a few grumbles mrsb and had a bit of a show (but know that's not really an indication of imminence) I am just feeling very hormonal and bloody angry (though maybe that's a good sign in itself)

think I should probably rest. Sorry.

hedgepig · 05/07/2009 19:39

Tee I just flicked through, OMG petal how awful even now O is bigger I still worry about dropping him, it is not hard to do. It sounds like he is OK and in good hands at the hospital and should be right as rain in a day or two..

Floria you need a Piddle pad for the car seat, which generally adsorb most accidents so you don't have to wash the whole seat cover. There seems to be selection in Amazon here, but lots of places do them.

duchesse · 05/07/2009 19:41

Gosh Tee, how scary for you. Babies of Adam's age are terribly resilient though, much more than you might think. I remember when my first was born there was a case in the papers of some people who had gone shopping for the first time since the birth of their baby (baby was about 3 weeks old I think) and they got his pushchair caught in some lift doors. He ended up trapped by his head in the lift doors, but the outcome was that he was absolutely fine. Apparently at that age the skull is still very soft and malleable, and injuries can be less serious than at an older age.

Plus, we've all done gut wrenching things to our tiny babies by accident. I will put my hand up to clonking the boy's head on a doorframe whilst walking into the bathroom when he was a couple of weeks old, losing grip on him in the bath due to excessive soap, not strapping child 3 into her pram at 5 weeks with the result that she fell out when child 2 pulled the pram handle down to the floor, half strangling child 2 at about 4 months with my hair (after an early morning feed, I was sleeping like a log while she turned over and over in my hair screaming mere inches from my ear, until I eventually heard her and sat bolt upright, only to realise she was hanging from my hair ). Not my proudest moment.

They're all 3 fine now.

heron22 · 05/07/2009 19:53

duchesse love your vivid descriptions!

true we all have done oops! and felt so bad afterwards!

ermintrude13 · 05/07/2009 20:11

duchesse how long is your hair? . Hope Tee is feeling better knowing that Adam is looking fine and dandy.

iris a show is still good - Arthur appeared 2 days after I got my first, and DS1 appeared 5 hours after. Hope things are getting started

JJ Prestwood Steam Fair, eh? Hmmmm. Did DH win the draw today?

Stormfly I reckon you have aniseed flavour Gaviscon as opposed to Bonzo's peppermint (and white) version. Both are vile but I found the minty one slightly more palatable - but am extremely glad I shouldn't ever need to take the stuff again unless I get an ulcer . Love the crazy dreams.

ILs and SIL visited today, along with my sis and her family. My sis had brought lovely clothes for Arthur and also made me a huge box covered with pictures of cupcakes and a label saying 'Breastfeeding Essentials' which she'd filled with masses of mini choc bars, hot chocolate drinks, posh biscuits and haribos. Now that's a thoughtful gift .

jeanjeannie · 05/07/2009 20:14

Good to hear all is well with Adam tee

iris Ooooo, let's hope those rumblings and grumblings turn into something more!

jw hope your birthday tea was fun.

The girls loved the steam fair. Iris went on her first roundabout - she LOVED it and then we took her on one of those huge, classic carosels with horses....cock-a-hoop she was!

Anyway - off to do some cleaning as I won't get much time this week. I've got two friends going into hospital and i think I'm going to be busy with errands for them...so best dust-bust while I have the time!

jeanjeannie · 05/07/2009 20:16

erm X-posts...OH wow - 'BF essentials' - now THAT'S one heck of a gift

mrsboogie · 05/07/2009 20:28

what a thoughtful gift ermintrude how lovely.

yup, we had the slipping in the bath too - DP lost his grip of slippery baby who promptly disappeared beneath the surface. All was fine though as he was whipped out before he could open his mouth.

hmmm Iris it might be the start of something - here's hoping if only to get your rage levels down before you blow a gasket!

johnworf · 05/07/2009 21:36

Great to hear that everything is positive tee. I'll echo that babies are resilient. They can even bounce! Something to do with soft bones and relaxed when hitting something hard He'll be back at home with you tomorrow, in his own cot.

iris reckon that you'll start off soon. I went into labour within 24 hours of my show. Only had 1 show as other 2 were induced and K...well...she's just a mystery! Here's hoping yours comes on the special day of tomorrow Give your DH a slap for the ankle remark - save it until during labour when you can get him twice as good

