7+ exams 2024

Anyone else prepping for the 7+ this year? We are trying to work out how many schools to do exams for. Live in SW London and thinking about SPJS, KCS, WUS and Latymer. Seems like a lot for a 6yo but my understanding is it's best to do a few as their performance on the day May really vary at that age.
What resources are everyone using?

@Justanothermom333 feel free to pm if you have any questions on SPJ. Our son started there in 2022 after 7+. We are in Fulham and probably part of the more local. There are a huge variety of buses coaches cars that dropped boys from all over London. A lot actually drop them on the other side of the bridge and boys walk after that as there is a school gate right at the end of the bridge. I agree that when they are little commute is very important. They do grow up very quickly though!

Thanks.

Caps0218 · 10/12/2023 12:11

@Justanothermom333 I did the commute back in the late 80s early 90s to SPS from NW London, there was one north London school bus (would also have the girls on it too), back then it took roughly 30 mins….now due to traffic and bridge it’s probably nearer 50m.

Even if you have a Highgate, UCS offer which is a lot closer…..I personally wouldn’t give it up, my son will be trying next year.

Moonface67 · 10/12/2023 12:40

@Justanothermom333 I remember we had two boys on St Paul’s tour from Wembley who come to school together and we were surprised how they said the commute was absolutely fine and the school was worth it. We decided against it because of where we live but plenty of people do it.

Congratulations! Re interview, current school said they would prep him a bit but we're in South and they are not such a type as London Pre-prep. So, I feel clueless too.

Justanothermom333 · 10/12/2023 13:24

i know there are children commute from my side of the town but for 7 yrs, that’s a huge toll

Hi All

I would appreciate some guidance on how to prepare DS for group activities and interviews. We have round 2 with City in January. Any ideas, pls x

Also, any suggestions for Creative Writing workshops? I know promoting anyone here isn't allowed, happy to PM you if you have any ideas xx

Thank you in advance

AnotherLondonMama · 15/12/2023 17:44

Would anyone know how many children approximately get invited to the second round at Highgate? Is it the majority? Their site says a ‘significant’ portion, but wonder if this is half, a third etc.

Caps0218 · 15/12/2023 18:48

@AnotherLondonMama most schools take 2 children for every place….so I assume 120?

We attended a workshop to prepare interview for King's. Following that I was provided a comprehensive parent guide about how to prepare for the interview at home. It was very helpful for the King's interview. PM me, I can share their details.

UCS exam was yesterday. Does anyone know when we will know the results, is it on the 26th Jan or earlier?

LoveBlueCheese · 05/01/2024 14:20

Anyone with DDs sitting for JAGS?

london2314 · 05/01/2024 14:42

I wanted to get a perspective. Do you think group classes worked for your kids prep for 7+? And are online classes okay?

We just sat 7+ but I am thinking of options for 8+ in case we don't get good news from City and Latymer....
