I don’t know why another thread hasn’t been created yet , so here you go. Now as we prep ourselves to the peak of this pandemic, let’s all face it together and appreciate how fragile our lives are and how we need each other to survive and flourish.

@VenetoResident Wey hey! Fingers crossed things keep getting better and better.

@applesandpears33 What about one of the big farm shop deliveries - Riverford, Graig, etc?

@Vaki Loads of positive vibes for your op! 🙂

Ordered some honeys today from the London Honey Co. Where possible, I’m going to make a real effort to support smaller UK businesses.

CakeOnMe · 23/03/2020 22:26

Missed a few pages, I’m slowly catching up again. I’ve been trying to “avoid” thinking about this for a few days. It’s crazy knowing that we have prepped for this and now need to start using our supplies! I am so thankful for everyone on this thread, thank you for your advice and your support.

I just wish that other members living in our HMO understood the severity of the situation. He’s invited 3 friends round and currently blasting music; as if we aren’t on fucking LOCKDOWN!! I suppose some people are just selfish cunts. Wish me luck everyone😂😪

Sprayitall · 23/03/2020 22:34

@Vaki Wishing you all the very best for your operation. Get well soon.

I don’t know why but I don’t have a good feeling at all. Trying to be upbeat but this worry and stress keeps lingering on my mind.

Sprayitall · 23/03/2020 22:36

Apologies. The second paragraph is for others and not for @Vaki.

@Vaki Wishing you all the best once again. Get well soon

@CakeOnMe I'm sorry. It must be awful being in an HMO right now. His friends will have to go now or they'll be breaking the lockdown rules. Hope they abide by it.

I've got the stress panic feeling too. It comes and goes. The internet is saving me. I'm so glad we can remain connected to the world.

It's going to feel strange going for a walk around the block tomorrow. I'll feel like everyone's looking out their windows at me imagining I'm breaking the lockdown! Does anyone else feel like this?

Graphista · 24/03/2020 00:18

@Vaki that’s dreadful your poor son! Glad those customers were barred? They should be! And good luck with the op.

@venetoresident no can’t get bleach or rubbing alcohol or anything. I’ve got some disinfectant for now but each time I try to order more as of course I’m using it, it’s out of stock! What’s really annoying is knowing that in many households in all likelihood they won’t use all they’ve bought. Plus I suspect there’s profiteering occurring with certain products. Certainly I’ve noticed products I use regularly advertised elsewhere at vastly inflated prices.

Glad numbers starting to lower there

@ApplesAndPears33

Farm shops
Veg box sellers
Milk delivery companies
Local independents - butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers...

We’ve even got the ice cream parlour is delivering here (in a safe way)

Also can you join the local Facebook pages where they are and see if there’s groups offering to help people in their position? There’s plenty where I am and I’m seeing similar elsewhere (places I used to live and still have friends who are sharing posts and pages)

Moominmamma13 · 24/03/2020 06:32

Been a long time lurker and couldn't quite keep up with the threads, so apologies if somebody else has already posted this

Hope you're all keeping safe

Neome · 24/03/2020 06:38

Sending love to all.

footprintsintheslow · 24/03/2020 08:54

@Vaki what a great response by the supermarket. And what a horrible thing for your son to go through. But he must take some joy in the fact that these idiots have been banned from the main source of food at the time then food is sparse.

@applesandpears33 have you tried local pubs. Some of those are selling food boxes

DennisTMenace · 24/03/2020 08:58

A few catering suppliers around here are now delivering to the general public. Most have a £50 minimum and things in large packs, but you can always share or freeze things. Their market has vanished in the past couple of weeks. I have seen them offering on local facebook groups.

NewYearNewTwatName · 24/03/2020 09:13

@applesandpears33

I saw these on another thread, I think they are mail delivery so no need for a delivery slot.

I hope it helps.

NewYearNewTwatName · 24/03/2020 09:23

a bit more about the Morrison's food boxes.

applesandpears33 · 24/03/2020 09:27

Thank you everyone. That suggestion about the Morrisons box is fab. Unfortunately, they live very, very rurally so their options are limited and online may be best if people will deliver to Highlands and Islands without a surcharge.

NewYearNewTwatName · 24/03/2020 09:34

You can only put their address in and see, but from what I gather it would be through carrier that would be doing online deliveries anyway.

If there is a surcharge, depending on how much. Would it be worth it to know they have food and essentials.

