Fully expecting my DD to come home saying "nothing" or "I can't remember", she has actually reported back on her first two days:

DAY 1
She had assembly. She had to sit crossed-legged. The bigger children clapped in time with the piano and sang a song.
She had to sit on the carpet.
She didn't get to play with the bead toy even though she wanted to, because it was tidy-up time.
She sat next to Rebecca.
They explained about a bell, but she doesn't know when it rings or why.

DAY 2
They explained again about the bell, but she still doesn't know when it rings or why.
They didn't have assembly.
She drew a picture of herself, including a nose.
They all sang "heads, shoulders, knees and toes", and then did it fast.
Rebecca cried but she didn't know why.
They had playtime for the first time and she rode around on a mini trike, which was brilliant.
No one played on the pirate ship.
She had some milk, which means she will grow up big and strong.

Anyone else had a report back?!

Day one.
Had baked potato for dinner. It was yukky.
Met her buddy
Listened to a story about an owl
Played in sand
LOST HER CARDI

day two
Had pack lunch and it was miles betterbthan school dinner.
Flicked sand in another child's face by mistake
Listened to the ginger bread man story
Made a friend called Hannah
DID NOT FIND CARDI

timtam23 · 06/09/2012 22:20

Day 3:
Did an identical painting to day 2's thunderstorm picture. Except this one is "a sunny day"

Thinks he might have eaten a sausage for lunch. But not sure.

Likes the climbing frame (As evidenced by his brand new Startrite shoes being ripped to bits already)

Wants to go back to school NOW to play on the climbing frame

DD3 had a snack - it was fruit, either tomatoes or carrots. She chose a carrot. She also had milk to drink.
She caught her finger in the door, which hurt a lot but the doctor people gave her a plaster and she was very good because she didn't cry.
They didn't play outside much because not many people had sunhats.
She has to take a sunhat in tomorrow.
She met her buddy, who is a big girl.
There are three teachers, but she's not sure what the third one is called.
She is looking forward to going back tomorrow.

'The teacher said I was the best at sitting.' Grin

(Incidentally, this does not surprise me. Sitting is one of his great strengths. This was the final confirmation I needed that he is, in fact, his father.)

ProcessYellowC · 06/09/2012 23:24

Day 1
me - did you learn anything?
him - yes
me - what?
him - We learned to sit down. Except for one boy, he was naughty.

Day 2
me - what's this (Number 1 Helper Sticker) for? (expecting a joyous tale of him helping out and being very proud to get it)
him - I don't know. Can you remember? You can wear it if you like.

Day 3
I got to go into his classroom tonight and there were all these really cute kiddy laptops.
me - what did you do on the computer?
him - I drew a big circle with some dots.

Confused Grin

Incidentally I am Envy of everyone whose children get snack/cooked lunch. I have to send in snack every day, and make packed lunch until half term.

LittleWhiteWolf · 06/09/2012 23:33

These are adorable. I hope my DCs are the talkative type. Grin

louisianablue2000 · 06/09/2012 23:39

Yesterday she couldn't remember anyones names (except the teacher) and did a tricky elephant jigsaw and drew a picture and had her photo taken outside.

Today she remembered some names, including the teaching assistant and Olivia and Edward and Seb. She did some drawings for nursery (she goes to nursery for after school care) and they did some hand prints to decorate the walls because they are quite bare at the moment.

Teacher told DH this morning that jigsaw was very hard and she was impressed with how well DD1 did with it, nursery said when they did the pick up that she was bouncing out of the classroom full of news and the teacher told them she is settling in very well.

thaliablogs · 07/09/2012 00:14

We sat on the carpet and had two lessons. They did mostly showing.

We went in the playground and we can go anywhere we like except the teacher prefers we stay in the orange zone, but it's our choice.

We did colouring we can do it whenever we like.

numptymark1 · 07/09/2012 00:25

youbrokemysmoulder

that book will be Little Rabbit FooFoo

I love that book Grin

fromheretomaternity · 07/09/2012 00:41

Stayed at home. Stupid haringey schools do staggered starts, his first day is sept 19th :-/

ShutTheFrontDoor · 07/09/2012 09:34

The other children only talked sometimes, I talked all the time.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 07/09/2012 10:12

Day one:

we did marbling. (marble run thing)
I played with X and Y.
I had pear for my snack. I LIKE pear mummy!
We got up to lots of other things that I can't remember.
We had a Winnie the Pooh story but it was the one about the bees AGAIN.

