Swearing in year 3 reading book

My 7 year old in year 3 came home today with a new book for reading at home he opened the book and handed it to me. The first line of the book opens with swearing. Do you think this is appropriate?

What’s the book and what’s the line?

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 04/11/2020 17:59

What exactly did it say?

WellyBootsAreYouFrom · 04/11/2020 18:00

What's the swear word?

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 04/11/2020 18:00

What book and what swearing?

Findahouse21 · 04/11/2020 18:00

Depends what the word is - my swearing is not necessarily yours. Hell is fine, cunt less so

Iggly · 04/11/2020 18:01

What did it actually say.

DownThePlath · 04/11/2020 18:02

Go on .... what is it?

Diverseduvet · 04/11/2020 18:02

??? Need more info before I can even begin to believe this! Screenshot please!

Diverseduvet · 04/11/2020 18:03

Michaelbaubles · 04/11/2020 18:03

Let me guess: “The sweat wis lashing oafay Sick Boy; he wis trembling. Ah wis jist sitting thair, focusing oan the telly, tryin no tae notice the cunt. He wis bringing me doon.”

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/11/2020 18:03

Come on then, what's the word?

Rover83 · 04/11/2020 18:04

What was the word?

Sooverthemill · 04/11/2020 18:04

I cannot believe that a school reading book has a swear word in it. You have to take a proof the page. If it does, send it back with a note saying it's not appropriate for your child

Ignoringequally · 04/11/2020 18:04

Depends on the word. Cunt = inappropriate. Arse = fine.

FuckedyFuck · 04/11/2020 18:05

I call stealth boast and you’re getting ready to tell us although he’s in year 3 he has a reading age of 65 and the book reflected that.

MissFitton · 04/11/2020 18:05

Dammit @Michaelbaubles beat me to it! Grin

SocialBees · 04/11/2020 18:05

Arse would not be fine IMO!!

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 04/11/2020 18:07

There's a y3 guided reading book about Dick Whittington.Grin

LittleMissLockdown · 04/11/2020 18:07

Well I'd hazard a guess that its nothing too terrible or you'd have included the actual text and the name of the book in your opening post. Hmm

Ignoringequally · 04/11/2020 18:08

@SocialBees

Arse would not be fine IMO!!
Arse would be fine for me 🤷🏻‍♀️
buenavistabelle · 04/11/2020 18:08

Here for the reveal

WorksTheDinerAllDay · 04/11/2020 18:09

We're waiting OP!

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 04/11/2020 18:10

When DS2 was a bit younger than that he refused to read or watch anything that said "oh my God" because he considered it swearing.

Whats the word in the book?

WildCherryBlossom · 04/11/2020 18:11

@Michaelbaubles 👍😁

Diverseduvet · 04/11/2020 18:11
