What does £350k buy in your area?

That is our current budget. Love the area we are in and we tied down to it for now but sometimes I feel frustrated with the size of our house. Its small.

So just been nosy (and sort of daydreaming where we could move to when we are older and freer) what would £350k get you were you live?

This is Newark, which is 1hr 15m direct to kings cross and has a waitrose. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36607921.html

This is Collingham which is a village about 5 miles from Newark station www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-35323681.html?premiumA=true

This is the village I live in which is about a 20 min drive from Newark, 40 min drive from Nottingham and 5 miles from Lincoln there is this which is not to my taste www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-22603092.html or this which is much better www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-22603092.html but quite small.

Sorry last link should have been www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33691456.html

Mandy21 · 03/01/2013 20:24

We're in South Manchester - you'd get a 3 bed semi for that budget.

AfterEightMintyy · 03/01/2013 20:26

Two bed conversion flat, possibly with garden.

Katz · 03/01/2013 20:26

You can have a soft play centre near me

It would buy you This.

tilder · 03/01/2013 20:28

I definitely live in the wrong part of the country. Interesting that it seems to be common to get a big price jump between 280kish and 500k elsewhere. I thought they just didn't build 400k houses round here.

I did look on rightmove but there was nothing for 350k or anything near.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 03/01/2013 20:29

I could get a high spec 3-bed apartment, or a detached 4 bed farmhouse, or a 3 bed Georgian townhouse like this.

MamaGeekChic · 03/01/2013 20:30

Central Scotland- 5bed detached with a decent garden.

racingheart · 03/01/2013 20:32

Cute two bed Victorian terrace in nice part of town or 3 bed ex council or 3-4 bed semi in nearby less naice area.

MamaGeekChic · 03/01/2013 20:35

this?

some places nicer than others but still some lovely houses in good locations

timidviper · 03/01/2013 20:40

Very variable here depending on the location. You could have this overlooking the golf course, or this if you fancy a bit of a project.

[http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-35210632.html This]] looks amazing until you check the location and see it is sandwiched between an industrial estate and a housing estate of very dubious reputation![

This should have been the last link on my post above!

It's near where I grew up, I'd love to a. move home and b. live in a stone house!

Angelfootprints · 03/01/2013 21:36

Its mine all mine! mwah ha ha!

Seriously what a great house. Perfect mix of character and modern. Loads of natural light too.

Well, If you buy it I will visit. Thats a promise!

Not a lot. This is just round the corner from us. Teeny 3 bed terrace with almost no garden terrace

Or if you want a larger garden you can buy a small, grotty bungalow that needs a lot or work bungalow

digerd · 03/01/2013 21:48

I liked the thatched cottage and loved the gardens of the Old Cottage. All the others were yuck to me. But then I was spoiled by living in Germany in the country.
But there was a place in a village outside Hertford that stole my heart, but was £750.00, and I couldn't afford it - boo hoo!!
And a 3 bed detached bungalow near me, in the best area ( always loved it>, but was £450.000, and still could not afford it.

Angelfootprints · 03/01/2013 21:53

I think it is a bit sad what "only" £350k will get you in some parts of the UK now, especially those connected to (or in )London.

When I think what my parents paid 20 years ago... But thats a whole different thread!
