Fully expecting my DD to come home saying "nothing" or "I can't remember", she has actually reported back on her first two days:

DAY 1
She had assembly. She had to sit crossed-legged. The bigger children clapped in time with the piano and sang a song.
She had to sit on the carpet.
She didn't get to play with the bead toy even though she wanted to, because it was tidy-up time.
She sat next to Rebecca.
They explained about a bell, but she doesn't know when it rings or why.

DAY 2
They explained again about the bell, but she still doesn't know when it rings or why.
They didn't have assembly.
She drew a picture of herself, including a nose.
They all sang "heads, shoulders, knees and toes", and then did it fast.
Rebecca cried but she didn't know why.
They had playtime for the first time and she rode around on a mini trike, which was brilliant.
No one played on the pirate ship.
She had some milk, which means she will grow up big and strong.

Anyone else had a report back?!

These are very sweet Smile

Ds' first two days in year one:

Day 1: we sat on the carpet
We still get milk
Boys are in dinosaur groups, girls are in bug groups, the boys and girls never mix.

Day 2: I didn't have pudding as it was jelly and they'd ran out of yogurts
I'm in diplodocus group, there are girls in it too, nobody is in a bug group.
I got a marble in the class jar for doing good writing, so did S, but R didn't.

NCForNow · 07/09/2012 18:38

DD on her third day in reception.

"I am not allowed on the spinny thing unless there is a grown up about. I saw the head teacher...she spoke to me about plastic flowers." Hmm

"If you tidy up you get a stone to put in the jar...I didn't get one. I will tidy up! I will tidy up MORE than Charlotte!!"

GWenlockMaryLacey · 07/09/2012 19:17

Today I got (to my enquiry about her day and what she had for lunch)

"I have nothing to tell you about my day. I had mashed potato and something that I can't remember for lunch and banana cake which was yummy and better than yours."

Hmm Little bugger!

hugandroll · 07/09/2012 19:18

Ds1 had his second day. He still doesn't know the names of his friends and he did "nothing" even though he came out with two drawings. Will have to start asking other parents if they get any info from their children as I want to know what they do!

parabelle · 07/09/2012 19:59

Day one:
I had a banana and a biscuit. Some people only had a biscuit but I had a banana too.

Day two:

As soon as I picked her 'I can't talk about it, I'm too tired'.

Later - There's a chair where you can sit if you don't want to play with anyone. I sat in that chair today. (oh god, does she have no friends?)

From her older sister - I saw her at lunchtime playing on the train with Nancy, she seemed fine. (thanks for that).

maresedotes · 07/09/2012 20:33

Day 1 - DD2 announced that she can now read because she goes to school. "I can read that sign mummy" - she can't! Spoke to a girl "her name is something like Annabel (not one in the class)"

Day 2 - some long explanation involving any child being naughty and getting to red.

I wish I was a fly on the wall. Would love to watch her .

YouBrokeMySmoulder · 07/09/2012 20:49

Day 3 today:
Fell over in the playground again mummy.
Played babies on my own.
Did a dragon on the small black computer and it was on the big white computer too. After I did the dragon everyone took turns and I sat on the carpet and it was VERY BORING [this was shouted]
Made a kite.
I didn't do cooking and I didn't wear the pee kit.

JugglingWithFiveRings · 07/09/2012 20:49

My DS has just started in year 6. Just to say, throughout his school career the only thing I've reliably been able to get out of him was what he had for lunch. He's always had school dinners and is easily impressed by a hot meal and a tasty pudding ! Cute to hear about all the DC's first few days on here - I notice lunches and snacks quite strongly featured here too Smile

This year I did hear about his new classroom though on his first day back, which he says is the best in the school after a major extension to the school was completed during the holidays.

birdynumnums · 07/09/2012 21:10

I'm not sure ds1 had such a nice day today (2nd day)

(smiling) 'I played with Leah. She held me' (Now not smiling) 'James held me. He is a naughty boy. He had to say sorry to me'

Also complained 'there is no carpet. The carpet's at nursery'

On being asked why he didn't have any of his drink or much of his food 'I asked Mrs Smith. She said sit down'.

Teacher said she felt it had been 'a long day' for him.

millingtonsmummy · 07/09/2012 21:40

Day 1
DD painted a picutre of her face
Mattie killed a real dinosaur with his gun
There was chocolate milk and bread and butter at snack time
She played in the woods but didn't climb the trees because Kitty fell out of one and hit her cheek

Day 2
More chocolate milk at snack time
Meat and potatoes for lunch. There was also hot lettuce which she tried but didn't like
She sang a boogie woogie song about animals
Her PE shorts weren't comfy

Day 3
Lunch was beef on toast
Just normal milk today
She had a sticker but didn't know why she'd been given it
There were monkeys in her classroom

JugglingWithBocciaBalls · 07/09/2012 21:50

Sounds lively MM, what with real dinosaurs roaming around and monkeys running amok ! Beef on toast has me smiling too - I wonder what the fancy name for that was ?! Grin

< tries out new NN in honour of the awesome paralymics Smile >

millingtonsmummy · 07/09/2012 22:00

I can't even guess about beef on toast?! Hot lettuce was cabbage me thinks.

DownyEmerald · 07/09/2012 22:16

These are so lovely.

