well done on your case studies fettle hope your DD feels better soon, I am sure C has already had swine flu as we have had 2 nasty "virus's" with high temps in the last 4 months - I was thinking the other day couldn't they just develop a small finger prick blood test that everyone could do to see if they had natural immunity and then vaccinate the ones that weren't?

thanks also for the warning about septic arthritis - luckily it did not happen again and I gave him a rhus tox (homeopathic remedy) the next night and he was a lot less restless in bed. He is 100% better now - phew.

I can't wait till all the teeth are through so when he is off colour I will know it is NOT teeth as like Toby C has really suffered with them - now he does actually cry and say "teeeeffff"

greedy- Everyone I talk to about the 2 year check seems to have a diff opinion and it seems every area has a diff policy/ set of standards- just another thing to confuse parents!! I am sure Marcy is fine - C is not into puzzles either - whenever I try to do them with him he undoes them as quick as I put them together! He would rather chew the pieces!
ROFL - only you could post WILLY in caps greedy!!

Aww ready H does not hate you!!! She LOVES you. I agrees it could be trapped wind or anything really - who knows what goes on their little heads at this stage, again like everyone said the world must be pretty scary too. Also she is just figuring out her actions and reactions etc.

honey - hope Dex's dodgy poo stayed away! well done on your essay writing

Not sure if lottie is around but I had a little stalk to see if she and the girls are OK (hope you don't mind lottie )she has had a dramatic time and is still in hospital on bed rest but is now 32 weeks and I think I read that she was airlifted in a very snazzy air ambulance to a bigger hospital last week. Thinking of you LL and sending good sticky/long/closed vibes to that cervix of yours!!

fettle · 23/11/2009 21:31

Oh Seaside - thanks for letting us know about Lottie, I was getting quite concerned about her, as we haven't heard for such a while. Glad those twins have stayed put so far - what a traumatic time you've had getting these little ones Lottie - fingers crossed all goes well now on.

Seaside - glad Cassius is better - it is horrible when they are ill. cute "teeefff". Toby just puts his finger in teh back of his mouth and goes "ow"!

greedygreedyguzzler · 24/11/2009 11:13

cant believe lottie is 32 wks! wow!!!

WILLY WILLY WILLY!!!............just for you seaside!

Chooster · 24/11/2009 19:12

Hi all - Lottie is 32 weeks - OMG, thats flown by!!! Hope she is doing ok... Bed rest in hospital must be such a drag for her, but at least it sounds like she's being well looked after.

Theo didn't get get a 2yr check either and his speech was pretty dodgy until the last few months when suddenly he's gome from saying barely recognisable words to pretty decent sentences. I'm sure she'll be chatting away in no time, and then you'd be hoping she'd go back to the babble . How are your other 2 Greedy??

Hope DD is doing OK fettle - it sounds like she's got SF doesn't it, especially with her best friend ill as well. Hope you and Toby are OK. . Well done on getting your assignments done!!! I may have a glass of wine for you tonight .

I had thought of getting a DS for my DS1 for xmas but I dont think he's really that into computer games yet as he's shown no interest and if I get it for him now when he's not bothered then what will I end up getting him when he's 6 / 7 and really enjoys that stuff... Anyway, i'm hoping that santa thinks I've been good anough to deserve a wii, so I'm sure DS will be able to have a go on that (I've dropped enough hints! - or have I???? ).

Here all is better but we've all had gastroenteritis - blueeegh!!! well, me and the Ds's - DH has escaped and I think thats because he's stayed too far away from the action! On saturday night I was sick, then MAx came running through as I was our en-suite bathroom and didn't make it so was sick next to my bed, then after I'd stripped him down ang put him in my bed, DS2 starts!!! F*ing nightmare! And so began our weekend! poor ds1 has been off school so much recently and I'm sure I'm triggered my "she's been off too much her manager needs a word" alert in our HR system.

Right, better help DH get the kids ready for bed...

Hope Hannah stops the crying ready - as the others have said, she'll love you more than anything

Chooster · 24/11/2009 19:13

oops sorry for all the typos !!!!!!!!!!!

Ready · 24/11/2009 20:27

Lottie being airlifted!! Drama! Glad to hear all is well, cannot quite believe she is 32 weeks, really looking forward to hearing all about the twins ? not yet though.

