We are transferring money tomorrow. :)

holmessweetholmes · 28/08/2014 08:19

Congratulations to all those who have exchanged or made progress! We still haven't had our mortgage offer, but then neither has anyone else in the chain, apparently.
I've been getting some quotes from removal companies - ouch! So expensive. But I suppose we are moving a looong way.

dottyaboutstripes · 28/08/2014 08:38

Good luck Gemma and congrats to those who've made progress!
We had an offer accepted, so here we go again! This time it's a 2 year old house rather than 100+, so hopefully no scary survey results Grin
So who knows, maybe we will be in by Christmas (that SHOULD happen as it's still only August, but as these threads have shown, you just never know!)

SheriffCallie · 28/08/2014 14:06

Hi everyone.
Dotty hurrah for finding a house. Hope it goes smoothly and you are in by Halloween, never mind Christmas. Any links to the house ?
Ms Freud did you get moved ok. You maybe don't have wifi yet. Or are too busy nursing a champagne headache to come back and update us ??.
Missda, hope your money transfer goes ok.
Juney are you exchanging today then? Fingers crossed!!
Holmes how far are you moving. We are moving a few miles away and are paying some 'men with a van' by the hour. So the pressure is on us to have boxes neatly stacked up by the door and furniture disassembled to save £££.

holmessweetholmes · 28/08/2014 14:20

SheriffCallie - we are moving from South Oxfordshire to the Lake District, so man with a van not really an option this time! We are going to go for the full packing option, which is a big relief as dh is having to move up there this Sunday as his new job starts. So I'll be on my own with the dc until our sale goes through Sad and don't much fancy packing up the whole house on my own!

dottyaboutstripes · 28/08/2014 15:25

Yeah I guess we could be in by Halloween! But we will still have to pay the 6 months' rent on this hole we are living in....
We just relocated from Norfolk to Cardiff and it was (is!) stressful. Dh in his wisdom chose for us to pack. The removal men congratulated me on the day, they knew I was annoyed and we did have LOADS of stuff (plus my dh was also working away for about half of the week's notice we had before the big move.
And now lucky us, we get to do it all over again ARGH! Though dh seems to think we can move it ourselves bit by bit. That should be extra fun.

juneybean · 28/08/2014 17:41

We have exchanged! Woot! Completing tomorrow and getting the keys tomorrow afternoon!

Well done getting the offer accepted Dotty

Thanks SheriffCallie, got keys yesterday! Moving in on Saturday! Currently struggling with last bits of packing. Will have another massive clear out unpacking to get rid of this clutter.

How funny - just down the road then! Potentially outing myself here but dh is going to be working at Dallam. Seems like a fab school.

holmessweetholmes · 29/08/2014 15:04

Oh and we finally got our mortgage offer (as well as getting our survey back, hearing that our vendor got their mortgage offer, and having our house valued by our buyer's mortgage company - all in the last 24 hours!) Looks like we could have a provisional moving date soon!

juneybean · 29/08/2014 15:09

Congratulations holmes fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!

I'm picking up the keys at 3.30pm!

OP posts:
holmessweetholmes · 29/08/2014 15:39

Oh how exciting, juneybean! Even now, I can hardly imagine being at that longed-for stage yet...

SheriffCallie · 29/08/2014 21:49

That's so cool that Lepaskilf and Holmes will be neighbours (sort of).
Holmes, sounds like good progress in 24hrs. Hopefully the rest of the process is as smooth.
Juneybean, hope you are in and getting settled. Congratulations!!
I too feel like that stage is a long way off. Having been getting geared up for exchange early next week and hopefully complete on Friday, we found out today that, although everything is in place for the house we are buying, the buy to let mortgage for our current property has some outstanding searches and we won't be ready to sign or complete for it by Friday. And even though we don't need any money from the transaction for onward purchase, the mortgage company won't release funds if we hold another residential mortgage so we can't progress until it's all done and dusted. So we are currently sitting here in a partially packed house, looking at boxes, and having no idea of when we will be moving on.

Anyway, we cheered ourselves up by taking the kids out to where the new house is, running about on the beach and then stopping for ice cream, all the while chanting "it'll be worth it, it'll be worth it" :D
Hopefully you all gave better luck than me next week. Who else is due to exchange soon?

holmessweetholmes · 29/08/2014 22:02

Yy to the 'it'll be worth it! ' That's what I've been saying to myself a lot lately!

Hello! Congrats to those of you exchanging/ completing.

We still aren't anywhere near having a date. It turns out our vendors solicitors didn't get the vendors responses to our queries. The vendors have been on holiday and I've had to fight the EA to get them to call them on holiday about it. Apparently "we don't like to disturb people on holiday". I did ask them if they actually wanted to sell the two houses that they had in the chain. Eventually they agreed to contact them and the sellers were mortified and have emailed the responses over.

holmessweetholmes · 30/08/2014 13:30

It's a bit odd how they don't like to disturb you on holiday. My EA was very apologetic when she phoned me while I was away. But surely people really want any news about their move, wherever they are? I certainly did!
