3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2018

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas👏🏼

(Roll on 2018!) 😉

Pollu85x what schools is your DC sitting for. We had one for 3+ and there was one teacher to child ratio too. I dont know much about what went on onside as DC is not telling

Fitnessfanatic108 · 12/01/2018 20:34

@matupatlu they say they don’t have a strict limit on the number of girls they call back, they see as many as they want to see ... but this normally falls at around 100

Is it true 400 girls sat NlCS this year?

Momof3toB · 13/01/2018 08:15

No just short of 300 applications at NLCS according to Mrs Wallace in admissions

For Habs round 2 there’s more focus on parent ‘interview’ than assessing the child again.
There maybe bits and pieces to keep your daughter entertained but if you have something (toys/books) small that you know will keep her occupied take it with you in your handbag.

Last year I had a student who’s assessment was too close to lunch time and the mum took some strawberries with her 👏🏼

Really depends on your child. There will be something in the room for them to be entertained by. Obviously musical toys are a no no.

I assumed it was just the group colours? Like mine was called in as all the girls with the particular colour dots? I'm assuming it's because they had overlapping times so there were other kids coming and going at the same time? No idea that would be my guess

oxo123 · 14/01/2018 22:46

Also does everyone hear tomorrow or only people that get round 2? Any idea for times, I know I'm going to drive myself mad checking emails!

Little announcement - We had our baby on Saturday night! Two weeks early!
I was hoping we would be through the assessments but mother nature had other plans. I will be at the Channing second round this morning - no rest for the wicked.

Nlcs told us Tuesday, or did I get that wrong?

oxo123 · 15/01/2018 09:19

Congratulations!!
Oh I'm sure they told us Monday but maybe I got it wrong

Mamabear1719 · 15/01/2018 09:39

Congratulations @Momof3toB and well done on pushing through the assessments. all the best to everyone this week x

Pianomum84 · 15/01/2018 10:18

Hi Mners

Congrats to all those that got to 2nd round in Habs. We didn't and I was hugely disappointed as really liked the school.

Anyways we have got through to 2nd round for St Helens. Has anyone completed this yet and any tips on what comes up? The email mentions that the parent have a chance to speak to the senior leadership. Is this code for "we are actually interviewing you!"?

Many thanks and good luck for the rest of assessments

Just did the Glendower assessment. DD seemed to enjoyed it. Said there was colouring.

Hoping that when the selective schools start offering places the non-selective we really want will then have an opening.

lovemybabies2much · 15/01/2018 13:58

Congratulations @Momof3toB. We were at Channing this morning as well. Did your DD tell you what they did? Mine just said that they played a rhyming game, did some drawing and colouring.

Good luck with all the 2nd rounds everyone. Keeping fingers crossed now.