Chooster, sorry to hear about the stomach upsets, never nice. Cleaning sick off the carpet is never easy.
How loud have your wii hints been?

Well done of your assignments Fettle, I am sure they are good, even if they are not your best. But then knowing you, they are probably perfect, and you are just being hard on yourself.
Hope DD is ok, and not getting any worse. Hope it is not SF, and if it is hope Toby doesn?t get it.
I reckon H will be a Daddy's girl - but I am really pleased because I don't have anything to do with my father, and I feel I missed out on a father/daughter bond.

Seaside, that is so cute that C says teef. Bless his little heart. How many teef does he have so far?
Haha, chewing the pieces of puzzle has got to be far more interesting than doing it. Puzzles are a waste of time aren?t they ? only to get broken back up after all that work and put back in the box. Pah.

Greedy, HV should never be listened to, some are just twats. You are a great mum, and so what if Marcy doesn?t like puzzles, and loves a good babble ? she will talk more when she is ready, and yep, she really does have great hair!!

Question for Seaside and Greedy, well anyone really? is it a good idea to switch to a faster flowing teat at some point? I have been using tommeetippee bottles and the first stage flow, H seems perfectly fine with them, but the box says up to 3 months? what do you think?

Have had two really mad days with H, she has only had 2 naps each day. Yesterday she point blank refused to sleep for the afternoon nap, just laid in her cot babbling away to her mobile. When I went in to sit with her she just started smiling at me and so I sat with her for 30 mins and she just kept smiling, then grizzling, smiling, babbling. In the end I got her up (probably shouldn?t have) put her in the car and went for a drive ? and she always sleeps in the car if she is tired, but she didn?t! By 7pm she was like a drunk slumped over my shoulder while I burped her. Then today she slept for 2 hours in the morning then it took hours to get her off for her lunch time nap, which ended up being at 3.20!!! So there wasn?t time for an afternoon nap when she woke at 4. I know I sound obsessed with sleep ? but where am I going wrong?? Ladies? tell me about your little one?s napping habits when they were 4 months old!!!! Please.

Oh, and H is 4 months old today

honeyapple · 24/11/2009 21:25

ready- trying to think back to 4 mths... if I were you I would chuck out the clock and just go with what H seems to want to do- but I know that is not advice that everyone wants to hear! I am definately less hung up on how much/ how little sleep Dex has than I was with the others- if he misses his afternoon nap then he just catches up a bit later- bedtime might get a bit later too- but I don't really mind. If H is happy lying in her cot babbling and playing then I wouldn't worry if she is not actually sleeping- I think just having a peaceful quiet time is often just as good.

fettle- well done on finishing your assignments. I did a bit more today- started to get into the flow- just when i had to go and pick Dex up! He cried first time today when I left him . Of course they said he was fine 10 mins later...

Well Dex is brill at puzzles- still can't talk though

fettle · 24/11/2009 21:48

Honey - Toby loves jigsaws - he's so good at them in a way that DD never was (or me for that matter)! He's doing 12-24 peice ones now with only a little bit of help![proud mother emoticon!]

DH heard him chatter away while he was on the phone earlier and he was nearly in tears (DH not Toby!), as he was so amazed how well he is talking now, compared with the utter jibberish he was constantly saying when he left back in September - amazing what a difference 2.5 months makes!

Chooster · 25/11/2009 13:14

That sounds like proper full on sentences Fettle!!! He's a clever boy .! It must be tricky answering kids questions about DH's job. DS1 has recently been very interested in war since I told him what poppies were about. I dont think he gets it at all and I managed to avoid the whole concept of people dying .

Hi ready - you sound like me when Ds1 was little (and still to a small extent now! ) - I'm still quite sleep obsessed, although much more relaxed with DS2 than DS1. I think Honey has the answer, pretty much go with the flow of it, otherwise you'll end up stressed and Hannah will pick up on that anxiety. I made a rule that the kids would never sleep passed 3.30 - this is when they were a bit older than hannah, but I tried to relax about the sleeps before that time. Tricky though!!! It does sound like she's not a natural day time napper - some babies are like clockwork .

