Duchesse - flipping heck scary. The stuff nightmares are made of!

I dreamed last night that I had this huge baby and .... it was a tennis ball!!! I measured it and said to DH "that head isn't 10cm" .... ... too much cheese???

BonzoDoodah · 06/07/2009 10:34

cross posts there ... jw NO PRESENTS??? Does this man not want to live????

johnworf · 06/07/2009 10:37

Obviously not bonzo I've actually asked him where my present is and it turns out, there isn't one.

Apparently he ordered it but won't be coming until after the 12th. As you can imagine...I'm ecstatic.

NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!! It's not the bloody final countdown....NO! Quick, someone sing something else...get this 80's nightmare out of my mind.

jw the 12th eh??? Have you any inkling of what it might be???? It could be worth the wait I'm looking on the bright side!

bonzo OOoooo, it's getting near!

iris ah yes, i see that my Friday prediction is a little out! How are your hormones today? Are they giving you gip?!

Girls are pooped. Friend (non-baby one!) On her way over for a chat.

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2009 14:06

Hippo Bird Day two Ewes JW! I can totally believe your DH because mine would do the same...he says that his family don't 'do' birthdays, they celebrate more at christmas instead, whereas mine would celebrate the opening of a fridge I say he knew how I felt about birthdays before he married me to he had better toe the line....I sincerely hope that what your Dh has got you is worth the wait ... Incidentally in the language of flowers 'cactus' means endurance...apparently.

Iris I hope things get moving today... funnily enough Muppetgirl from the Oct 07 thread is having a C section today...get bouncing on that ball.

Alex want 'Dock' (thats the way he says toilet) bbl

hedgepig · 06/07/2009 14:07

here JJ this will take you mind off it teehee!!!

ermintrude13 · 06/07/2009 15:43

JW HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Here /hands over box of goodies/ you can choose one pack of mini-biscuits, a luxury microwaveable hot chocolate pot with marshmallows and 2 chocolate things, OK? Oh, as well as that box there was a copy each of Heat and Closer mags - tsk, what rubbish [secret hurrah! emoticon] and a bottle of bubbly as well as a pile of clothes for Arthur. And all four sisters had sent me a huge John Lewis flower arrangement in a ceramic vase with teddy and chocolates. Lovely sisters!).

People don't say 'records' these days. 'Discs' is the common parlance, I believe

Your DH is cruisin' for a bruisin'... your DC too, maybe. Cactii, eh?

Iris there's nowt like an induction date to get things started. Really gyrate on that ball, I was doing that the night before It All Kicked Off. Hope you'll be posting baby name soon

Tee how did you get on at the hosp? Hope baby A is coming home today.

JJ Are you keen to do a little occasional journalism or get a real part time job? If you've had a demanding career in one field it's no wonder you start musing on pastures new however much you love being with your DC. I've always wanted other things to do, some women really don't want to, but it's a question of finding the right combo for you and your family.

Floria the difference between your and your DH's family sounds v familiar to me. Compare my sister's generous bounty of gifts with the sum total from DH's parents and sister - 4 tee-shirts, 2 pairs trousers and a jacket from Mothercare's budget range. I don't mind the price; it's the fact that they could easily afford to be more generous but never ever send flowers or anything 'luxurious'. My sisters wrap everything beautifully too while ILs handed over a carrier bag and receipt. It's an alien culture to me!

Bonzo how fab to look forward to maternity leave. Enjoy your last 3 days.

You can tell Arthur is asleep, I'm typing a novel here . DH bringing DS back from school any moment so had better go and hear about his day (blood from a stone; he only wants to tell me what he had for dinner).

johnworf · 06/07/2009 15:43

bonzo I've already said what you've said about knowing it'd be late etc etc to no avail. I got a hasty bunch of flowers from the local florist for our anniversary and I think as a creeping present.

Anyway, I've managed to eat my own weight in chocolate from Slattery's (floria will know that this is indeed death by chocolate - instant but not unpleasant!) Nice lunch with my 2 boys and K. Me paying of course.....

I do make a big deal of xmas and b'days as my parents never did. I don't get anything from either of them on either occasion so I've always gone overboard with mine. Anyway, DH knew this which is doubly why he's a shit imho.