Day two:
I was on a tricycle and we went too fast round the corner and I fell off and it fell on top of me and I banged my lip and had an ice pack.
I didn't get to show my toy at Show and Tell.
We did painting in overalls.
We did PE but not with things, just with ourselves.
The headmaster picked up a big yellow brain from the playground with his trowel. There were yellow spots on the ground afterwards. Confused

I am getting SO much more out of him than I thought I would! Grin

LoonyRationalist · 07/09/2012 10:38

Crying with laughter at "A knife is for guiding food gently on to your fork" DD1 also takes what her teachers say as gospel despite me having told her the same thing for 2 years previously
Also at "good at sitting" :)

NCForNow · 07/09/2012 10:49

reshape could that have been some kind of fungus? Grin

yewtree · 07/09/2012 10:57

Still crying with laughter at 'dust for lunch'. Grin

DD2 only started yesterday: 'I played on the computers with Millie and we laughed so much we fell off our chairs. Then we played in the wendy house and we laughed so much we fell out of the door. Then we sat on the carpet and learned a new song.' Sings? 'The caterpillar on my hand crawls around eating a nice green leaf'. Pause. 'I made up a new song? (sings) the caterpillar on my hand crawls around eating a nice big poo poo.'

Laughed herself to sleep after that one.

WorkingMummyof1 · 07/09/2012 12:21

Thank you so much for all the lovely posts - the stories are awesome! Was a bit down this morning (about an unrelated matter), but have been cheered up by these endearing tales. I always get a bit worried if DS can't remember what he did at nursery or reports minor things that made him sad, but sounds like that is all usual! funny how they can have a great day overall at school, but select to tell us about the one 5 minute incident that was "something wrong" :-)

Also wondering what "dust" actually was :-) Can't remember when I last laughed so much I fell out of a door - so glad the little ones are enjoying their start to school life!

MsGee · 07/09/2012 12:39

These are lovely. DD just had a quick session at school this morning and starts properly on Monday.

From her quick session DD said ...
The lady only started today and was scared (she is the new TA and I'm not surprised she's scared - she probably met the teacher).
We read a book about Alfie and there was a pig ... Cue excellent pig impression.
I put my hand up to talk about holidays but didn't get picked ... Cue fake sobs

I had a meeting at the school to prepare me for spending a week supervising DD eating lunch, where I learnt
How to queue properly
That DD should spend her weekend practising carrying a tray
That friends are encouraged to sit together. However when I mentioned I was friends with another mum I was told we would be separated at lunch time Grin
That one of the dads is very cool for calling the strict head of year Mrs T - his wife was mortified but we were all v impressed
Some stuff about how to queue for a school dinner.

blueskycp · 07/09/2012 14:00

DD first day yesterday. "didn't do anything, just sat there all day" Hmm "had a burger at lunch time & milk in a carton" Did you do any colouring or drawing? "no they'd run out of paper"
Will see what today brings!

bossboggle · 07/09/2012 14:02

Oh this is so wonderful, I have laughed myself silly at this and totally remember when my children were little and I was trying to ask them what they had done......oh the wonderful memories - it doesn't change much my DS is now at sixth form college (started yesterday) and he didn't tell me what he had done either!!......Oh well!!

manchestermummy · 07/09/2012 14:28

Love this! We're on half days at the moment, so

Day 1
Ate nothing, but drank milk (but claimed already to have had grapes when I offered some after her evening meal...)
Played with a little girl
Sat on the carpet

Day 2
Sucked the juice out of a tangerine
Was told to draw a picture of Elmer as homework Hmm

HipHopOpotomus · 07/09/2012 14:35

DD drank water from a "special childs drinking place" in the playground.
Sorted snakes.
Hung out in the work station area.
Learnt a new song with the HT which she remembered.
Already has a new sense of status and confidence.
Enjoyed lunch in the hall but is asking, already, if she can have packed lunches!! She would like a jam sandwich, yoghurt in a tube and fruit. I like the idea of school dinners (never had them myself).

skyebluesapphire · 07/09/2012 16:42

Day 2 and DD:

ate packed lunch
got sticker for doing everything that Mrs XXX said
sang twinkle twinkle chocolate bar, my dad drives a rusty car
sat on the carpet for a looooooong time
went home
