Is it too soon for a September 2017 reception support thread?

Anybody about to embark on school applications and want to chat? I don't know about anyone else but I think I'll need a place to get advice / support over the next year!

DS will be 4 in January and I think will be very ready for school come September. Our catchment school is single form entry and very over-subscribed but we live quite close so fingers crossed we'll get in!

First school tours next week, quite looking forward to it!

5pm! I'll be a gibbering mess by then!

Loraline · 17/04/2017 11:08

Ah just seen that quote is for the pan-London admissions so will apply to all boroughs I assume

Whatsitgoingtobe · 17/04/2017 13:35

I'm Herts too and can't believe the time is finally here. First two choices are massively over subscribed and though we live very close there are a record number of siblings this year and lots of people moving into the area. Just don't know which way it will swing 😬 So nervous! Wish I knew what time, all it says is afternoon! Going to be on my phone all afternoon!!

Jackiebrambles · 17/04/2017 15:10

Can I join? Starting to feel a bit panicky about this now... we are zone 3 London so find out tomorrow.....I've already got butterflies!

sarahj198 · 17/04/2017 17:48

No idea what time here in nottinghamshire, but it's definitely 18th might have to stay up til midnight x Smile

I've already got my email but wondering if they get sent at "non-working" times eg bh or after 5 so that angry parents have time to calm down before ringing the council in a foul mood.

Hope everyone gets their first choices and not in this scenario tho!

HonorBright · 17/04/2017 18:53

Solihull allocations are now live on the council's parent portal if there are any other Silhillians on this thread! We have our first preference and are delighted.

blamethecat · 17/04/2017 19:20

Warwickshire's portal still just shows the 'applications closed message and won't let you log in.

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/04/2017 19:34

I'm sick with nerves it says 18th so I'm staying up and hoping it comes through at midnight. We specifically moved house in Nov to get dd into this school but it's very popular just being in catchment doesn't mean we will get a place- fingers toes and everything crossed!! Good luck everyone

HelenaJustina · 17/04/2017 19:38

Buckinghamshire says emails will be sent from 11am and may take up to half an hour. But think I can log in to the portal a lot earlier than that... Am applying for DC4 to go to same faith school that other 3DC are at (we are practising members of that faith) and I'm surprised at how nervous/excited I am!

HelenaJustina · 17/04/2017 19:43

Feck, just checked and it says I can log in and respond to the offer from 2pm so maybe that's not a short cut! Will be checking early doors just in case, good luck everyone still waiting!

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/04/2017 19:47

You need to respond to the offer? I thought if you got your first choice that was that? Sorry if I'm being dim would I need to do anything to confirm that I want the choice they've given me

HonorBright · 17/04/2017 19:48

wishful yes, you have to respond to confirm that you want the place.

GraceGrape · 17/04/2017 19:50

Different LAs have different rules about whether or not you need to confirm a place. It isn't necessary where I live (Essex).

tinypop4 · 17/04/2017 19:56

Is anyone else in Brighton&Hove? Can't find any details on what time they will send the email. Super nervous now, especially due to a very anxious WhatsApp group chat for dds nursery class!

HelenaJustina · 17/04/2017 20:22

Check on your LA website, Bucks def want you to confirm or reject an offer. Sometimes round here for example parents apply to private and then to state as a backup and by confirming you don't want a place, secondary offers can be improved for some families

LotisBlue · 17/04/2017 20:39

Aargh we find out tomorrow, I don't know what time and I can't remember my login!

vfoster · 17/04/2017 20:45

Anyone know what time Cheshire offers will be on tomorrow?

meditrina · 17/04/2017 21:28

"I've already got my email but wondering if they get sent at "non-working" times eg bh or after 5 so that angry parents have time to calm down before ringing the council in a foul mood."

I'm pretty sure that is part of the reasoning! The other part being that it's a massive job, so they want to do it when the systems are quiet.

Even if you are that angry parent BTW - do not reject an offer even if you hate the school

Post on MN instead, and get some advice on the options before you decide what to do.

HalfCarrot · 17/04/2017 21:35

London people by the portal do you mean eapplications website?

BaxterStockboy · 17/04/2017 21:39

Yes half the eadmissions site says we can view the result of our application there so I plan on logging in around 5 tomorrow (and probably every hour before the too!).

Getting very nervous now. Good luck everyone!

AddALemon · 17/04/2017 21:47

@vfoster... I think its just after midnight tonight, thats if your in same part of Cheshire as me!
