A lot of us have been here before. We Prepped for Brexit. Some of us are Heathcare workers. We prepare for the worst every day. It's difficult to predict what will happen in our lives. In our lifetime. Will we get Cancer? Will a huge meteorite wipe the world out?

One thing is for sure, this new virus is either affecting us, or is going to affect us all very soon. You are all already onboard. I hope you are prepared and much as you can be. And in the meantime this thread is here to support us all.

This week will bring many new challenges. We are almost certain to have some sort of lockdown. Like other parts of Europe. We aren't special. We aren't different. We are all
fragile souls. But I hope we live to tell the tale.

God Speed.

The plastic masks are still available in wickes. £23 elipse respirator masks - can be used for about a month.

It's strange how different each others supermarket experience is I suspect it gets more fraught as the numbers go up locally.
We have only a few cases 10 miles away our supermarket were fine (I've been to Asda, Sainsbury's and 2x Tesco doing weekly fresh top of Allergy food) in fact a bit quieter with people making space for one another if anything people have been far more considerate compared to usual!

Some supplies are low or sold out. Tesco at 8am Saturday still had some loo paper, pasta and handwash but no non dairy yogurt. Tesco 11am on Saturday loo paper, pasta and hand wash sold out but non dairy yogurt was in stock.

Always makes me nervous when the update is late.

Posharmchairs · 15/03/2020 14:32

@16943389ao I feel the same, meant to be folding laundry but have a knot in my chest.

16943389ao · 15/03/2020 14:34

Me too just trying to draft an email to advise why my daughter won’t be at school tomorrow while constantly refreshing x

MoonlightMistletoe · 15/03/2020 14:36

Same here!

I'm afraid to say I've just seen that a man in his late 50s has passed away bringing the total to 22deaths from Coronavirus.

16943389ao · 15/03/2020 14:39

@MoonlightMistletoe so very sad.

Nofoolfornoone · 15/03/2020 14:39

Is there due a government announcement today?

BanKittenHeels · 15/03/2020 14:39

Had a supermarket delivery from Morrison’s today (our regular shop) with no substitutions. He phoned to say he was here and asked where to put it and left it in the porch, then phoned to say it was all done. Very sweetly said get well soon.
I now can’t get their app to refresh. Apparently the Ocado app is down too, they are both run by the same company aren’t they? Or at least they were at some point.

My cough has become very hollow, I have a headache and my throat hurts. Temp keeps spiking and coming back down but my everything else is fine.
DC now all have a productive cough, suspect that’s just something seasonal.

I worry when the figures aren’t out on time for the whole of the U.K.
Scotland now at 153 cases.

BanKittenHeels · 15/03/2020 14:41

Also we woke up to no water this morning! A leak nearby meant low pressure and eventually no water whatsoever. Bit of a worry when self isolating. Thankfully we have some bottles of water but even better it came back on before midday!

I had to laugh because it just seemed so utterly ridiculous.

savethecat · 15/03/2020 14:41

Gosh they really are late today

HuggedTheRedwoods · 15/03/2020 14:43

@Sprayitall @84TinsOfBeans Slugs and snails - it sounds bonkers but I feed them. I keep a corner of the garden separate for the slugs where I chuck veg peelings, leaves etc even buy the odd bag of spring greens - about 60p and lasts a few weeks- or the odd handful of cat biscuits if I've no leaves. A couple of old plant pots for the little pests to hide in and a dish of water too. It seems to keep them in one area, away from the plants plus there's no risk if birds or hedgehogs come in.

sideorderofchips · 15/03/2020 14:43

Afternoon all

Anyone else waiting so see today's number?

sideorderofchips · 15/03/2020 14:44

Ah I see I'm. Not alone.

Yes i get concerned when it's late too

BanKittenHeels · 15/03/2020 14:44

34 new cases in Wales.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 15/03/2020 14:46

I saw some awful behaviours in the local shops earlier. In my town shelves have been fairly well stocked until now (apart from the now expected scarce stuff).

The sooner a uniform rationing is implemented the better or god help those that can only afford to shop once a week and need the basics.

We also need a daily briefing by our PM, same time each day, to calm the rising panic and show visible leadership.

Catmaiden · 15/03/2020 14:48

I have a relative, who lives in a Uni town where there have been confirmed cases.
He is self employed and his work has stopped and he now wants to come and stay with us for the CV duration.

This makes a lot of sense, he would bring his prepped stocks, we would have extra help on the farm (our seasonal workers cant get here, now!) , it would be more company for us all, as some of us are in the "over 70 lockdown" category etc.

I'm minded to ask him to isolate in the farm caravan for 7 or 14 days, at least for sleeping, showering , toilet etc. I'd provide meals, if he wishes, and he can go for walks, talk to us when outside etc.
This protects us from him, and him from us, until he's shown he's in the clear.
He's fit and healthy , apart from being over 60 and with a "underlying health condition" that makes him more vulnerable to CV 19.

Obviously, if he gets ill, I'll nurse him, which would be an advantage over where he is, now

I think it would be a wise precaution for us to take.

Thoughts ?

Posharmchairs · 15/03/2020 14:54

@catmaiden I think that sounds like a very plausible idea. You’re risk assessing and taking precautions but also able to support each other.

I’m concerned I’m going to have to convince dh to join me in lock down by the end of the week so that we can look after our ageing family.

@Bankittenheels 🌷I hope you feel better soon!

I'm sat in the garden. Enjoying the ☀️

YoursTunbridgeWells · 15/03/2020 14:57

There are confirmed cases in the children's school now - by swabs. But it seems they have been told the rest of the family doesn't have to isolate so siblings back in school the next day.

Although I thiink I have prepped ok - I do still want to keep topping up - I do need loo roll in the next fortnight ish otheriwse I will dip below an acceptable threshold. Trouble is if we're all in self isolation by then, how do we get any? It seems to be missing from a lot of people's online shopping orders so I'm not clear how to find any. Every shop I have popped into has none.

The stress of starting on my preps too soon is getting to me.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/03/2020 14:59

FFS. I managed to wait until 2.27 to check. And now I am grrrrrrrrrr.

MagisCapulus · 15/03/2020 15:00
