3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2018

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas👏🏼

(Roll on 2018!) 😉

Yes JBug, number games too, I suppose. I was just thinking that for SHHS it might be not just about academic side...
Not that it changes anything now but would be interesting to understand the schools better :)

Just realised I did a typo - second round assessment is what I meant.
No interview is mentioned in the email. Silly me 😢 sorry for the confusion ladies

4plus · 16/01/2018 16:46

LOL we started assessments in November and had quite a few and it’s all blurred for me now user14 :)
Really can’t wait for it to be over.

My DD did this two years ago and it was definitely light activity (skipping, hopping, movement). She wore trainers/pumps but doesn’t matter what they wear with them as long as they are comfortable. Good luck.

Yes she did get a place. They split it with first 20 mins or so group physical activity/games and then they took them of one by one with different teachers/staff to do a one to one for roughly 20 mins then brought them back to us. The one to one was more of what they went through in first round I think but a bit more focussed and obviously one on one.

Did anyone go for St. Helens 2nd round for 4+
How was it?

Lotrmummy · 16/01/2018 21:11

Did anyone have DD who went for St Chris assessment? Any ideas on what to expect?

Pendleburymum · 16/01/2018 21:12

Hi Matupatlu - after all that we actually accepted another school mainly for logistical reasons! She has a summer birthday. We have friends there though that are enjoying it.

Sunlight01 · 16/01/2018 21:34

Congratulations @Momof3toB and also for getting selected for round 2 in NLCS Any one doing 7+ at NlCS. DD is suffering from cough, cold and fever. And assessment is on Thursday. What should I do? Can I ask them to reschedule? Or shall I take a chance. I am afraid that her coughing would disturb other girls. Any suggestions.

Thank you for all the well wishes from everyone.
We have NLCS tomorrow which is our last one.
Then it's a nervous waiting game

Lotrmummy · 17/01/2018 08:24

Thanks so much @shodo for your reply. Did your DD enjoy it? I like the school very much and am really hoping my DD is a right fit for it. Did you manage to meet the new head?

Hi every one. i am new to mums net and would be grateful if anyone can assist with what to expect for Habs 4+ second round round.

What kind of meeting will it be, what questions will they be asking to parents? will the child be asked questions? does 2nd round include any activities?

I couldn't find any info on this.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Matupatlu my DD went for her round 2 at NLCS this time last year, dressed in jeans and t shirt and sneakers, basically they want the girls to be comfortable and move around easily.

All the best !!

Momof3toB · 17/01/2018 13:32

@Matupatlu sorry for the delay, nursery uniform which is a tshirt, joggers and jumpers. With trainers.

If I negotiate on clothes we will be at the NLCS dressed as Elsa from frozen.

Anyone sit their kid for the Highgate 3+? Our son did that today. So nervous and have to wait about 2 weeks for the result. How did you find it?

Hi newmummycwharf1. We attended the 3+ assessment at Highgate. Not too sure what to expect as there were many different little characters at our session! :) How did you find it?

shopgal9 · 17/01/2018 19:00

Hi Matupatlu they did some activity which was similar to the first round, I think they asked her some questions too, basic stuff name, age, what she likes doing etc....
