I didn't find any spells Wink

Well my DS has his second choice - better than nothing I guess but no waking to school for us..

Our first preference is oversubscribed, but we live 0.3 miles away as it's on our housing estate so though we had a good chance.
LAC - 4
Siblings - 31
Staff member - 1
Religious - 17
Other - 7, with last child being 0.2 miles away.

DH wants to appeal, as does my mum because it really is daft (I will have to drive past that school to drive a mile further away to drop/pick up DS. Laughable really).
But I'm accepting his second preference and making the best out of what we have been offered :)

Good luck to those yet to hear - I hope most of you get good news :)
To those who don't, I feel your pain..

3asAbird · 16/04/2015 14:12

Congrats to those who got 2 what they wanted.

sorry those who dident get what they wanted hope works out for you

Lovely read positive stories of not getting 1st and working out fine keep then coming Augher at London office pressing button at 5 and running out.

Wish bristol got 6 preferences.

Thanks for setting up this support thread.

I'm. Oddly happy but sad.

We dident get eldest school which would have been best for sons needs or 2nd choice but we got 3rd choice goodies school near our house we walk past it on way eldest on morning after school is where it's tricky.

Not getting 1st preference even more stressful split siblings. Disney men a cause offence seaside or start economic debate just not every school has wrap around care and yes will cost me.

So situation I now have.

Do aged 9 year 5 sept.uts her 2nd primary as 1st was dire ans she's done so well so happy settled been there nearly 3 years just over a mile but we out of catchment so our county gives no sibling link.its has good ofsted 100percent year 6 sats deputy head year 6 teacher and we can walk to it we know everyone we love the school.

D's 2 5.8 still in nursery plus home ed .She's happy but leaves nursery in July as she's blatantly now too old.she was only sibling from her preschool not get a place last year at eldest school we got none if 3 preferences ans allocated school but not great one or logistically possible. So we declined we moved up and down waitlists. She's no 1 at school a eldest school on waitlist.

She's also no 1 on school c which nearer infabts 3rd preference last year same this year for her brother. He's 4 support start sept and he's been offered a place.

It's a good school just large split site and wasent convinced good witu sen already worry he's not ready.but his sister is ready and if accept next person who leaves space is hers as will get sibling link but have eldest in 1 ans 2 in the other.

5mins walk from.house ans we walk past it get to school a.

Dident get 2nd preference bout of county which felt better for him.we live on the border.

Need chat nursery see if they keep him longer as she has funding.

Thinking accepting nearest infants ans defering which means middle one has sibling link but she really wants eldest school.

I'm. Appealing 5 year olds place at eldes school reception as without prejudice appeal as pan is 20 reception class is 20 ans year 1 2 mixed class is under capacity as 4 year one spaces riggt now and she's 16th sept ans is only a class 2 as class 3 mixed ks1 ans ks2 year 2 ans 3 so is don't apply.

Still till does not solve youngest.

But I don't feel he's ready.

Wondering if can win appeal as council unfairly not considered his sen.

So im.appealing his primary place ans send appeal rejection if his ehcp plan and going private so can get more evidence.

Until then home ed 5 and 4 year old if need be ans keep my options wide open in slightly better position than last year and him getting place gives 5 year old higher priority as she's been bouncing up and down that waitlist despite 509 metre distance.

Freinds didn't get nearest 2schools so loads people travelling miles and dissappear.

Combination high birth year snow babies as midwife called them high sibling and lots new housing as create perfect storm.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 16/04/2015 14:17

First choice here. Logged onto council website (Nottinghamshire) as soon as I woke up. Offer details on there. Viewed and accepted a couple of hours before the offer email arrived.

We live about 200m from the school, intake 81 so, despite no sibling link (DD is pfb) I wasn't particularly worried. Still, nice to have it confirmed. DD at private nursery in another school catchment area, so her nursery friends will all be going there. So now worrying that she won't know anyone and I will have to find new out of school child care. But good to know that I can start making firm plans now.

Flowers for all those who haven't got the news they hoped for today.

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 14:19

Back, still no news :(

Does anyone know under what circumstances siblings would get in over catchment?

late application? late with proof of address?

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 14:23

Giles Maybe it was your lucky year :)

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/04/2015 14:28

Hope it continues Grin

I didn't lie so they can't take it away and I'm assuming mistakes are rare?!

pineappleshortbread · 16/04/2015 14:29

Im wondering that too giles for next year as i will accept my childs place even if he doesnt get the specialist place but it is out of catchment and i cant be in two places at once when ds2 starts nexr year

NotAQueef · 16/04/2015 14:32

Been lurking for a while. We got our first and only choice so are thrilled. Sorry for those of you have had bad news.

Does anyone know where you can see the allocations like some have listed above (ie how many places went to siblings, how many to catchment)?

pineappleshortbread · 16/04/2015 14:34

I googled my school and admission priority to discover what priority order they give but dont know where to find any more information

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 16/04/2015 14:44

What do you mean late aplication Giles? Do you mean when would people be pushed down a waiting list?

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 16/04/2015 14:45

Winterbaby - why do they want to appeal. Distance sounds like you missed out. Do they think you should be faith? Or is it not ICS?

greenicecream · 16/04/2015 14:47

Also waiting for herts. On the council website they seem to have just published the allocation day stats I think you can work out if you fall within the distances that applied this year.

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 14:49

greenicecream I only see for Information from 2014-2015 which was last year

hillyhilly · 16/04/2015 14:50

I am indeed West of Sheffield and applying for Junior school rather than reception, which is why I'll appeal

Phoenix0x0 · 16/04/2015 14:50

From herts here and heard nothing yet....so frustrating!

MsFiremanSam · 16/04/2015 14:51

Fifth, last and very unwanted school here (Leeds) :(

I went through this last year. We got NONE of our six choices...then we got offered a school that wasn't on the list because it was so far away that took a bulge class then a week before term started we got our 3rd choice (which turned out to be a lovely school) and then in January we were offered 1st choice where DS is now and must go to pick him up! Just wanted to post my experience for anyone getting bad news today!

LittleLionMansMummy · 16/04/2015 15:03

I reckon I've done my bit for someone else by putting my hugely oversubscribed catchment school (Peterborough) as 2nd choice and applying (and getting) first choice over the county border in Cambridgeshire. That said, Peterborough LEA seems to have done a great job this year with more people getting their first choice despite rapidly increasing population.

This is what I am looking at - think it is 2015? Am I going mad?
