Is it too soon for a September 2017 reception support thread?

Anybody about to embark on school applications and want to chat? I don't know about anyone else but I think I'll need a place to get advice / support over the next year!

DS will be 4 in January and I think will be very ready for school come September. Our catchment school is single form entry and very over-subscribed but we live quite close so fingers crossed we'll get in!

First school tours next week, quite looking forward to it!

Have to wait until Tuesday here too, it's going to be a loooong couple of days!
Congrats to those who have got their first preferences and good luck to all those nervously waiting for Tuesday.

tinypop4 · 16/04/2017 13:21

Great news cactus you can relax and enjoy Easter now!

Seems little point in a 'national offers day' if they're not all coming on the same day ! Nervously waiting till Tuesday. I am happy with DDs second choice school, but it is not very conveniently located and will topple over my carefully thought out childcare plans as well as separating her from some friends from preschool.

Why don't I live somewhere where the council has already given out the allocations dammit haha x I have to wait til Tuesday too x happy to see people getting what they want x congrats x

Blankscreen · 16/04/2017 20:36

We find out on Tuesday and i've literally never willed a long weekend to pass by as much as this one!!!

stresshead84 · 16/04/2017 21:02

Another one wishing the weekend away here, even though I really don't want to go back to work on Tuesday.

Don't think we'll get our first choice, but I'll be happy with our second or third. Our fourth would be a nightmare logistically, but I'd be happy with the school as such. So the waiting continues...

Feels unfair that National Allocation Day is not actually national. Surely they should have just changed the date? Or would that have been to sensible/obvious/straightforward?!

But pleased for those who have got what they wanted and know already nonetheless.

blamethecat · 16/04/2017 21:33

Argh I can't think what my password is ! Not sure if the email will tell me the school ds gets into or if I need to log in to the council page. We will probably be at the hospital when the post comes.

PlummyBrummy · 16/04/2017 21:36

Hello ladies, nervously awaiting late afternoon on Tuesday here too...
Really really want the first preference but heavily suspect we'll get the second - which is a great school. I know I shouldn't whinge about the choice between two great schools but one just pips the other to the post.
I suspect it'll all be academic (haha) in the end because my DD will be going where she's going but it hasn't stopped me being phenomenally stressed this weekend (and the weekends/weeks/months preceding...
Any tips for getting a big old grip on your big girl pants and getting over the disappointment?!

Girlincognito1 · 16/04/2017 21:46

My offers day is tomorrow for primary which is weird because it's bank holiday. But it clearly states it on the council's website. I can't log in so will it tell me on the email???

Fooshufflewickbannanapants · 16/04/2017 22:52

My offer day is tomorrow as well! Have logged in to check and clearly says 17th. My dh cousins kids got there confirmation today but both sure if that's because they're religious or because a different county.....do I wait until midnight to check or go to bed now!?

Gaggleofgirls · 17/04/2017 00:29

We've got our first choice but have actually changed our minds since applying! Anyone else done the same 😬 Now concerned 2nd may be full!!

Girlincognito1 · 17/04/2017 00:33

I got up and don't have a password so will have to wait for an email at some point today.

ginforall · 17/04/2017 06:46

Really pleased for people getting their first choice and a little jealous that you already know.

Tomorrow here for us, no idea on the time. I've been able to log in to the council website so will do that in the morning if I don't have an email.

As it gets closer I'm frantically googling and trying to work out our chances. Appears that last year we would have just got in to our first choice and easily into our second (though that one is further away so not sure how much I trust the info).

We'd be happy with any of the top 3, the 4th is our catchment school and hasn't been oversubscribed in the last few years and is by far my least favourite.

Today is the last day of my Easter holiday (I'm a teacher) so going to try and enjoy it and not wish it away or spend it worrying...

sarahj198 · 17/04/2017 07:51

I've been wishing the weekend away too mainly cos of school offers but also cos have been on nights and just finished my last one x haha x

Frazzled2207 · 17/04/2017 07:55

Ours went onto the website at midnight so those that can log on know, no sign of any email yet tho.
We got first choice and so relieved.

Loraline · 17/04/2017 10:13

We're waiting until Tuesday evening. So nail biting. No guarantees at all (central London)

Cornwall73 · 17/04/2017 10:25

London here too so we get to know tomorrow. Does anyone know the time for London announcements?

Alex83 · 17/04/2017 10:34

We're just outside London in a very over subscribed area too so another nail biting wait here. I'm not sure what time it all happens tomorrow but I'll be keeping a close eye on my emails all day- eek!!

stresshead84 · 17/04/2017 10:37

We're in Herts, we were told email will be sent in the afternoon, but nothing more specific, other than it may then take a few hours to arrive in your inbox. Lots of people were waiting for hours and hours last year. But I believe they will be available on their website if you log in once the emails have been sent.

Cornwall73 · 17/04/2017 10:38

I'll be useless at work tomorrow, glued to my phone. Not only are we waiting on the admission decision but we are also asking for our mid August born twins to be delayed a whole year to enter reception in September 2018. Tomorrow we will know about the school and then we need to start the process with them for them to agree to the delayed entry. If all agreed next year we apply for schools again!

Alex83 · 17/04/2017 10:45

I'll be useless at work tomorrow too, I'll be glued to my phone checking emails every 2 seconds!

My local authority login page for admissions has been down yesterday and today, it just shows an error message...anyone else got this?

SmileAndNod · 17/04/2017 10:58

Waiting nervously for tomorrow for decision on Dc3 place. Hoping she gets the same school as DC 1&2 already attend. We moved out of catchment last year so fingers crossed. It will be a bloody nightmare trying to do school runs and be in two places at the same time otherwise Shock

Loraline · 17/04/2017 10:59

Mine (Westminster) just says

During the evening of 18th April you will be sent an email with the outcome of your application. We will also send you a detailed outcome notification letter by first class post on 18th April

That said our 1st choice is in Kensington and Chelsea so if they had catchment maps up earlier we'd have a clue

meditrina · 17/04/2017 11:06

There's a pan-London system for all boroughs and Surrey. They usually start sending out emails at 5pm on the nominated day, but it really does take hours for them all to be sent (which is why they just say 'evening'). You can normally log on to the system after 5pm and view your offer on line.