Off to take DS1 to doc later as he still has a bad bottom - so thats 7 days now... He's drinking and eating fine but no solid poo for a week .

Also I was thinking this morning of some of the embarassing things that I've said to people accidently mainly because I met one of these people for coffee today - she's one of my NCT friends from when Max was born. Anyway it was not long after our kids has been born and we were talking about what age gap between numbers 1 and 2 we would want in an ideal world. I said that I wanted no more than 3 years as I didn't want to be changing nappies etc when I was 40.... Silence.... Of course I look around and realise that 3 of them are 40 or over and just starting out . The thing is I didn't mean it badly as there is nothing wrong with being a 40's mum at all - I guess I meant I personally didn't want to be doing it 8 yrs after my first was born >. My other one was to my best friend after she'd had her lovely long hair cut short. I was at her place and looked at a picture of her sister with someone. I said "who's that bloke with your sis?" - mmm, of course it was her and I hadn't realised. The worst bit was she was pretty self consiuous about having her hair cut short . Anyone else had these foot in mouth moments - please let it just not be me...

greedygreedyguzzler · 25/11/2009 13:19

just have to ask if any of you have seen the dodgy things that get sold on ebay?.....................like 'well worn ladies slippers with a strong aroma'!!! my friend commented on facebook about these slippers she had found so i had to go and have a search and there are manky old pairs of tights and shoes............all apparently being sold with no sexual meaning!

anyway.....YUK!!!....i just had to share!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 25/11/2009 13:21

crossed with you chooster, but yes, i am always saying things like that!!! although i cant think of any examples at the moment!!

honeyapple · 25/11/2009 20:43

greedy- those smelly things on ebay must surely be for some scummy weirdo to get off on?!

chooster- i think we have all had moments like those . Sorry to hear DS1 still has a funny tum- might be worth giving him a bit of a boring diet for a few days to see if it calms his insides down.

I have NCT tutorial tommorrow- have to talk a bit about aromatherapy in labour- and also wondering whether to give my tutor the essay i have started to have a look at... no clue if i am going down the right track with it!

fettle · 25/11/2009 21:02

Hope course goes well tomorrow Honey - I had a good day (got 99% in case study I was handed back, which was fabulous!!). I would certainly see if she can look over your essay and give you some pointers, as it would be a shame to spend hours labouring over it and find out it wasn't what they wanted? We were allowed a test case study, which we handed in and they allowed us to resubmit it with their comments incorporated.

Chooster - I'm sure I've said many things worse than that in my time - don't you worry about it!!! Hope DS1 ok - doesn't sound good, but Honey is right - have you tried a very bland, white diet for a while to see what happens?

Right, I'm shattered. Sleep well all.
xxx

fettle · 25/11/2009 21:14

BTW How much do those used things go for on ebay? I can't sell good quality unused things, but used smelly items sell? There is no understanding the human race sometimes!!

iamamummy · 25/11/2009 23:09

Hi ladies. Having a catch up on my mobile so hope this makes sense. All is well here apart from us all being full of cold but herbie is dealing with it so so well. I decided to stop the breast feeding in the end at 6 weeks it was all getting too much but my milk dried up instantly so im wondering if my early day expressing gave me some supply issues. Anyhow he is so content on a bottle and started going through the night too from 9 til 6 so im more than happy. Really enjoying looking after the 2 now we are sort of in a routine. Getting ready for xmas now and im turning our conservatory into a santa grotto for oscar so will be putting pics on face book soon. I hope to get time to post to you all tom on my pc have so much to say but this phone is not really workin for me il be here all night writing this post. Love to you all x

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/11/2009 18:03

fettle - they go for quite a lot of money some of them!!! one old pair of laddered tights (sold by a sophisticated office woman apparently) had 12 bids and were up to £5.60 yesterday when i looked!!!

talking of weirdos..........i was searching on google for 'alternative therapy clinics' to pinch some ideas for my website and i came across this www.alternativetherapyclinic.com/

Scorps · 26/11/2009 18:05

greedy, its a well known thing, you are not allowed to advertise as sexual just well worn

There have been other MN threads on it. Odd

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/11/2009 18:07

if it didnt seem so seedy, i could make a fortune!!! i have loads of manky old things hanging around!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/11/2009 18:08

how are you feeling scorpio? not long left now!!! how is everything with you and dh? all back to normal?

