7+ exams 2024

Anyone else prepping for the 7+ this year? We are trying to work out how many schools to do exams for. Live in SW London and thinking about SPJS, KCS, WUS and Latymer. Seems like a lot for a 6yo but my understanding is it's best to do a few as their performance on the day May really vary at that age.
What resources are everyone using?

Congratulations to all who made it to stage 2 and also to all for getting to firm/waitlist seats in WUS and KCJS. Hats off !!
Would be very helpful to share the prep work done to get this far!

@Pbhar - a thread was created for this purpose "private exams - lessons learnt". But it hasn't gained much traction yet

Does anyone know how much time the boys have for the creative writing please?

25mins

Good Luck to all the boys who are doing City today and Highgate next week.

Nightlite888 · 01/12/2023 15:24

For SPS - 95 boys invited back for interview /further assessment and 54 places available at 7+. Please correct me if this is inaccurate.

Thought it was roughly 110, 2 boys for every place, unless this year only 95 reached the required standard? 54 places is correct.

Did anyone go on the tour of King’s today for the offer holders? I wonder if they mentioned how long the reserve list was.

SWlondonmum123 · 01/12/2023 16:37

Headteacher at the interviews said 350 boys sat the exam and they accepted just under 100 for the second stage. So I’m assuming that means between 95-100 boys

Nightlite888 · 01/12/2023 16:49

I was told earlier in the week by SPS that 95 boys were invited back? Might have misunderstood though

SWlondonmum123 · 01/12/2023 17:28

That’s basically what we were told too, just under 100 so 95 sounds about right.

Caps0218 · 01/12/2023 19:21

Lower number than previous years….tells me that they also have a minimum level, as opposed to taking simply 2 boys for every place ( 108).
obviously as many have posted, trickier test than in previous years.

I don’t think they did. Is your DS on the reserve list?

I was told 95 got invited back for 50 places.

Nightlite888 · 01/12/2023 19:52

Yes I thought there were 50 places but the website + other parents stated it was 54?

Current year 3 has less than 54 kids…

Moonface67 · 02/12/2023 05:56

@Tipsyandtom123 yes we are on the reserve list

Good luck. Is KCJS your first choice? I doubt you’ll hear back before the deadline. It’s going to be a long wait.

Moonface67 · 02/12/2023 08:03

@Tipsyandtom123 thank you and yes it is our first choice, what’s yours?

We are not sure yet, waiting for SPJ result then decide.

SWlondonmum123 · 02/12/2023 22:02

Am I correct in thinking that SPJ could give out results anyday between the 4th - 6th or most likely on the 6th?

Nightlite888 · 02/12/2023 23:18

We have been told ‘on or before 6 December’ so guess you are correct.

Tipsyandtom123 · 03/12/2023 07:34

I was told “by mid next week” at the parent interview.

ash90603 · 03/12/2023 13:02

Yeah same .. mid next week x

Justanothermom333 · 05/12/2023 16:15