MrsWhites · 24/03/2020 10:20

Hi everyone, haven’t checked in for a few days. I’m trying to stay away from the internet in general, my anxiety was really starting to claim and since we have potentially weeks ahead of us I’m desperately trying to stay on top of it.

@VenetoResident fingers crossed that the numbers in Italy continue to go down, it gives us all hope!

@Vaki how awful that people think it is acceptable to treat people in that way. Well done to your son for keeping going in what must be a pretty horrific time for anyone working in supermarkets!

Sprayitall · 24/03/2020 11:15

@mrswhites same with me. My stress levels are high and I am scared that’s affecting my blood sugar levels. Worst thing is the GP surgery is closed for the public but they say I can request prescriptions only when it’s due. Which is 4 weeks away and they won’t deliver it either. They expect me to come to the surgery to get the prescription. I am now thinking how its going to work. Tried boots but they took the payment for 10 days delivery but the gp won’t prescribe it for another 4 weeks.

I couldn’t even catch some sleep properly and I keep waking up at 4 am with worry.

OP posts:
ifonly4 · 24/03/2020 11:38

I haven't posted for a couple of weeks, too much reading on the coronavirus threads. I'm so glad I prepped. Still have to buy fresh stuff for us and things for my Mum, but the less time I can spend in the supermarket the better. Luckily all the fresh stuff we need is the first third.

Hope everyone is ok.

MrsWhites · 24/03/2020 11:56

@Sprayitall our gp has said the same as yours, repeat prescriptions must be requested in the same way. Which seems crazy to me, just encouraging people to go into the surgery. You can only set up online requests by going into the surgery to set this up by filling in a form with the receptionist. Our chemist isn’t taking any more deliveries on either!

I’m finding that exercise is the only time I am really able to switch off so I’ve been finding some classes on YouTube and Facebook live, on the bright side I might come out of this in better shape! 😂

Super glad that I’ve been well prepared food wise, I won’t need to venture out until the weekend and then I’m going to try to keep local to just pick up fresh supplies.

Sprayitall · 24/03/2020 12:31

@mrswhites This exercise bit is getting on to me as well. I used to love going for a walk around but I’m hearing from the local group that there are these teenagers on bike coughing on people who walk when they are crossing them on their bikes. That leaves me so paranoid about leaving the house. They have raised the concerns with the parent group.. brats.. I am just loving the garden at the moment. All the news about healthy 18 year olds and under 40’s suffering in icu is not helping my anxiety.

Sprayitall · 24/03/2020 12:58

Awaiting grocery delivery but Most of the items are substituted or refunded. I am receiving under £50 of the order for £150 placed (this includes groceries for two households - ordered for a friend as she couldn’t get any slots)

Legoandloldolls · 24/03/2020 13:03

Just a heads up to get bin bags, rat traps and fly spray as just been on the news that bin collection might be disrupted.

This is costing me a fortune but have had a rat visit me twice ( not nice)

RaininSummer · 24/03/2020 13:29

Rat stew yummy. NOT in case anyone thinks I'm serious.

JustMeAndMyTins · 24/03/2020 14:16

Struggling today, ladies.

I’ve had chest pain - particularly on exhalation and mostly on the right side - since midnight. Had an ocular migraine before bed that turned into eye pain, legs were aching but they aren’t now, stomach’s been a bit weird but it’s a bit calmer now...No temperature and it’s hard to say about the beginnings of a cough because I have had a bit of one for 7 weeks - alongside viral pharyngitis that won’t bloody disappear.

Sorry. I’m up and working so I shouldn’t be whinging but I’m on day 6 of self-isolation at my parents house and I feel super alone and worried for myself (was already worrying about my throat and possibly having to go to yet another specialist while this is all happening) but also, my dad, who has COPD and leukaemia, is in the house and we’re sharing a bathroom.

To be clear, I was fairly isolated for 2 weeks before I drove up but I had a private medical appointment on the Saturday that was important and I had to collect (and drive) a hire car to get here.

Hope you’re all well. You’ll never know how much I’ve gotten from this board. Not information - community. 🌷

JustMeAndMyTins · 24/03/2020 14:17

Forgot the most important but - shortness of breath alongside the chest pain. That’s what’s worrying me.

Legoandloldolls · 24/03/2020 14:30

@meandmytins it soFunds like aniexity to me. Read to read or watch a film but if doesn't pass, maybe think about 111 or gp?
