What does £350k buy in your area?

That is our current budget. Love the area we are in and we tied down to it for now but sometimes I feel frustrated with the size of our house. Its small.

So just been nosy (and sort of daydreaming where we could move to when we are older and freer) what would £350k get you were you live?

According to rightmove you could get a four bed detached house

House 1

House 2

House 3

Angel, sadly that lovely stone house is all yours, no prospect of relocation for the edams...

These two are both very local to me. [[http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36404497.html This one if you like a property with character.
[[http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-24400800.html This one if you prefer modern or maximum bedrooms for your money.

This was our budget in mids
Under 200k loads of choice
375k and above loads of choice
Inbetween not alot, bun fights over what there is
It's not what I thought it would be- I imagined house hinting with 300k to be a dream, not pouncing on right move daily at 9am

Tanya, that house shrieks potential and could indeed be gorgeous but what's with all the bars on the windows? Those would seriously worry me..

350k would but me a very large 5/6 bedroom house with a fair bit of land overlooking the sea with change to spare, I live in north down.

never mind 350K, look what you can get in Grantham for 259K asking price Shock Shock!

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33258256.html

What is the catch with Grantham if it's only 1hr commute to London? there must be one - no amenities? crime?

btw how do you make a link clickable on here?

In Newbury currently you can get up to five beds! Was surprised myself when I looked.

According to Rightmove, a price of exactly 350k would get a 4 bed detached house on an estate. Currently there are two for sale:

house a: reception hallway plus cloakroom off, lounge, dining room, fitted kitchen and family room, four double bedrooms one with en-suite shower room, in a semi rural area

house b: reception hallway plus cloakroom off, drawing room with dining area, study, sitting room, kitchen, utility room, four bedrooms, bathroom and shower room, large gardens to all sides with a coppice area at the end of the garden (good reason to mention that!!) Right next to the motorway and near a very large council estate. Has a double garage with an apartment over the garage. It says it is in an elevated position, that tells me that it is elevated because the back garden backs right onto the motorway embankment as the only houses in that area that are like that are next to the motorway.

allchangeplease the price of the season ticket if you commute is one factor. Costs over £ 8k a year if you need the tube as well. The town has struggled a bit as have lot of towns but they are trying to prove it.
Crime not really an issue, I have no qualms in walking through the ten on my own late at night.
If you want decent shopping then Nottingham is not that far away.
I find it a really friendly area. And despite the cost if the commute am glad we moved here
The house you linked to us on a pretty busy main road and one that connects to A1 so get a far but of traffic. Not the prettiest of areas.
