JJ I did actually get excited at the prospect of going in a taxi A black one no doubt. Oh, I'm going to pretend I'm Shirley Valentine going to Greece..........

.........but DH spoilt it a bit though by asking (again) 'so will you be getting paid for it?' and 'how can you advertise the website?' The latter being the most insensitive given the subject in hand. I might just plan my escape to Greece to have an illicit liaison with Tom Conti (very nice in his younger days).

Sounds like you've had a good day visiting friends. Don't like the crash bit and traffic jam + tired, hot, thirsty children = STRESS! I'm staying indoors until K and DSS leave home

HI all
had a day off again today looking after M as mum's away at a spa (lucky moo). Had my best friend round and we sat with feet in the paddling pool telling M off for the 500th time for doing the exact opposite of what we tell her.

Like ... taking her nappy off TWICE in her cot!!!! jw how weird is that??? Congrats ont he interview - I'll do listen again when I get home.

heron my periods started as soon as I started to wean M but my milk seemed to stay the same so I don't think it can be that.

JJ hideous car journey - as you say thank goodness for air con!

Ermintrude gorgeous new boy! with loads of lovely hair (and sweet older DD and DS). And PSML at the lady chamber comments.

Tee did you see the woman who misquoted you has (sort of) apologised - don't stress - it's too hot.

John Lewis did good finally and delivered our new fridge freezer FIRST THING today and phoned me 10 mins before (at 7:10am!!) so I had time to jump out of bed and look respectable as we answered the door. The new one is Mega brilliant with not one but 2 light and ironically a cut-out timer on the light so this one can never go wrong like the last one. Yeee haww!

johnworf · 02/07/2009 06:53

Morning all.

bonzo must have been something in the air y'day about taking nappies off How weird is that?! Glad you finally got your fridge sorted out. How many days later? Hmm tricky one as they've done you a mahoosive favour in giving you a freebie out of warranty but then again messed you around. Would a letter to customer services be advisable? Yes, methinks so. I'm sure it can't do any harm.

tee how was your night out? I bet little A slept all through the night while you were out gallivanting eh?

K slept well after a dose of Calpol. Just went to bed in her cot wearing a nappy and a grimace. Put the fan on and left her to it. She's had a good nights sleep though. Hoping that the MMR wasn't too much for her although the nurse pre-warned me that she could be off last night but anywhere from 5-10 days she could get a rash as it's a live vaccine.

I'm being picked up straight after school this morning and taken to Broadcasting House in Manchester to do this recording. Been having run through chats with self I think I pretty much know what they'll be asking me as the researcher asked me last night over the phone. I know that they have other people joining in by phone and in studio tomorrow. They were happy for me to pre-record instead of phone in (quality purposes) and I'm far too scaredy cat to actually go live in the studio (they asked and I said NO!) No idea who the other people are going to be - expect someone representing doctors praps and someone maybe from BLISS?

I'll let you all know how I get on when I get home.

iris66 · 02/07/2009 07:37

jw good luck with the recording!! I can't wait to hear it tomorrow!

Got booked in for induction on 7th (40+1)as I'm worried about the size of the baby. Unfortunately there's no opportunity for a sweep by my MW beforehand (only available Tues/& Thu) but i'm guessing that'll be the first thing I get in the hospital anyway since that's all it took to get me going with DS2. Getting excited now

Floria - bad timing being without the garden when DH is away. Hope you're holding up ok in your temporary singleparentdom.

jj - at the crash! A/C is truly a wonderful thing in a car though isn't it Glad you had a good day with your friend.

wonderwitch - long time no hear! How's everything going?

Tee hope Adam was good for you after your night out and that you enjoyed your night of freedom

ermintrude - how's Arthur doing in the heat? (am quietly glad I'm still this side of delivery until the weather breaks)

Bonzo - are JL going to give you compensation for the delivery delay? That was awful! I'll be joining you in the feet-in-pool day I think today.

DS2 still not awake so best go & wrench him from his cot as we're meeting friends after the school run. Bye for now

Tee2072 · 02/07/2009 07:48

Morning all!

Had a lovely dinner with DH and then a walk and an ice cream cone. Adam didn't miss us a bit.

jw good luck! I know you'll do fab!!

bonzo I did see the half apology. I personally think the poster is just insane. And I'm not upset about it at all. I was actually highly amused. I've been on the 'net for 10+ years and have been misquoted before, just not that badly!!

