3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2018

mumteacher · 30/10/2017 00:38

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas👏🏼

(Roll on 2018!) 😉

Hi has anyone here say Leh 7+ this year? My daughter is on the waiting list so just trying to figure if any spaces will be coming available?

Amarasmummy · 30/01/2018 09:55

Good luck mums!!! Awaiting nlcs!

Amarasmummy · 30/01/2018 09:56

Any summer born girls awaiting 4+ nlcs? Mine is June born

Sanya83 · 30/01/2018 10:05

Hi all,

A bit late to the party but DD has just been offered a place at Channing. We didn’t apply to many as she’s quite shy and can become upset in new environments. Am not sure if Channing has a holistic approach or it’s a high pressure academic school? She’s well settled at her current school.. any info on would be highly appreciated!

mumsy111 · 30/01/2018 10:15

My DD got offered habs!!! I am so relieved. Anyone else heard back from habs? Good luck

Momof3toB · 30/01/2018 10:20

@Sanya83 congrats!!!! Very nurturing but the results seem to be excellent.

We are still holding out for NLCS... but so glad we have a back up

schooltime · 30/01/2018 10:23

congrats mymsy11 - Did Habs sent letters in post or email too ?

HoverParent · 30/01/2018 10:47

Highgate 7+ is delivered. We're in! Dream come true (but baptism of fire as well!)

For anyone looking to go down this path, start prepping a year in advance, not just once a week, but every day. Bond books especially 7-8, and Exam Papers Plus. And lots of reading and writing, every day.

4plus · 30/01/2018 11:24

It’s only a reserve list for us at Habs... soooo... what are our chances? Anyone ever got to Habs from WL? Should I email them and say we have so many offers but absolutely want Habs?

Stareyed · 30/01/2018 11:28

@4plus there will be movement as some girls will have several different offers. But call and express continued interest. Good luck.

Momof3toB · 30/01/2018 11:41

Post man still not here..

pigshavecurlytails · 30/01/2018 11:41

@Sanya83 channing isn't pushy, it's one of the less academic of the selective schools. she'll be fine.

4plus · 30/01/2018 12:02

Thank you Stareyed. We’ll need some luck.

Momof3toB · 30/01/2018 12:08

I wouldn't say less academic... there GSCE results are 5% lower than Habs and nlcs!
From what I hear it's very nurturing

I might be being defensive but I loved Channing. Just a different style of school.

user1457993939 · 30/01/2018 12:10

@Amarasmummy
We are awaiting NLCS, I am on the way to home from office, hopefully should know in a hours time 😊

WetWipeofWonder · 30/01/2018 12:11

@HoverParent was your DC at a state primary or Pre-Prep? And well done!

user1457993939 · 30/01/2018 12:12

@Momof3toB
Have you heard from NLCS yet?

Momof3toB · 30/01/2018 12:25

No... no post yet!!! I am stopping myself from calling the school

mumsy111 · 30/01/2018 12:28

Yes schooltime! A letter in the morning. Keeping fingers crossed.

4plus - You should definitely call and let them know it is your 1st choice.

pk4317 · 30/01/2018 12:32

Absolutely thrilled DD got NLCS - we were doubtful as she is summer born but she is delighted as she calls this ‘chocolate button school’...

We are in a dilemma as we also have St Albans which I really loved also and is only 15 mins away from us as we are in St Albans itself...

NLCS is a bit of a trek for us... logistically might be a nightmare.. anyone in a similar position? Anyone used the coach at such a young age...?

Good Luck to Everyone xxx
