Complete house make-over - help in deciding on colour and lighting schemes needed

House is being completely overhauled. We need to pin down some details in the coming weeks.

1. Colours - it is not a huge house so we want the same colour scheme through out the house. I like lake colours and colour scheme 2 - which one do you like best? I think the first one is warmer perhaps?
   

We have settled on the tiles for hall, kitchen and bathrooms grey tiles bottom right but in 60x60, and wall tiles above for around bath/shower and behind sink. Rest of bathroom white.

Kitchen is white with granite worktops, contemporary style.

Living room white walls with solid oak flooring, still have this sofa but it will be replaced in a year or two.

Help me work out what colour and where to put it. Do I choose one wall in living room / dining room and make that the blue/green wall? And do I repeat that throughout the house?

Oh, and if anyone knows about lighting schemes, we could chat about that too

Good tip - all the walls are being papered and painted anyway so not really a problem.

Such fun. Spent DAYS agonising, comparing colours from several companies, sought expert advice on MN and Twitter.

Finally decided I want F&B Green Blue and Cornforth White and await arrival of husband to do battle.

He comes in. Takes one look, points
at aforementioned Green Blue and says, 'like that one in the middle best'.

He wasn't quite sold on C White till I showed him Spotty's blog. He loved the grey shades there so we are done.

Hurrah. Thanks all.

Now just have to sort out the lighting scheme, tiles, shower and bathroom fittings, kitchen and light switches.

Love it when a plan starts to come together. Have been here since August and have ripped out 2 bedrooms bathroom and kitchen/diner. New heating electrics, doors and windows. Cleaned yesterday and couldn't understand why it was so easy - there were no piles of 'stuff' to move from one rm to another and whole place looked like mine!! I'm sure the rest will be a doddle!! although if you are like me the cheap lighting/tiles/ fittings etc. won't be just 'quite' right and you'll just have to have the dear one or it just won't look good!!!

Slight setback here. The kitchen has come in WELL over budget, and not the quality we would have wanted. ARGH x 3000

MmeLindor - nothing to do with home decorating ideas, but I'm glad I've "met" someone else who is as wimpy as me about scary movies.

Dh still winces at the memory of my nails digging into his hands from when we went to see Jurassic Park.

And I've never seen "Jaws" and never will

Friends at Uni used to refuse to sit next to me in the TV room while we were watching the original series of Star Trek as I would scare them by jumping when even not very scary things happened

I can't want Bond movies either, cause they are too thrilling for me. I get a sore tummy from all the tension.

I did make it all the way through - but with a number of nail digging incidents and a couple of screams in an an otherwise silent cinema

I now check out plots for potentially scary/thriller movies, so that I can decide whether I can go and reduce the fear factor

The Doctor Who episode "Blink" absolutely terrified me. It's amazing how essential it can become to make a cup of tea.

I found out when studying French farce that you're supposed to find things like that funny 'cos you're glad it's not you. I don't - I identify with them and get upset on their behalf (like the Laurel and Hardy piano episode: it's just not fair !! ).

I'll leave the room if I think things are going to get embarassing.

I have to self-censor a lot. Even things like Monty Pythons I can't watch all of.