I'm putting things into perspective though and trying to not sound like the petulent child I am. tee has a poorly child in hospital and it's those kinds of things that upset you, not a non-present

OP posts:
heron22 · 06/07/2009 17:17

jw happy birthday ur not a petulant child! i would be mega upset if DH and DS did not make a big fuss of my birthday!

i have to make a decision about contraception. cant decide whether to go for coil or mini pill. cant take combined pill cos i've had pre-eclampsia (thats what my gynae said). so any advice ladies?

johnworf · 06/07/2009 17:22

heron Do not understand why you can't have the combined pill. You're not pregnant anymore and as pre-eclampsia is a condition of pregnancy, I really don't understand....unless your blood pressure has been affected??? Although as I recall, b/p usually returns to pre-pregnancy state once you've had LO.

I think that contraception is so personal it's very hard to advise on. I'm no good at remembering to take the pill so it was never any good for me. Might as well have used nothing. I guess the coil is good as once it's in you can forget about it but I believe it can cause heavy periods - hasten to add, I have no experience of it though.

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 06/07/2009 17:59

heron My gp discouraged my return to the pill because of age not the fact that my bp had gone through the roof in the last 6wks of pg....I had a coil fitted (should have been a 'mirena' but gp accidentally put the ordinary one in)and it has done its job ...In my case periods are in general no heavier than they used to be, but I'm still bfing so they aren't regular (or perhaps I'm starting the menopause)

JW glad you had a delightful death in Slatterys...yumyum...

duchesse · 06/07/2009 17:59

Happy birthday JW.

Bonzo, have you had that baby yet? (very impressed you're still working btw- aren't you due any day now?).

Iris, haven't you had that baby yet?

There's a bunch of girls in my daughter's class at school who have swine flu. That really would be the icing on the cake at the moment...

jeanjeannie · 06/07/2009 18:18

Cor - today has dragged! BUT Iris made it to the potty in time for a poo....huge whooops of joy here! Seems like the "I want my potty" book is doing its magic!

heron how strange....I'd ask for much more clarification on the pre-eclampsia thing if I were you Pre-eclampsia only strikes in pregnancy and may only ever occur once or a few times....seems weird.

Personally I wouldn't use either. I'm too much of a chicken to use the coil....(whah - just the thought of it!!) and the mini pill has to be taken like clockwork - and I know I'd never manage that! It's condoms for us....mind you - can't remember last time we bought a new box

jw are you having a birthday noggin of wine or a schooner of sweet sherry?!

jeanjeannie · 06/07/2009 18:20

Ah yes, I forgot jw Death by Slatterys - atta girl...sigh* I still remember those darling little nuggets of chocolate joy

heron22 · 06/07/2009 18:31

jj i know what u mean, finding the time and energy to do it is a real challenge! most nights i would just prefer a cuddle and off to nod land!

floria i heard of the mirena coil, is that the one with a bit of hormone in it?

i am thinking of choosing the coil over pills.

jj i think doc says no pill cos of age. but i remember her saying due to bp as well. could be wrong!

johnworf · 06/07/2009 18:46

Blimey. Contraception isn't something I need these days. I find that having completely different bedtimes makes it easy not to conceive

JJ I did actually think of you today as I was perusing the seductive fare in the shop. DS#1 bought his g/f a slice of the legendary (well, it is to them) carrot cake. If I told you what I had for dessert though, I wouldnt not be able to do it justice. It was basically chocolate everything. Even the containers holding the cream and the liquid chocolate were made of chocolate (I kid you not). I shared it with DS#2 and we were feeling a bit green after it. Still, was worth it Anyhoo, they had some very tempting treats downstairs in the shop and I had to be very good and resist as I know my pants are getting tight. I need publicly flogging!

Great that Iris did a poo. I wonder if it was a birthday poo just for me. Did you put a candle in it and save it for me to blow out?

I saw these today and thought I might buy them for myself for next year. Funnily enough says not suitable for children. Isn't that strange. Would have got some for the children if they hadn't warned me

No iris posts so I'm thinking...what you're thinking??

Tee2072 · 06/07/2009 18:50

Hi all

Adam is home. I am exhausted. Still not sure if his ribs were cracked, he needs one more XRay in about 3 weeks.

The really good news is that Social Services doesn't even need to come by. They apparently spoke to all the docs/nurses/etc who interacted with us and Adam and all agree it was nothing but an accident.

I'll try to catch up after I have some dinner. Lunch was a lousy hospital sandwich ages ago!!

dawntigga · 06/07/2009 18:55

ARGH you all made me YouTube am now sat in bits because of this