I hope everyone had a quiet night. My little man slept from 11:30 - 3 and 4 until who knows when as he's still asleep! My mum was all 'what are you doing up if he's asleep?!?!' I just woke up is all!!!

heron22 · 02/07/2009 07:48

jw best of luck with your interview today! also hope K gets through today it is going to be another hot day!

bonzo yea i think period coming does not affect breastmilk production.

i am expressing for the last time. i have decided to stop and if i keep saying one more day, then i will never stop! LO now bites nipple everytime i offer it to him. naughty! he is biting everything that goes into his mouth!

it is day4 of his weaning today and it is cream carrot today. he did not like it much when i gave him a taster yesterday! tomorrow it is pear and rice

hope you all had some sleep last night, wasnt it muggy!

jeanjeannie · 02/07/2009 09:13

Morning all.

jw Good luck today! Hopefully you're swanning over to the Beeb in a limbo Would you like me to ring max Clifford for you...get a bit of representation..? You never know - those Iceland ads could be yours....the Katona pushed out in favour of and older, slimmer model Let us know how you got on.

heron your weaning delights sound gorgeous - send them this way if he doesn't want them!! Have you tried John Lewis for a travel cot with wheels? I've only got the standard sort I'm afraid. Jojomaman bebe may be worth a peek too.

bonzo that sounds like a most agreeable day!
Pleased JL sorted everything out.

iris OOOooooo, OOoooo, it's SO close...I'm not surprised you're excited. Do you know what flavour you're having? I can't remember?

Hoping Iris can hold out in this heat without napping as she's got her first pre-school induction at 1pm .....OOooo, I hope she likes it. Thing is - one of her 'spectrumy' type quirks is that if she goes somewhere - it has to be the same way etc. Not sure how she'll cope going to nursery....but then not going to the actually building - but to the pre-school round the side...MMmmm. I'm hoping the sheer plethora of toys may swing it !

ermintrude13 · 02/07/2009 09:25

Wow, I miss a day and look what's happened - JW's now a radio as well as broadsheet star; Tee's getting enough sleep to start posting controversial witticisms on other threads; JJ's Iris seems to be starting school, Iris knows when she'll give birth and Bonzo's fridge saga is finally over. Phew, you ladies are busy.

Milk came in last night so Arthur has been drinking and throwing up and is now sleeping off his all-nighter binge, and I will shortly join him. Am hoping that now he can get a bellyfull I'll see a pattern of sorts emerge and that pattern will include sleeping more than 2 hours v close to me. Even yesterday he was letting me lie him in a moses basket without objecting straight away, and is now in his crib so he seems to be relaxing into the outside world. He's still gorgeous beyond belief.

Wedding anniversary today. I gave DH a crap printed out one from 'interweb and he forgot for the first time ever! He's so knackered and shell-shocked and has been so fab sorting out older DC and cooking and laundry etc, that I genuinely don't mind .

JW quick tip re toddler groups - I used to chat to the other mums as though I were an only slightly toned-down character from a Victoria Wood sketch. Made me sound more friendly than I actually felt, and turned out to be a good way of finding mums with similar sociopathic tendencies sense of humour.

gotta sleep, keep cool everyone . Our house has rooms which never warm up which is bad in winter but fab in 30 degrees, so Arthur hasn't got too hot and bothered. But he's fetching big bro from school and our sunshade is broken so must go to Mothercare later.

johnworf · 02/07/2009 11:50

Evenin' all! I is back

All went well and interview in the can as they say. Apparently I'm sharing a minidisc with Phil Jupitus who did a programme on puppets on the radio - don't ask! It's my claim to fame The person who did the interview asked me if I'd worked in media before. Apparently I'm an old pro (bite your lips with the comments, please!)

I'm top of the bill tomorrow at 10am so if you're interested, you know where to listen.

Back down to earth now with a load of washing to hang out and DS#2 is here to keep his old mother company.

ermintrude hope you manage to get your head down and your boobs don't give you too much trouble

iris well done on the induction date. YOu missed my b'day by 1 day - I'm the 6th

Ordered an electric toothbrush holder from Lakeland which came y'day. Sadly, Sonicare heads won't fit in the holes as they're too small. I phoned them to return it and they gave me a refund and told me to keep it as wasn't worth processing. If any takers for it (its' still in box) let me know.

Laterz.

OOooo - Phil Jupitus. Now, he's one of lifes fat blokes who 'I would'

I shall be listening

Your birthday on the 6th eh....same as my hateful ex - but I shan't hold that against you

Off to pre-school with Iris for a few hours....wish me luck!

johnworf · 02/07/2009 12:54

Oh lordy JJ How exactly would you do the fat bloke?

Good luck Iris at pre-school! I bet she'll love it

BonzoDoodah · 02/07/2009 14:06

Having gloated on Tuesday about having no cankles - they appeared that night! So fat-legged-Bonzo has been desperate to drop into conversation that she hasn't had a win on the lottery this time either ....

jw super news about interview. I do like Phil Jupitus too - was interviewed by him twice on 6 music breakfast show (morning competitions) he was very nice!

ermintrude as long as you don't talk to the other mums like Mrs Overall or Kelly-Marie Tunstall I think your plan would work. I find I am desperate to meet people who have a sense of humour (read: sarky bstds) and not just sick sweet gooey-mummies [pukes] - how do you find the decent people??

