into buy/sell without needing moral support but starting to lose the will to live now. We are in a supposedly straightforward chain - our vendor is moving into rented whilst they build a new house and our buyer is in rented as they are first time buyers. We were supposed to complete first week of June and exchange this week but buyer has failed to transfer funds and vendor has got stroppy about lack of progress and has just informed us they are putting the house back on the market on Monday.

Have asked estate agents to urgently chase the buyer over the weekend, they think he is away with work rather than actually backing out. From the vendors perspective I'm sure this is just a bullying tactic as they have been getting increasingly frustrated and want to start building but it's doing nothing for my nerves. The house is half packed and we had really been hoping to sit down with a glass of wine tonight knowing we were more or less on the home straight.

Please tell me it's just a threat and it's not all going to go wrong. Even if they did put the house back on the market they couldn't progress a new offer faster than ours right!? (Although if they do actually do that I'm inclined to pull out full stop as so fed up it all now). Wahhhh.

benjiman6 · 15/05/2015 20:38

Chesterado join the stressed out club. the worse thing is weekends when you know you have to wait till Monday for any answers. sit down with your glass of wine and enjoy as you wont change anything and start the battle again Monday.

BeaufortBelle · 15/05/2015 20:49

Oh, I agree with that Benjiman. I just want a relaxed weekend now where I know I can move on to the next stage of our lives. At present we are not doing anything for fear of jinxing.
