A lot of us have been here before. We Prepped for Brexit. Some of us are Heathcare workers. We prepare for the worst every day. It's difficult to predict what will happen in our lives. In our lifetime. Will we get Cancer? Will a huge meteorite wipe the world out?

One thing is for sure, this new virus is either affecting us, or is going to affect us all very soon. You are all already onboard. I hope you are prepared and much as you can be. And in the meantime this thread is here to support us all.

This week will bring many new challenges. We are almost certain to have some sort of lockdown. Like other parts of Europe. We aren't special. We aren't different. We are all
fragile souls. But I hope we live to tell the tale.

God Speed.

Pressed send too soon....

It doesn't feel like the right weather for a virus. It's very strange.

doneaflit · 15/03/2020 15:03

@macronspenwiper it's a real worry. I'm trying to make sure he's as healthy as possible to fight off anything. Vit d and probiotics, max dose brown inhaler, healthy diet.

Those using spacers, don't underestimate how important it is to clean them, otherwise the particles get stuck on the inside of the spacer and you won't get your full dose.

Rosegardensandgin · 15/03/2020 15:03

Hi, how do we clean the spacers please? Blush

MoonlightMistletoe · 15/03/2020 15:06

I've had an energy drink and now regretting it because it's made my anxiety worse!

Just seen a hack for a gleaming draining board by using tin foil so I'm off to give that a scrub while waiting for the update. Sigh.

tryingtoprep · 15/03/2020 15:18

The delay makes my overly cynical mind think they're trying to hide something.

So sad to read of the latest death. Of course they had to add "underlying conditions" to make the public think it's people already critically ill. He was in his 50s (like Boris) and had likely been living a normal active life - with a managed health issue.

I'm avoiding the TV news. I find coming here less stressful (and more informative). Is Boris hiding again?

GeistohneGrenzen · 15/03/2020 15:18

YoursTunbridgeWells I do need loo roll in the next fortnight ish otheriwse I will dip below an acceptable threshold. Trouble is if we're all in self isolation by then, how do we get any?

Go to Amazon and check out their Amazon Brand Presto loo rolls. There should be several choices but as they'd sold out of my usual 3ply recently I bought a pack of 4ply. 48 rolls a pack for £24.99. They should have cheaper ones too. Delivered free so you don't have to manage the bulk yourself. Inside the main pack they are split into more manageable ones!

doneaflit · 15/03/2020 15:20

@rosegardensandgin just warm soapy water works an absolute treat. The aim isn't to disinfect, just to remove the residue inside the tube. Take it apart as much as the design allows, soak in warm soapy water and scrub, then leave to air dry.

Sprayitall · 15/03/2020 15:21

I dreaded the numbers today so I thought I will login an hour late but still no update makes me feel unwell already .. I am trying to compose an email to the school but I can’t really think properly about putting the wordings nice ffs it’s a pandemic and I’ve got my reasons..

RhubarbTea · 15/03/2020 15:21

@Rosegardensandgin do you mean an asthma inhaler spacer?

I am also worried about the update being late. I am convinced they are waiting til after the shops close at 4pm /4.30 so people can't rush out and mob the shops....

Sprayitall · 15/03/2020 15:25

@HuggedTheRedwoods Thank you for your reply and I think that’s a good idea. I should try that along with whatever I plan to do already.

People could you please give me an idea of what to type in the email that’s polite as well as firm about me not sending dd to school amidst all the chaos

MacronsPensWiper · 15/03/2020 15:26

Done... Thank you. I didn't actually realise that?

I made sure vit tabs taken from 3 weeks ago, got the immune probiotics, got milkshake powder because its got extra vit d and it may make the uht milk tastes nicer.

I am the proud new owner of a small table top chest freezer.

Ideally I'd like loads of large chest freezers but just to be able to expand capacity a little has been a huge relief.

SistemaAddict · 15/03/2020 15:27

Aha! Found you!

I'm prepping by cutting up and freezing celery for soup in weeks to come. I have a lot of carrots so might do the same with those.
I've got some veggie soup on the go and bread on it's second rise. I'm
Slowly working my way through the laundry and trying to think positive whilst being worried.

MacronsPensWiper · 15/03/2020 15:27

Older dd is very compliant and will drink fresh juices etc but younger has limited diet.

Posharmchairs · 15/03/2020 15:28

I’m going a bit potty. Can someone distract me with how to plant potatoes that have started sprouting?

I’m feeling unwell, but in a nauseous dizzy kind of way, which I think is anxiety taking hold.

MissPoldark · 15/03/2020 15:29

I am convinced they are waiting til after the shops close at 4pm /4.30 so people can't rush out and mob the shops....

Doubt it, there’s not much to buy!

RhubarbTea · 15/03/2020 15:35

Ha, yes true. Tesco at opening this morning was like Christmas but more grim, absolute bedlam. However if they release figures after 4.30 I will feel vindicated.

I'm supposed to be writing an open uni essay and I can't concentrate Sad

doneaflit · 15/03/2020 15:42

I was in isolation earlier this week due to contact, but now released and haven't been unwell. On the one hand it was good to test all my preps. On the other, my preps have taken a dent (surprised how quickly we got through it all) and it's difficult to restock now. Early this week my main task will be going out to replenish.

I'm also going to look into more local ways of continuing to get supplies. I've seen lots of local small businesses adapting to fit isolation, which might provide a good source during lockdown. Farms will still have produce, cv or not. Cows will still need to be milked (during my brief SI my milk was still delivered by our local milk farmer). Small businesses will be hit by all this, so id like to spend my money there.

RhubarbTea · 15/03/2020 15:43

Oh fuck Sad

RhubarbTea · 15/03/2020 15:43

14 more people have died.

MoonlightMistletoe · 15/03/2020 15:43

One gleaming draining board later and still no update 😳

They done this before didn't they but the numbers weren't increased significantly I'm hoping it's the same this time and not a massive shock, even though this whole situation is shocking.

MoonlightMistletoe · 15/03/2020 15:45

@RhubarbTea there it is the shock 😞 this is so horrible.

MoonlightMistletoe · 15/03/2020 15:46

Up 232 😞

Damn

Orchidflower1 · 15/03/2020 16:00

That’s so sad, so awful. I’m so very cross and very sad.
When is the twunk bojo actually going to do something? The fact that he thinks of himself as a modern day Churchill is an insult to that mans memory.