Exciting news Iris about the induction!

Am very sad right now - someone on the Due in July thread had their baby- near due date - but cord wraped tight round neck and baby died. Tears in the toilet at work here.

heron22 · 02/07/2009 14:26

bonzo so sorry to hear about the baby do you know the mum?

BonzoDoodah · 02/07/2009 15:20

I only know her in a general way from posting on Mumsnet in our antenatal thread. Saw her late at night post saying she was in labour at 1am and sent good luck wishes - and then nothing til the bad news. But is still shocking.

jeanjeannie · 02/07/2009 15:52

bonzo gosh that is just so, so awful Rare and very tragic

On a lighter note - I have NO idea how to meet like-minded (also see cynical, sarky, cutting and occasionally v childish) mums. I'm really not good with sensible, saccharine-sweet, nice mummies either. I'm finding it dreadfully hard [poor me emoticon] Not only that - I find it's the 'nice' ones that are bloody deadly! BOO to the cankles!

jw I'd 'do' with Mr Jupitus pretty much what hedgepig suggested....it's the laugh/smiling factor...I just ;would'

Iris LOVED, LOVED, LOVED pre-school. Three other had their induction and they all wanted mummy to stay but after 40mins Iris waved goodbye to me So I went home - got Verity (MIL had her) and went back for the last 30 mins. They were reading the Hungry Caterpillar...she was engrossed and jumped up and shouted "cherry pie!" when they came to that picture.....she was so excited! I asked if she wanted to go again and she said "yes"!

FloriaTosca · 02/07/2009 17:10

oooh JJso would I ... but then again I am married to a fat bloke so obviously have a penchant for the larger fella (probably so they can't complain about my excess without retort). I hope Iris had a fabulous time.

JW look forward to hearing you tomorrow ... no jokes about pros, particularly old ones, honest.

duchesse · 02/07/2009 17:13

I saw that Bonzo- very sad. I can't begin to imagine what those poor people must be going through. The same thing happened to a friend about 12 years ago at 40+3. It's just too awful to contemplate.

FloriaTosca · 02/07/2009 17:18

Posted before reading

Oh lord Bonzo the poor, poor girl, we know that these things are possibilities but always hope that with todays medical advances they wont...so sad for her.

Thrilled for you JJ that Irisadored preschool...fantastic...what a lovely start to her school years

johnworf · 02/07/2009 17:57

Thanks ladies for all taking the time out to have a listen to my offering tomorrow. I recorded 20 minutes worth but obviously this will be cut down to around 5. I have no idea how it will sound once pieced together but hopefully I shall offer something half way coherent

JJ I knew Iris would love it! No looking back now for your little girly. She'll grow up before your very eyes. You must be extremely proud that she's taken to it so brilliantly! Woot!

K has taken to wearing just a nappy. It's far too hot to even think about a vest. I believe it'll break over the weekend and the temp will drop 4-6 degrees. Phew! Great news for you preggie ladies (not sure there's many of you left now).

bonzo gosh, I cannot even express any sentiments for what must be a horrendous situation. I feel so very sad for what that lady is going through on your other thread.

OP posts:
duchesse · 02/07/2009 18:00

jw I have spent the last two weeks lying blobbily on the sofa wondering how I'm going to survive the next 6 weeks. Luckily it's a lot cooler in the SW today (18C rather than 28C)

Tee2072 · 02/07/2009 18:32

Evening all!

Mum and step dad have headed to the theatre so DH and I having a curry .

bonzo how horrible. Just the thought of if something like that had happened to A...

jj glad iris liked pre-school! Who needs mummy when there's things to do!!

jw hope just the nappy is cooling her down. Its much cooler here but so muggy it feels pretty hot.

herbaceous · 02/07/2009 18:37

Crikey, this thread moves so fast...

I am now 40+4, and after a somewhat too vigorous internal investigation, and attempt at a sweep (HOW painful?), today, I've been booked in for an induction next week, at 41+3. Can't decide if it's the best thing, or what, but got rather railroaded into it by scary doctor. 'Unfavourable cervix', apparently. Hadn't really expected her to go straight for induction... All a bit scary. But I suppose at least it's predictable - my biggest dread is the ride in the taxi to the hospital mid contraction...

Also had acupuncture session this arvo - plus a load of pineapple juice, raspberry leaf tea and all that - so hopefully that might bring him on.

johnworf · 02/07/2009 18:41

2 more babies next week! Now, who will do it first?
