Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

tiggy, in Cumbria the lists are sent out to the schools by tomorrow at the latest (according to their schedule), but with the explicit instruction that the contents are NOT to be shared with parents/carers.

MTWTFSS · 26/03/2015 18:47

OMG so the schools know but make us wait an extra 3 weeks?!?

They need to write of this torture on boxes of condoms to stop unwanted pregnancy!

Yes they really do.

I wish I was Alex mack so I could sneak into the school office and find the list

Bunnyjo · 26/03/2015 19:39

Excuse the really poor photo. These are the deadline dates for secondary (column 1), primary and junior (columns 2 and 3).

The document does say that schools will be notified of numbers, but some LAs may give full lists (as may Cumbria). Either way, Cumbria will have finalised their allocations by tomorrow at the very latest - nearly 3 weeks before parents are notified. Larger LAs may well not confirm allocations with the schools until much closer to the offer days.

fluffymouse · 26/03/2015 20:21

If the LAs have already confirmed places then why do parents have to wait 3 more weeks?

Why does the whole process take so long??

mrz · 26/03/2015 20:23

Schools here don't know we usually find out the same time as parents.

mrz · 26/03/2015 20:27

We usually have a good idea who has applied from our nursery in advance but not who has been successful.

MTWTFSS · 26/03/2015 20:53

My council doesn't say on its admissions timeline when schools find out :(

Giles Alex Mack! I used to love that show!

Does anyone know what time the announcement is made (I'm in Surrey if that makes a difference)?

DuelingFanjo · 26/03/2015 21:24

A facebook acquaintance who lives near me has just posted that she found out, a day early, what school her son got I to. Would this be because it's a faith school?

DuelingFanjo · 26/03/2015 21:26

Also I just realised that when I am on holiday I won't have Internet access so may not get to know which school my son got until the end of April. Argh.

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/03/2015 21:36

Oh god how will you be able to stand it.

DuelingFanjo · 26/03/2015 23:04

I might give my mum my log in for the council website and get her to ring me... Only I just remembered she is going on holiday too!

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/03/2015 23:09

Where the hell are you going that has no Internet and Wtf were you thinking going there??, Shock

MTWTFSS · 27/03/2015 07:53

Please let me come too Dueling Grin

MrsG last year it was all different times. I was 8am by email. Friends were 10am and 12noon - same LA. Assume the system can't send 7500 emails all at once! Not Surrey tho.

Thanks tiggy. I seem to remember it saying evening, so will try at 5pm and see if it's there. Anyone else being irrational and worrying their form hasn't gone through or they filled it in wrong?!

Gileswithachainsaw · 27/03/2015 12:24

Yes I am. alot of people I know had letters asking fir address confirmation. I don't know of the fact I didn't means they got my address or that they never received teh application at all. which is stupid as I have emails confirming

MTWTFSS · 27/03/2015 13:31

On my council's website, you can log in and view the application.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 27/03/2015 13:53

We can log on from midnight.

MTWTFSS · 28/03/2015 09:06

No matter what happens, come Thursday 16th April I shall be treating myself to a Chinese take-away Grin (you should know, that is my absolute favourite cuisine to eat).

Is anyone else planning something to celebrate/commiserate 16th April?

Pagerty · 28/03/2015 09:36

Has anyone else only put down one school choice?

No village child child has ever NOT got in (if applied correctly at the right time) and no one ever puts any other school choices down but it is a small school (1 form entry of 15) and this years intake is looking higher than usual so starting to get a little jittery even though it should be a pretty safe bet. As long as I have filled the application in correctly ;)
