I feel all nostalgic for Priory Street. Would love to live there, just not in THAT house...

I want to live in York city centre, I want to live in York city centre...

I like the first one a lot, except for the wallpaper downstairs and purple bedroom.

Comparing the two houses, you can really see the impact of design. The first one manages to blend sumptuousness and minimalism. The second one looks cluttered and a mishmash, even though it might have good bones.

I like the kitchen in the first one. It is very clean, and plays off the modern feel with the roof light and big doors. A country kitchen would look twee and a heavy woody one would clash with the lightness of the space. Very well done!

I really don't like the kitchen in the first one. It looks like it would be very annoying to cook in. I love the staircase in the second one. But I'd hate to live with all those stairs.

I also hate the bathroom in the first house. The layout is just awful.

Northernlurker · 01/10/2012 10:33

I think it is a shame in the first house that the big bedroom doesn't have the en-suite bathroom. Looks like the current owners use that floor as a suite though - bedroom, shoe room Grin and bathroom. That's fine if you don't need to use it as a bedroom.

there was a viewing of the Mount, Northern - you missed it! (was on the 22nd, with \link{http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-34459258.html?premiumA=true\Hudson Moody}

The HM listing has some extra photos too.

It is divine Smile

well as it's still for sale, maybe they'll do another - ring them & ask Wink

CunningPlan · 01/10/2012 12:46

Northern I'll tell him Grin

He was a student in York for a year in 2000-2001 and a lot of his friends got flooded. He'll be ever so relieved Wink

I would think the kitchen is very ergonomical to cook in. There seems to be plenty of space between the sink and the hob to prepare. Plus there are loads of drawers underneath for pots, pans, spices, oils etc.

There is also the wall with the oven plus a separate pantry and utility room.

I don't get the sofa in there, though

BobbiFleckman · 01/10/2012 14:39

the York house is like the result of a trolley dash through a Designer's Guild showroom. 2 papers and a couple of fabrics at least ;-)

reluctanttownie · 01/10/2012 16:04

I probably wouldn't be able to live with a lot of it, and I really don't like the kitchen... but with a bit of repainting.... DROOOOOOOL!!!!

I live in London and a house that size, with those gorgeous proportions and period features and that utterly utterly stunning from the outside would cost MILLIONS!!! We live in a tiny poky boring verging-on-ugly little terrace, but we could (just about) afford this!!!!

Envy Envy Envy

Seriously considering asking DH what he thinks about moving to York....

WANT!!!!!

Northernlurker · 01/10/2012 17:56

Reluctant - the Priory street house is about 5 minutes walk from the station too - he could commute!

Not much I would change about that house, except the price (so I can afford it)