JJ awwww great that Iris loved the roundabout. They get really giddy on those things don't they? Giggles all round Aren't you a lovely friend running around for the poorly sick people? I'll know where to come if I ever have an hour of need

mrsb and here was me thinking that D was a slide person. I should have known it was the swings

ermintrude the box! Sounds like something that you could market. OOOOOh lots and lots of lovely sweet things. Just the thing for the milk factory ....that's your new name

We're back. I'm full and tired. LO's asleep and bathed. Bed time?

dawntigga · 05/07/2009 21:54

tee get yourself a good nights sleep! Orders from Dr Tigga!

dxx

Tee2072 · 05/07/2009 22:19

Thanks everyone. Just got home and he's doing fine. Back tomorrow to be with him during scans/xrays and then hopefully home he'll be.

erm that is the best gift I have ever heard of!

JJ sounds like a fun day all around!

duchess okay, I feel better now. It happens a lot, doesn't it? Good things babies are so bendy!

BonzoDoodah · 05/07/2009 23:26

Oh Tee poor you!!! And poor baby!! Oh you must be devastated. But it was an accident and it sounds like he's getting better. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Try and sleep and not keep blaming yourself.
If it's any consolation I'll add my accidents to the list so you know it's not just you.
The day M was born I nearly dropped her onto the hospital floor as I was so tired she rolled out of my arms and down my lap. I jerked awake and caught her - but really only just in time. The midwives took her away for the night so I didn't kill her!
Then when she was about 6 weeks old and was crying in her crib I picked her out but smashed her head on the back of the crib as I did so. Agonising for me and she cried more. Oh and I dropped my baby brother down the front steps of our house strapped into his pushchair (about 3 feet up). Mum and Dad had SS round for that one ... gulp.

Florida quaking here at what a day you had with the wasps and poo - nightmare - and how brave are you!!!

Duchesse eek about the hair thing!

We had a lovely day. M finally eating more and more throughout the day and being a bit more herself (after death by winge yesterday). (I was only sick once so don't deserve any sympathy really).
We had friends round for the afternoon and DH cooked Rabbit Pie (with prunes, apple and bacon c/o St Deliah) followed by raspberry Pavlova (rasps fresh from the garden!) BOTH my favourites. Food Heaven!

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2009 00:04

OOOh Tee!!! We all know exactly how you feel. I'm so glad A is ok. These things happen and we feel dreadful ...Dh let our A jump on the bed a few weeks ago, he fell on the headboard and bust his lip, Dh was utterly devastated as it was the first accident on his watch (shows I haven't left him in charge often)and beat himself up for days ... personally though I would much rather A hadnt been hurt I was glad Dh finally got a shot of the guilt trip that being a parent is. It won't make you feel any better but my pals Dh was walking downstairs with their 4 wk old DD and slipped, his elbows hit the stair behind him and catapulted the baby over the banister to the hallway below..she had a hairline fracture of the scull and was kept in 48 hrs for observation but was absolutely fine. Hope you get him home soon ..I'm sure SS will be more than understanding
Hedgepig thanks for the link...excellent idea for those of us potty training. That is the first time it has happened in the 2 months since I stopped nappies so I have been very fortunate ....in fact it is so unusual for him that I suspect a slight urinary tract infection so I have put a drop of cranberry juice I his water bottle today...all seems back to normal today but I've ordered a couple of the terry ones to put in his push chair and car seat just incase.
lord..look at the time...I was supposed to be getting an early night

iris66 · 06/07/2009 05:40

Morning all - no new baby yet I'm afraid.

Where's herbaceous?

I'm grateful mum was here or I'd have probably ranted massively last night at you about DH It's not his fault - bloody bloody hormones! He doesn't really get emotional stuff very well (hence the stupid comments - they included "go for a run" last night, when I complained about a painful ankle) and doesn't make any allowances for hormones and therefore retaliates if I get snotty. All made up before bedtime though which is the main thing. Roll on menopause when I can be hormone free!!!!!

Well, to update - I've had a show which has been going on (and on, and on) since 5am yesterday (may ring MW about this actually as it's more like an end of period thing - is that normal d'you think?)
Loads of BHs through the day (cue lots of baking and cleaning) then late last night I had (not massively painful) contractions 6 mins apart for nearly an hour so thought it was all getting going but no, a false alarm and it all faded away again . I'm dreading the thought that it all may happen today after my sister and brother arrive (I really don't want an audience!) so will be bouncing on my ball all morning to try to get things going and head to hospital before then

jw - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! hope you have a fab day ? (and that you don't mind sharing it...possibly )

Floria - Am impressed with the potty success! DS2 will occasionally tell us if he's done a poo but is more interested in throwing things down the loo and flushing it than he is using it He's nowhere near ready yet - but then I didn't bother with DS1 until Feb (he was 3 - and thankfully it only took 3 days for him to be dry).

