Browsing local properties I saw this one Check out the rug(s)....and the wallpaper..........and the shoe cupboard and a few other things.

I think it's great! So much better than all those bland magnolia houses you see.

Northernlurker · 29/09/2012 18:52

I couldn't live with the wallpaper but it's so clearly someone's home. It looks like a friendly house. Just amused me. There are other similar properties on the market that are bland and you're right - that house does look more appealing.

Oooh. I likey.

QuintessentialShadows · 29/09/2012 18:55

I love the house.

Perhaps as much as the woman of the house loves her shoes ! Grin

justabigdisco · 29/09/2012 18:57

I think it's brilliant

Northernlurker · 29/09/2012 18:59

What do you do when you want to wear the shoes though? You'd leave a gap.

Wow - I love it! Really stylish. Wish I had as much courage in decorating our house where we have played safe.

nancerama · 29/09/2012 19:00

I envy people who can be minimalist without being neutral. So many individual, stylish pieces. I want to be that bold with my next house.

SuePurblybilt · 29/09/2012 19:04

Very well done, but not entirely my taste. Love the dining room but the kitchen looks oddly unfinished/weirdly put together.
I like the wallpaper. Better that than one nasty red/brown 'feature' wall of triffids, Homebase's finest.

maryquant · 29/09/2012 19:09

Is it Peter Plaskit's house?
Interior designer used to be on a lot of BBC Programmes?
He used to live in York.
I like it.

Wigeon · 29/09/2012 19:11

Also, fantastic location, within the city walls, and within sight of them!

Starshaped · 29/09/2012 19:13

Gorgeous house. The wallpaper downstairs is perhaps a little full on over such a large area but it's still lovely. Proper property porn!

jaffacake2 · 29/09/2012 19:15

Love it Smile what a great place designers have gone a bit OTT but fun. Lovely building

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 29/09/2012 19:20

The downstairs wallpaper is a little busy, but in general I love it! Ive decided that Im fed up with magnolia walls. Im in the process of colouring in my house! Grin

BonnieBumble · 29/09/2012 19:20

What is picture 9 all about?

SuePurblybilt · 29/09/2012 19:23

9 is showing the city wall, isn't it?

Northernlurker · 29/09/2012 19:24

Picture 9 is the view - within the walls. Houses in York often put that kind of thing in. If you can see a sniff of the minster it'll be featured too.

it's not all exactly what I would choose, but I do like that it has a distinctive style and character. Too many bland boxes nowadays.

FiveOrangeFlowers · 29/09/2012 19:30

Absolutely gorgeous. I'd want all the furniture too Envy

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 29/09/2012 19:30

I like.

Although I only have three pairs of shoes so would go with a more traditional bookcase

Northernlurker · 29/09/2012 19:33

Check out the Staircase in this one though.

OP posts:
GirlYouMakeMeTongueTied · 29/09/2012 19:34

I absolutely LOVE it! I wish I had the house, and the guts to decorate it like that. That kitchen is gorgeous.

Northernlurker · 29/09/2012 19:36

I want to see that staircase for real - why don't people have 'open house' viewing more?

OP posts:
SuePurblybilt · 29/09/2012 19:39

Love the second one. Wow to the staircase.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 29/09/2012 19:41
