In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas👏🏼

I’m just wondering now what SHHS actually looks for... We got through to 2nd rounds at Habs and NLCS, much more selective schools, but were rejected by SHHS straight away... All looks rather strange to me. Confused

While everyone is discussing about Habs, NLCS, SH etc and awaiting results..I wanted to know if anyone has applied for Northwood College and if anyone has more information regarding this school knowing that now it is a part of GDST.Any comments/suggestions will be appreciated.

Any idea what to expect for 4+ SH round2?
Do they interview parents?

Most of St Helens places are taken at 3+ and there are very few 'real' places at 4+ ( those that they have are earmarked for siblings.
They don't interview parents at 3+ but I'm not sure about 4+.

We heard from NLCS 4+ yesterday for the second round and interview on the Thursday the 18th, Does anyone know what kind of interview will it be, what questions will they be asking? I didn’t find info on this, so any pointers will be a great help.

Has anyone been for Habs girls 2nd round here? Any idea of the kinds of questions they ask the parents ? Specifics would be welcome. We missed the open day and I’m concerned they’ll ask us about specific elements of the school we don’t know about

4plus -
NLCS always calls back (and offers) more than SHHS at 4+. SHHS only has 20-24 places (one form) whereas NLCS has two.