Scorps · 26/11/2009 18:13

I have some old slippers to throw away and i cant quite bring myself to list....

Yes DH & I are doing ok, quite good. He gets a bit sad i don't feel able to kiss him very much, but i am affectionate in other ways. Its my baby step way or nothing! He is behaving muchly.

I have 4 weeks tomorrow left now feeling quite round....picture on my profile (cant remember if you are my fb friend or not)

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/11/2009 18:20

SHOCKING!!!! you obviously have too many FB friends!! i commented on your jeggings!

Scorps · 26/11/2009 18:23

I thought it was you...just a few now are MN friends and i'm a bit lost

fettle · 26/11/2009 19:51

Greedy!!! That's going to stay marked on my computer history as going to a weird site now!! Shouldn't have pressed the link and just asked you what it was about - but I mean really!!!! Is that website for real??? Do people really want that kind of stuff?! I'm obviously too normal! Well I'm off to try and sell a very good quality quinny cosy-toes - hope it goes to a good home, not to some weirdo!!!!

Scorps great to hear from you! You're looking fab in your photos by the way! Can't believe how neat your bump is looking! I'm envious I didn't have my kids 10 years ago - maybe my body would have coped better? Nah, you're just much fitter and skinnier than me anyway! So pleased to hear that you are working things through with DH and I'm glad to hear that he's being understanding of taking things slowly.

Honey, how did you get on today?

Iammummy - good to hear from you too. Don't worry about stopping breast-feeding, sometimes it just doesn't work out for many different reasons. You tried and that's the main thing, as long as you and Herbie are happy that's the most important consideration!

x

toomuchtimeonline · 27/11/2009 21:39

{toomuch sneaks in} hello everyone! sorry to join you and then run... was on holiday for 2 weeks and then had this puking bug (yuck) - off to try and catch up..)although I may fall asleep tonight as already nodding off.. but promise to post properly soon

Ready · 29/11/2009 16:38

Having a nightmare with the teat situation? switched to size 2s but H is spilling loads of her feed, just keeps dribbling it all out the sides of her mouth. I reckon we will probably have to go back to the 1s for a bit? any idea if the variflows are worth getting as a practise for the 2s?

Toomuch, lovely to see you, hope you had a lovely time away, sorry to hear you have been poorly. How are things going?

honeyapple, I know you are right about chucking out the clock ? ha! If only I had that ability in my make-up ? but sadly I am an organisational control freaking nightmare! Poor H was born to the drill sergeant mummy! I need to know (at least roughly) how my day will pan out. Things have been better the last few days, she has napped well and I have felt like I know what I am doing ? but then I just know she will throw in a wobbler day and make me feel incompetent again
How was the tutorial? And how was your aromatherapy talk?

Fettle, that made me laugh, go with what H wants to do? never sleep, then It is good that no one can remember what their little ones did at 4 months? it means that while it is my obsession of the moment, it will pass.
Can?t imagine having to explain to DD about Daddy with a gun - perhaps

Chooster, thank goodness for you ? I was beginning to think I was the only sleep freak I am sure when dc2 comes along I will be less stressed by it, but it is all I can think about.
And I am also similar in that ? I am always always putting my foot in it at our mum and baby group ? I have a new year?s resolution (starting early) to keep my mouth shut! I was going to share my latest foot in mouth incident, then I thought I could well offend someone on here, so? keeping the mouth SHUT. Just wanted to let you know, it really isn?t just you.
How is DS1?

Greedy, what exactly are you doing cruising ebay for dodgy used items?
And there is no way I am clicking on your link? is it really weird?

Iamamummy, glad to hear things are going well I had no problems with expressing early on, it didn?t seem to affect my supply ? but I have read that it can affect it when you are just establishing things, so it is possible? Although I would have assumed it would have to be more than just a one off to create problems.

Nice to see you Scorpio, glad things are going well, and things are improving with you and DH. Hope you are glowing? Very exciting that you are almost there, do you think you will be early?

Seaside, hope all is well. Thought of you today when H had half a mouse shoved in her mouth

Hope I haven?t missed anything?.
