Yippee!!

Has only been just over three weeks and we have a buyer, and one thats offered us just a few thousand under asking price.
So please please please do not give up if you are tring to sell right now, or have tried without much luck last year.

There is a real postive feel in housing market right now, if anything there is a massive shortage which will not improve soon, which is great news for those investing in property.

Thought I would share the good news, especially to all the doom and gloom merchants suggesting that I should knock 20% or more off the asking price (:

Really chuffed for you! Our neighbour put their house up for sale last week and its sold already. We are in the West Midlands and I'm seeing lots of sold signs go up. Hope it all goes smoothly!

We have a three bed detached in Cambs/Anglia. All I would say is do not take a lot of the advice I got off here a few weeks ago(who have suddenly gone VERY quite I might add) and reduce the price of your home thinking things are bad out there, it's not.

Good news is that there is a shortage of property and a lot of desperate people fighting for what is coming onto the market.
There were a nasty bunch on here who took great delight in given me quite a fright by saying houses were too expensive and needed to fall in value.

Well it is not doom and gloom as all the indicies now point to house prices rising again which will be a great comfort to most homeowners.

Yes it is awesome news! All those cretins non-homeowners out there who are so desperate for a place to live, due to the lack of housing that you seem to celebrate , that they are willing to hand over their life's wages to the bank so that the savvy investors homeowners can move up the ladder to a property more fitting their superior intellect and social status. May it long continue! I hope you buy a large enough house so that your children can continue to live with you into their 40s.

I'm glad you've accepted an offer Janet, but your narrow and poorly considered view of the housing market beggars belief. I do hope it all goes smoothly though.

I pointed your post towards my brother who's sadly now on his third price drop in the 18 months his place has been up for sale (although still above the price he paid in 2005). He asked if you would mind listing your tips for selling so quickly as he and his wife are getting really down about it. His estate agent is describing the market as depressed and saying there are record low sales volumes, but your post has given him a glint of hope!

It is not on the up and prices are not going up anytime soon. This is BS and I own property and work in property and this is not what is being seen at all.

Is this the same buyer as earlier this week? After 3 attempts to sell. IIRC you were a new poster and accused all the rest of us of being trolls Good luck with this

Well done on getting a buyer but I don't think rising house prices are a great comfort to most homeowners. If you're trying to move to a bigger house, as we are, then rising prices are the last thing you want and if you're not moving then house prices are largely irrelevant.

I had an offer of just 500 quid under asking price after a week - that fell through for whatever reason they changed their mind

then an offer of just under 1k and then they couldn't get a mortgage

then a full asking price offer and then there house sale fell through twice but we stuck with them and sold

Houses that are priced well in this area are selling quickly because there isn't much on the market but the prices they're going for aren't much higher than 2 or 3 years ago.

Personally I think you were lucky. End of. Good luck with your sale. Hope it doesn't fall through. After all, you are not sold until it is legally binding, even then not until the money is in the bank.

Yes, some (few) properties can sell very quickly. I had a few last year but telling everyone it is easy and that the property market is wrong is bollocks.

The UK economy is contracting and the housing market does not flourish in those conditions. Mortgages are the issue lots of people would still over borrow if the banks would allow but lending is tight and surveyors are down valuing quite harshly. The market is on its arse and needs a swift correction to allow average people to buy a family home without bankrupting themselves. It would be interesting to see how this sale goes although as the OPs only other posts have been along these lines I doubt we will

I am pleased for you, and hope it goes through.
But, really, your area of the UK seeing a slight increase does not mean the housing market is anywhere near recovering!!

@wendybird... I am so sorry your life might not be a bed of roses, but all I can do is look after me and MY family. Rather than put a spoiler on my good news, can you at least not be so bitter as to ruin it for me.

@Noddyholder....All I did was post about not being able to sell, it was a couple of mumsnet posters that pointed out that another site that I had never heard of before was using my post to make a point and were spoiling. And as it stands it seems like your advice to me a few weeks ago was way off the mark(reduce price). I think things were bad a little while back, but all I can say is that my area is now quite active.

@Badvoc.... No it has not been a quick sale? .. Looks like things are different this time, or they have been for us.

Cannot believe people are still saying property is expensive, try paying 15% interest rates like we have done in the past, buying property has never been cheap.

You are trying to get a rise out of those who can't afford to pay these ridiculous prices which is what you did before. When you have 'sold' then please post but atm you have an offer and the outcome is in teh hands of the banks and surveyors but well done

Apologies, your post came off as so smug and self-important I reacted. My life is great though. My family and I are well. I am not bitter at all, in fact the opposite. I hope you enjoy your new community when you move and that others around you have a more generous attitude towards others less fortunate than themselves.

I have just sold a house, not conned a load of OAP's out of their life savings.
I am not trying to get "a rise" out of anyone, why would selling a house be considered some sort of evil transaction.

I think you have some issues going on here that probably are a little too heavy for this board, sounds like you have some political "it's not fair" sounding board, try writting to your local MP.

Of course record number of sales are falling through in this fragile market, but fingers firmly crossed for the OP!

I am on a few glasses of rioja. You tried to goad people last time who you considered weren't brave enough to buy and Iirc thought people who hadn't taken the plunge years ago were bitter. I am not bitter you silly person I own property have no mortgages and am an interior designer so rises would be good for me but still I think they are wrong. Why would I write to my MP?

Maybe come back when you have completed?