Tee - hope you had a good rest last night and can bring Adam back home today Baptism of fire to parenting eh!

jj - I love those carousels too Sounds like you all had a great time. And what a fab friend running round after everyone (I don't live that far away )

ermintrude - a truly inspired prezzie idea!! (makes mental note for future pregnant friends) How's Arthur doing?

Tee2072 · 06/07/2009 06:35

Happy Birthday JW!!!!!

johnworf · 06/07/2009 07:21

Aww thanks ladies. And iris, I would be more than happy to share my b'day with your LO if he/she cares to show their face today OOoh you could him/her after me even; johnworf eh? Lovely ring to it

If it's any consolation iris my DH sounds exactly like yours. No bedside manner and says the most insensitive things as the most inappropriate time. Then when I snap back he usually says 'can't you take a joke?' I know it isn't one though. But enough of that!

You know, it always takes me at least 3 months to remember my age has changed? I feel like I'm always on catch up.

tee many thanks for your kind wishes. Any news on the boy himself yet? Sounds from what you wrote that he'll be back at home where he belongs today. I really, really, hope so. And stop beating yourself up!!! No one is judging you apart from yourself. And you're your own worse critic

I'm planning to eat more chocolate cake today which is very bad I know. But the way I figure it.........oh sod it. Not even gonna justify it!! Just gonna have some cake

I see that Ron Weasley Rupert Grint has had swine flu. I'm damn sure there's a joke in there somewhere

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 06/07/2009 07:42

JW its your birthday. Of course you're gonna have cake!

Just spoke to the Ward nurse. Adam had a quiet night. No way of knowing what time he'll be taken down for his Xrays etc, so I think DH and I will head over about 9:30/10 and just hang around!

I hope everyone has a lovely day!

duchesse · 06/07/2009 08:22

erm- it was about waist length back then (somewhere between the shoulder blades now). My poor baby had a mark all the way around her neck for ten days- I didn't dare take to be weighed. The whole story was so damned unbelievable I was seriously scared they wouldn't believe it...

jeanjeannie · 06/07/2009 08:34

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JW from all at JJTowers Here, have some coffee and walnut cake......I've left you some lemon drizzle over on FB!!!! Pray do tell what your pressie haul has been???

tee good to hear Adam had a quiet night. Hope all is OK with the X-rays - keep us posted when you can xxx

iris I think now the BH are kicking in then we should start a due-day sweepstake! My money is on Friday this week!!

Off out this morning....probably nowt doing this afternoon. Feeling very euk....a bit miserable. I think I'm struggling a bit with where we live....reckon I need some more stimulation. Actually, I think I'm struggling with being a SAHM....eek...is that really bad? Anyway, I'm sure if I put my mind to it there are ways I can snap out of it!!

dawntigga · 06/07/2009 08:36

jw joyous birthingday type greetings

dxx

iris66 · 06/07/2009 09:16

jj - my money's on tonight [hopeful emoticon]

Tee - glad Adam had a good night Home soon I hope.

I'm planning on having a hormone free day today but if it doesn't work I'm not going to post

< trundles off singing.. "it's the final countdown, dada daaa daaaaa dada da da daaa..." >

hedgepig · 06/07/2009 09:25

happy birthday toooo Yooooou JW

O slept from when I gave him a bottle at 10:30 'til 5am so why am I so knackered???? This moving around malarkey is defiantly making him sleep better.

Iris how exciting, contraction vibes coming your way.

dawntigga · 06/07/2009 09:28

iris regardless of your gravid state there is NO good reason to EVER sing Europe

dxx

johnworf · 06/07/2009 09:43

tee oooh do let us know if he's home today.

iris I think it'll be today too with impending induction tomorrow.

JJ no need to feel guilty (although you will do) about wanting to have more of a life than entertaining toddlers. You're allowed and thank you for all the cake trails you left me

No presents at all here - unless I count the 4 cacti that the children bought me. On the 'say it with flowers' scale I think this might mean 'piss off'

Nothing from DH so far. I made him an anniversary card and gave him a radio for the shower. Oh yes, it's our anniversary today as well. So I'm down by 2 presents by my reckoning

Where's neddie gone to?

OP posts:
johnworf · 06/07/2009 09:44