When DD was in reception they had a school trip to Steam at Swindon. DP was trying to get out of her what they'd done, and all he got was 'it was good', or 'it was fun'.

So he tried the 'what did you do when you got there?' approach

DD: 'well we got off the coach, and lined up, and Miss B counted us, and then boys went to one toilet and the girls to a different toilet, and I had a wee even though I didn't think I wanted one, and then we came out of the loo, and then we had fun'.

holyfishnets · 07/09/2012 23:07

Made a cake for the staff - not me!
Was chatting and got slapped by Scarlett on the mat.
Plays chase with the year 6 girls at every break time.
Had a cuddle and play with DS1 at break time.
Asked for a new book to put in book bag.
Played with my best friends xx and x.
Feels tired.
Can do a great impression of his teacher.

chocolatebourbon · 08/09/2012 17:19

These are making me smile so much.
DS1 started school in France last week.
Day 1: "I wanted mummy. The French ladies said mummy would come. One of the French ladies opened the door and mummy was there." (Think we have read Owl Babies once too often.)
Day 2: "The lady put her phone on and there were animals coming in out of the rain. We sang an animals song. There is a boy in my class called Noah." (That does in fact turn out to be true.)
Day 3: "I don't want to talk about school. I want a snack."
Guess he has settled in OK then...

radiohelen · 08/09/2012 21:42

Two days in one hit here...

Day 1
He drank milk "when I was 3 I didn't like milk but I do now"
He had an apple "I had two apples mummy, I ate one but... OH NO... I've left my other apple somewhere. I have to go and get it."
I saw XXXXXX in the playground and I played with him and XXXXXX (kids from playgroup)
He had mashed potato for lunch... and a cookie
"I don't want to go to school tomorrow mummy because it is such a long time when you come and get me."

Day 2
Lots of lunch detail - "I had fish fingers and chips mummy and one of my teachers put ketchup on my plate."
He had a biscuit for pudding
"I got a brush and some soap and cleaned the caterpillar"
"I went for a wee and a poo and while I was in there the light went dark so I couldn't wipe my bottom. I couldn't see the paper. I didn't like it. I don't like the toilet"

Can you see where the issue is going to be on Monday?

JugglingWithBocciaBalls · 08/09/2012 22:33

Poor caterpillar Grin

Stupid light !

Good luck for Monday - maybe he can go check up if the caterpillar survived ! Grin

skateboarder · 08/09/2012 22:51

Day 1.
"It was boring and I did nothing. Oh I went to the toilet twice"
(older sister told me she saw him at break and lunchtime with x, y and z)
(another mum text me to say how lovely he had been with her dd who was nervous about going)
(teacher told me he had been very helpful and earned lots of points for his team)
(his buddy told me they had caused mischief

Day 2:
"I went to the toilet and mr x told Y off for running. (not sure if Y was him or someone else)
There was a car I liked playing with.
I played a number game with K.
I saw some tractors in the field. Was it Mr B?

Day 3:
I dont like Mrs T, she made me give the scooter to W and I had only just got it.
Can you stay for the day with me?

Day 4:
I read some book, but there are no tractor books. I did well, but not really that interested. Why is there no tractor books?
There are no tractors to play with.

Putting my name in the letter box is too easy. Ive done it all week

All in all, I think the lack of tractors is an issue

skyebluesapphire · 08/09/2012 23:42

This morning DD asked when she had to go to school again. i said Monday. She said, what just for one more time?..... i said no, you have to go to school five days a week for the next fourteen years and she said but I want to stay home with you mummy and do things like go to toddlers and the farm and to the childrens centre...

Poor DD doesnt like school and has only been for 2 days!

RachelHRD · 09/09/2012 00:03

He ate his pudding first, doesn't know the names of anyone he played with and they sang about a naughty troll!!

Oh and as I dragged him reluctantly out of the classroom to go home he said 'I love school' Grin

Patiencedeficit · 09/09/2012 20:02

Heard lots of reports back from my DD but the most entertaining of all is that she still thinks it is called 'Perception' and not 'Reception'.

lorisparkle · 10/09/2012 00:27

DS2 is starting school in a couple of hours (note to self - must go to bed!) but DS1 is in Year 2 and reported on his first day that all they did was colouring - all day! So it does not get any better!

HolyParalympicGoldBatman · 10/09/2012 04:00

He didn't volunteer any information, but when questioned told me;

'I found A playing by the train track and I played by the train track as well. B wasn't there though'
'C,D,E and F were there' (from his nursery)
'I played with the keys and coins. Mrs X thought someone had keys from home for his house, but they weren't.'
For lunch he had' pastry and inside was something green, not sparagus' and for pudding he had 'melon, the yellow one, the one with the yellow skin, you know? The yellow one that I've had before'
in his classroom he has '900,000 and 100 and 100 books'
'Mrs X and Mrs Y have a pink camera'

educatingarti · 10/09/2012 11:13

"All in all, I think the lack of tractors is an issue "

Loving it!!

Wafflenose · 10/09/2012 14:28

DD2 started today.

She found a friend to play with, and stuck to her all morning. They played with the peg boards and toy farm, but weren't allowed to get the dolls' house out today. The teacher sang a Hello song. Everyone had a snack and went out to play. DD2 chatted to her friend, but didn't want to talk to the teachers.
