Joined it recently, but might have to leave - so depressed at the level of incompetence! This weekend I've seen threads from a teacher of 30+ years who says that phonics is to blame for all her non-readers in Y2, a teacher who wants to know how to collect evidence in Y2 for explaining writers' use of figurative language (don't bother - you're reading the Y6 interim framework, love Wink) and a teacher who wants advice on dealing with 'figgity' children. And loads if threads asking to be spoonfed to plan EVERYTHING down to the last detail. Or threads that say 'do we have to teach such and such? Where can I find out? Thanks in advance.' READ THE BLOODY CURRICULUM!

And breathe.

I'm holding you personally responsible for my raised blood pressures! Wink

I don't think mrz and feenie have any phonics problems Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/12/2016 22:49

Maybe it's the answer to the phonics problems they don't know they have.

maizieD · 20/12/2016 23:02

You're a genius, Rafa. Of course, that's it Grinx2

RandomDent · 21/12/2016 19:29

Oh if only I'd put my job application in a brightly coloured folder, then I would have definitely got an interview. Hmm

HopeClearwater · 22/12/2016 23:04

If someone sent me a job application in an envelope full of glitter I'd stick it straight in the bin. With some choice words. We teach children - we don't have to behave as if our colleagues are children.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/12/2016 07:33

It should also be typed in comic sans just to make sure they know you are a primary teacher.

mrz · 23/12/2016 08:16

Please tell me that the glitter is a joke!

RandomDent · 23/12/2016 09:30

Our job applications are done online. No room for colour fonts or glitter there!

colonelgoldfish · 27/12/2016 19:09

Please tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't constantly think about work during the holidays?

On the group at the moment it's a constant sea of 'so and so bought me this, it could be used as an x, y, z in the classroom' or 'saving this wrapping paper for repeating pattern work'. Considering hiding the group until I go back to work.

mrz · 27/12/2016 20:04

"Popped into school today ... what! It's Christmas!

RandomDent · 28/12/2016 14:04

I think there might be a competition for who can come up with the most creative way of asking for someone else's planning. Shock. At least I hope so.

IlsaLund · 31/12/2016 22:50

There's an excellent competitive marking thread at the moment.

One poster has announced she's taking her books to hospital to mark while she visits her mum tomorrow - she has just been trumped by the person who has posted that she took her marking in and did it while she was siting in bed waiting for her general anaesthetic.

Feenie · 31/12/2016 22:52

Good God - competitive martyrdom, I can't bear it!

Happy New Year, untwinklers! Wine

I can't find that one!

WatchfulOwl · 14/01/2017 11:52

Did anyone read the post last night from a TA with a CP concern about a child in her class?

It was relating to possible drug use in the home and was full of speculation about the parents, details of what was seen on a home visit (Shock) and criticism of the school's CP lead for not doing enough!

Truly shocking.

What is wrong with these people? You're posting under your real name, on an open public forum for goodness sake.

Feenie · 14/01/2017 12:11

Did Twinkl have the sense to pull it - can't see that one.

Has anyone seen the ICT with Mr P video of ORT The Play that's doing the rounds? It's quite funny but I want to know why his dd isn't being given decodable books.

I've had to hide it.
