Yes, there is a place that does holiday letting close by - it's not cheap mind and of course they wouldn't take the dog and rodents. I'll try not to panic until Tuesday and then I'll ring the local letting agent and see what may be available for a very short term let even if it's a small two bed house and we can put a lot of the stuff into storage. Gulp!

Thank you Terry and Cuddy, good advice.

Cuddy - just a thought but could you try local newsagent windows and/or Gumtree for people who are renting out a property not through an agent. They might take a very short-term let from you just to get some money in while they're looking for a new longer-term tenant?

CuddyMum · 09/05/2013 21:34

The more I think about packing the house, packing for holiday and potentially not knowing if we'll complete in time - the more panicky I'm feeling. I'm just hoping that miraculously the queries will all be answered by tomorrow or Monday.

TerrysNo2 · 09/05/2013 21:41

Cuddy do you have any family or friends you could descend on? My mum doesn't know this yet but she may very well be gatecrashed when our builders are doing work on our new house.

Lucky for her, she loves me, DH and her grandchildren! Grin

CuddyMum · 09/05/2013 21:53

Thankfully family are not close by!

TerrysNo2 · 09/05/2013 21:57

Mine either, but we're still going!

TerrysNo2 · 09/05/2013 22:02

Oh balls, wish us luck for tomorrow. Surveyor is coming at 8.30 and our whole process is dependent upon it, if the structural stability is fine then our buyer will proceed (at least I hope she will stick to her word!). I've no reason to believe its not ok but I can't help but worry about it.

Also getting final yay on the mortgage tomorrow (subject to survey) hopefully as my employer sent the reference back to Nationwide today.

Its going to be a LONG day

CuddyMum · 09/05/2013 22:05

All the best for tomorrow. Give the surveyor lots of coffee and tea! See if you can get any information out of him. At least I'm at work tomorrow so I won't have time to worry about anything :)

Can we have a recap as to what stage/stress everyone is at?

I'm sold to cash buyer who wants me out quick, seller delaying cos their seller delaying :(

ghosteditor · 10/05/2013 08:37

We've had an offer accepted on dream-house and have started with the formal mortgage process and engaged a solicitor.

We had offers on our house but the buyer's buyer dropped out, and now no viewings in two weeks Hmm

CuddyMum · 10/05/2013 09:16

This is the stage we are at:-

Have exchanged on our sale as the agreement was we would be out by 25th May (actually moving out on 23rd).

We are awaiting exchange on the house we are buying and although it's likely(ish) we will exchange in time, it's also very possible that we won't and may need to source some form of accommodation! We are also going abroad on 25th to add to the stress!

OP posts:
CuddyMum · 10/05/2013 09:17

and to add to my stress further I am currently waiting for the AA as my bloomin' car won't start and I'm late for work...

We are at the following stage :
We have accepted an offer on our house, and have had an offer accepted on another house.
Our buyers have had their survey on our house (all good) Smile, we've filled out the information & fixtures/fitting list etc.
Our homebuyers survey on the property we are buying was done on Tuesday, our mortgage survey is being done today (fingers crossed).
Searches etc being done mortgage application progressing. Fingers twiddling / crossed whilst we wait.
Looking to exchange asap, complete at beginning of school holidays.
Sending off school transfer forms today.

Pendulum · 10/05/2013 09:46

Hello, can I join in? If ~I can vent here it might just save me a stomach ulcer!

Our position: we are selling to renters, survey done no probs, contracts issued, all seems ok. Buyer sent me friendly note asking if we can meet for cup of tea. I'm a bit [hmmm] but think she just wants to meet face to face.

On the buying side, not so good- our offer accepted over 3 weeks ago, nothing happened since, found out sellers have been away. Now they are back we need to get mortgage survey and structural done, but don't want to spend a penny until they have appointed solicitors.

We are relocating to the other end of the country, I am starting a new job, I need to transfer my children to new schools but can't do that until we have an address (there is only 1 place available in DD1's year aaaargh), I really don't want to have to find a short term let and I just want things to start moving! Hopefully today will be the day....

Good luck to everyone else. How can this process be so stressful?

TerrysNo2 · 10/05/2013 10:50

our status:

  • unintentionally found an almost perfect house
  • sold ours 2 weeks later and made an offer on the new house
  • 2 weeks later or buyer drops her price by £5k Sad but we agree because we don't want to lose the house
  • on wed our buyer tells us she's dropping out as she is concerned that the house was underpinned
  • we offer to pay for the full structural survey to alleviate her concerns
  • the surveyor is here right now eek!!
  • hopefully getting our mortgage fully approved today and then we will instruct a surveyor for the new house

and breathe Grin

FedupofTurkey · 10/05/2013 11:22

I still feel ours will fall through :(

Need to transfer schools but don't want to do that until we exchange :/

AugustaProdworthy · 10/05/2013 11:24

Can I swear on here?? It seems such a polite thread but here goes... SHIT!
Just got am email from solicitors to say that our buyer still does not have their mortgage offer
and... our sellers' seller needs 6 weeks between exchange and completion. WTF? Why did no one tell us that at the outset?? I can't face more waiting and have no idea what to do.
Can you tell I'm upset?!

Pendulum · 10/05/2013 12:29

Ooh fingers crossed for you Terrysno2! I am very impressed by your initiative in getting your buyer back online.

CuddyMum · 10/05/2013 15:28

Nothing new to add here today other than the removals company are dropping off some boxes etc later. I'll chase the solicitor again on Monday but will have to do that via email as I'll be at work.

Why is this all such hard work?

OP posts:
FedupofTurkey · 10/05/2013 16:01

We got sight of our valuation and it says proposed sports club in the area. I'd heard a whisper of this so asked our sellers when we viewed, the building was unlikely cos its marshland. Anyway I've just had a very interesting chat with the club chairperson and he says it is very likely and it will affect the back of the house which currently has a gorgeous view. And he has spoken to all the houses! So we need to think what we need to do now, there aren't any proper plans as yet

hinkyhonk · 10/05/2013 16:27

Checking in as have been lurking and didn't want to tempt fate but now everything threatening to go belly up I thought i'd have a moan look for some support.

Purchase chugging along but buying an unusual house which is totally identifiable so won't mention much. BUT our sale which was going well has hit a major issue. Their surveyor has mentioned that there is likely a problem with the structure due to drainage based on nothing the fact we have a couple of cracks in our sitting room ceiling and the speculation that we've repainted the outside of our house which we haven't. There is zero evidence for any of this but our buyer is spooked.

Raaaaaaahhhhhhhh and breathe.....

CuddyMum · 10/05/2013 17:32

Oh Turkey - how do you feel about the house now?

Hello Hinkyhonk - it's never plain sailing is it?
