Starting this thread for those sitting the 7+/8+ for these schools. Have found last few years' threads useful in understanding the process as a newbie; and now that it is our turn, thought we can exchange notes or have an idea of when the dreaded letters/emails arrive!

All the best for this week and the next.

How many boys would be called back for interview? the interview are on 4 days...would it mean 20 boys each day? Do I understand it correctly - boys are called in alphabetical order and the boys who would be on Tuesday have already been notifies, the rest of boy would be notified by a letter on Monday?

DadAmongMums · 16/01/2016 07:29

That's what they said, computer1000. Though I really don't understand what's the point of rushing with the grading and starting interviewing so soon.

firsttimer08 · 16/01/2016 08:17

Yes my understanding is the same - letters to be posted today, those to be interviewed on Tuesday should have been called yesterday.

Good luck for this morning. When does WUS inform of the interviews?

Mine sits Latymer today

SuperWorried · 16/01/2016 10:25

V long queue at WUS this morning outside school at registration. In comparison, CC had a much cosier feel with big hall and waiting area with warm tea and coffe yesterday. Had to tell DS that this is indeed a school we are going to as he struggled to link the building on the street with his idea of "school".

HopefulButNotConfident · 16/01/2016 12:15

computer1000, mine is there too. Can't wait to hear what he's got to say, although he's notoriously close-lipped so it's likely to be minimal. Our surname is close to the end of the alphabet, so in terms of hearing from CC about interviews, I wouldn't expect to have been notified already. I am therefore maintaining my deluded hopeful mindset for another couple of days.

SuperWorried, we had similar feelings when we went to look at WUS, so we decided not to sit DS for it. Interesting to hear that the impression is borne out somewhat.

Just off to cut my nails so I'm not tempted to bite them to the quick over the next few days.

Mominatrix · 16/01/2016 14:30

Dad, they need to interview 7+ next week because the week after is dedicated to 8+ interviews. Then comes the decision making process.

DadAmongMums · 16/01/2016 14:35

Colet still calling this afternoon with Tuesday invitations. Wish patience to anyone affected.

SuperWorried · 16/01/2016 14:49

For WUS 7+, DS finds maths easy while others a bit harder than CC. He enjoyed the morning, though still prefers CC a bit more. Out of our/his hands as to the results so all we can do now is biting the neils -- not much left on the fingers though... and praying...

firsttimer08 · 16/01/2016 15:02

We have got a call and are towards the beginning of the alphabet - still keeping the hope alive until Monday post, in case we were just at the cut-off between Tuesday and Wednesday.

DS found WUS much more difficult than CC both Math and English.

Sorry we HAVENT got a call!

We are waiting for a letter from CC 7+ as well. We are late in the alphabet so no stress about getting a call today but will be camping at the door waiting for the postman on Monday.

My DS said that the maths was ok, but non verbal reasoning was very tricky.

SuperWorried · 16/01/2016 18:31

Started to calm down and prepare for the worst. In reality, DS is odds on not to get in as the ratio for those schools is greater than 9 to 1. And from what I've seen these two days, all kids are as bright as parently possible. So can't really fancy our chance here. Just decided not to camp outside on Monday as it's rather chilly these couple of days.... still hopeful but not really hopeful...

Lastmindotcom · 16/01/2016 19:43

Calls from CC still taking place mid afternoon today.

HopefulButNotConfident · 17/01/2016 12:05

If only there were post on a Sunday...nail biting continues unabated.

computer1000 · 17/01/2016 17:46

my DS said that the spelling test had unusual / tricky words - anybody can comment?

manicwestlondonmum · 17/01/2016 18:57

My DS said there were words like careful, don't, again, whale etc. He can't remember any more.

Ladyofthepalace · 17/01/2016 20:47

If Colet is a no it will be a long old wait until King's post out their letters....

2512BC · 17/01/2016 22:28

DS mentioned that in his group there was a boy talking all the way through one of the written tests. He said he found it off putting - but felt that the teacher could hear easily. I wondered why the teacher didn't ask the child to be quiet. My son said he didn't want to cause a problem or lose time so tried to ignore it. I thought it was a bit unfair to the others but is this just one of those things and teachers don't ask the child to be quiet as it may draw too much negative attention?

computer1000 · 18/01/2016 04:03

2512BC did this boy do it in just one test not all of them? what was he talking?

firsttimer08 · 18/01/2016 08:13

It's here! But our post doesn't come until after lunchtime - so more wait.

SuperWorried · 18/01/2016 12:04

Yes for CC interview. Thank god!

firsttimer08 · 18/01/2016 12:14

A no for us unfortunately. Think same for WUS tomorrow as DS found that one harder.

OP posts:
HopefulButNotConfident · 18/01/2016 12:41

A no for us too. Sad Well done to your DS, SuperWorried.

firsttimer08, did your letter say they hoped you would enter your son for 8+ next year? Is that the standard wording for letting gutted parents down gently?

manicwestlondonmum · 18/01/2016 12:50

Yes for interview for us for CC. Phew!
